Evergreen Marine abandoned its previous lease plan and will order 10 super-large container ships of 23,000 TEU.
According to Lowe's Daily, the 10 ultra-large container ships that have been identified will be customized in three different shipyards. Among them, South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industry won 6 of the orders for 23,000 TEU container ships, and the remaining four will be built in China's Hudong Zhonghua (2 ships) and Jiangnan Shipyard (2 ships).

It is reported that the price of each ship will be between 140 million and 160 million US dollars. Industry insiders said that Evergreen Shipping is in "contacting" and negotiating with large Chinese banks and Chinese leasing companies to resolve the financing issues of new ships.
data shows that as of now, Evergreen Shipping ranks 7th in the Alphaliner TOP100, currently operating a total of 208 container ships with a total capacity of about 1,311,991 TEU, of which 114 own ships and 94 rental ships; the ship orders are 58 ships with a total capacity of about 336,544 TEU, accounting for 25.7% of the total controlled capacity, and the addition of the latest order capacity increases the proportion to 43.2%.
