[Global Times Report Reporter Xing Xiaojing Wang Wenwen] A dialogue with the theme of "Don't let Okinawa become a battlefield" will be held on the 15th of this month. One of the conveners of the dialogue meeting, former representative of the "Hanoko Prefecture Referendum", Japanese political activist Inshiro Motoyama recently said in an exclusive interview with a reporter from " Global Times " that Okinawa should become the "front line of cultural exchanges" rather than the "front line of war".
In May this year, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Okinawa's "return to Japan", Inshiro Motoyama held a placard "requiring to give up the construction of the Hamano Kuxin Base" and held a 151-hour hunger strike in front of the Tokyo Prime Minister's residence. "The Japanese government is celebrating Okinawa's 'return', but that's not something to celebrate at all." Inshiro Motoyama told the Global Times reporter that he made three demands to the Japanese government through a hunger strike: immediately stop building a new US military base in the Hinoko area of Okinawa Prefecture; stop using Futenma Airport within a few years; open all Japan-US agreements related to the " Japan-US status agreement ", and reconsider it after democratic discussions, including Okinawa Prefecture. However, even though this incident triggered a rediscussion of the international community on the Okinawa issue, it did not receive a positive response from the Japanese government.

For some time, the Japanese government has exaggerated that "if there is something to do in Taiwan, it is Japan, that is, the Japan-US alliance has something to do." It uses this as an excuse to promote the revision of defense documents such as the "National Security Strategy", equips the missile on Miyakoshima , and deploys "electronic combat troops" in Naha City and southern cities. Okinawa has been regarded as the "front of war" by the Japanese government.
"Okinawa should not be the front line of war." Inshiro Yuanyama told the Global Times reporter that more than 70% of the US military bases in Japan are concentrated in Okinawa, and the Japanese government has also continuously strengthened its military deployment in Okinawa. These are all acts of the Japan-US alliance against China. The " Japan-US Security Treaty " cannot protect the people of Okinawa and Okinawa.
Born in 1991 in Yinowan City, Okinawa Prefecture, Inshiro Motoyama, told reporters that living in military facilities is surrounded by fear at all times. Over the past decades, US troops stationed in Okinawa have successively experienced high-altitude falls, noise pollution, and ignoring Japanese legal crimes and other vicious incidents. They also used toxic chemicals perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) to pollute the natural environment on which Okinawa people rely for survival.
Inshiro Yuenyama said that the tension in Okinawa has a lot to do with the Japanese government's frequent hype that "Taiwan is in trouble", which has gradually become the "front of war". From a security perspective, the Japanese government should reduce or even stop this practice and effectively improve relations with neighboring countries through peaceful dialogue. This is the protection of the Okinawan people. Okinawa should become the front line for cultural exchanges with China, South Korea, North Korea and other countries.
"Sadly, we cannot have expectations for the Japanese government now." Inshiro Motoyama said that the Japanese government has always ignored the calls from the Okinawa people. In February 2019, as a representative of the citizen group "Hanoko Prefecture Referendum", Inshiro Motoyama organized a referendum on whether he supported the relocation of Futenma Base to the Hamanoko area. More than 70% of the people participating in the voting expressed opposition. While expressing its "respect for the voting results", the Japanese government continues to promote the relocation plan.
Inshiro Yuenyama said that the people of Okinawa are increasingly dissatisfied with the Japanese government. In the September governor election, Danny Tamachi defeated the candidate Saki Masumi, recommended by the Zigong Governor League, to be re-election. Okinawan people express their demands in various ways and are actively seeking opportunities to speak out in the international community. It is precisely based on this consideration that Inshiro Motoyama participated in the preparation of the upcoming dialogue on the 15th with the theme of "Don't let Okinawa become a battlefield".
Inshiro Yuenyama told reporters that Okinawa and China have a long history of exchanges, and now they are closely connected with China in economic fields such as tourism and tourism, and he himself wants to learn Chinese. In the interview, Inshiro Motoyama repeatedly mentioned that the human rights of the Okinawan people were seriously violated. He said that China has a great influence in the international community and should let the Chinese understand the views of the Okinawa people and know that the Okinawa people live in uneasiness. The young political activist stressed that "the right to peace is also a human right."
