Hong Kong's Sing Tao Daily published an exclusive interview with Wu Zhihua, director of , the Hong Kong Palace Museum, . He revealed that nine major exhibitions will be held when the Forbidden City opens. In addition to the seven exhibitions of the Forbidden City cultural relics, the other two non-Forbidden City cultural exhibitions are rich in Hong Kong elements and characteristics, including the collections of Hong Kong artists, and some are mainland cultural relics scattered in Hong Kong for many years. The museum will also invite many young local artists to participate, select more than 80 fine artifacts from past dynasties, presenting different experiences and meanings to the audience from a unique perspective, allowing the public to meet and resonate in the art world across thousands of years of history.
As for the cultural relics exhibited in the Forbidden City of Hong Kong, Wu Zhihua revealed that he has selected more than 900 exhibits of the Beijing Forbidden City of Beijing, which have to wait for approval from the mainland and is expected to arrive in Hong Kong in May next year. He expressed his support for Hong Kong to become a Chinese and foreign cultural center and actively cooperated with museums of world civilization, including Taipei Palace Museum , but emphasized that he hoped that both sides would cooperate with equality, professionalism and no political involvement. Hong Kong Palace Museum is located in the sea-lined area of the West Kowloon Reclamation District, Hong Kong West Kowloon Cultural District . The museum covers an area of 10,000 square meters and is expected to open in July 2022 with a cost of HK$3.5 billion. The idea of building the Forbidden City in Hong Kong appeared in September 2015. Carrie Lam, then Secretary for Administration, and the then Director of the Forbidden City Museum, , Director of the Forbidden City Museum, , Shan Jixiang asked whether there was a place in West Kowloon to build an exhibition hall to display the Forbidden City cultural relics for a long time. On May 28, 2018, the Forbidden City in Hong Kong held a groundbreaking ceremony.

Wu Zhihua said that the positioning of the Forbidden City in Hong Kong is to allow the audience to understand the cultural connotation of the Forbidden City from a broader perspective and show cultural inheritance and innovation. Zhijing Research Center said that in its latest policy address, Carrie Lam echoed the "14th Five-Year Plan" and proposed to build Hong Kong into a center for cultural and artistic exchanges between China and foreign countries. The Forbidden City of Hong Kong is about to be opened, and this city is expected to become an important center for displaying Chinese and Western cultural works.
