"Happy Christmas City" is the general term for a series of Christmas activities in the business district of Xinban Special Zone, New Taipei City, and was held for the first time in 2010. According to China Times Electronic News, Su Qiaohui said on Facebook on the 9th, "Have you been to New Taipei Christmas (i.e. Christmas) City? Have you noticed that Huawei's logo appeared on the upstairs of the New Taipei City Government?" She questioned, "When the West responded to the infiltration of China's Huawei with a cautious and defensive attitude, the New Taipei City Government accepted Huawei's sponsorship for three consecutive years." Su Qiaohui is the daughter of former "Premier Administrator" Su Zhenchang, who was once the county magistrate of Taipei County (now New Taipei City), but lost to the Kuomintang candidate Hou Youyi when he ran for mayor of New Taipei this year.
New Taipei City Tourism Director Chen Guojun responded that as long as the regulations are compliant, the city government welcomes sponsoring activities on the island or international brands.
Netizens on the island criticized Su Qiaohui for being "anti-China and anti-rebellious" and asked, "What can trademarks and mascots steal?" Taipei City Councilman Luo Zhiqiang also sarcastically said: "This backless Su Qiaohui and the unscrupulous Democratic Progressive Party, except for red, seem to really not know how to rule!"
