A 53-year-old Ms. Zhang has no family history of lung cancer and bad habits of smoking. Recently, a health examination found that there were grunge glassy lesions on the left and right lungs. She went to the thoracic surgery clinic. The doctor suspected that it was "multiple lung cancer". The section was diagnosed with the first stage of lung adenocarcinoma . It is currently being tracked in the clinic. Doctors remind that the risk factors for lung cancer are not only smoke damage, but also air pollution and oil smoke.
Zhong Zhengjin, the chief physician of the thoracic surgery department of Taipei Tzu Chi Hospital, who admitted this case, pointed out that in recent years, it has been found that under the same carcinogenic factors and genes, the left and right lungs are highly likely to have lesions at the same time. In the past, if more than two lesions were found in the patient's lungs, it was mostly considered metastatic terminal cancer. It can only be treated with conservative internal medicine therapies such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and the survival rate in 5 years is less than 10%.
Zhong Zhengjin said that common lung cancer cells include adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma , small cell carcinoma . If the tumor is completely removed, the lesion will be removed through thoracoscopy. After pathological tests, many patients can be determined to be multiple lung cancers, if the tumor is completely removed, it can be increased by more than 50% of the survival rate.

According to data, the number of patients with multiple lung cancer has been diagnosed in the past one or two years, and most of them are "women without smoking habits". Zhong Zhengjin pointed out that smoking was a high-risk factor for lung cancer in the past, but with the changes in lifestyle and air quality, the promiscuous people are no longer just smoke addicts and those with a family history of lung cancer.
Nowadays, single-hole thoracic endoscopic surgery is the mainstream of lung cancer surgery. Doctors will consider the retention of postoperative lung function. Depending on the size, location and period of the patient, wedge resection, lung segment resection, lobectomy or segment resection are selected. Zhong Zhengjin said that unlike traditional thoracoscopy, at least 2 to 3 small wounds are required to complete the operation, this technique requires entering the chest cavity through the rib gap or under the xiphoid process. Only one wound can be used to remove the lesions of the left and right lungs in one operation.
Zhong Zhengjin reminds that even if it is multiple lung cancer, as long as it is detected and removed early and tracked regularly, it can enjoy a good prognosis. It is recommended that patients with high-risk groups of lung cancer over 55 years old can use "low-dose computerized tomography" more to screen for early lung lesions, and early diagnosis and treatment.
