Canada’s official COVID-19 Immunization Working Group (CITF) released a report saying that the omicron variant virus is currently in a huge range in Canada! "Omicron is like a tsunami that swept Canada." The
report explained that the research data is based on the population seropositivity rate - "the proportion of people with SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in the blood."
data show that before Omicron, only 7% of Canadians had antibodies. This proportion surged by 45% from December 2021 to May 2022. More than half of Canadians (about 17 million) are currently infected with the COVID-19 variant Omicron. And the Omicron variant is still spreading, with an average of 100,000 people infected every day. The main contagious variant at present is BA5.
Canadian Ontario data shows that the spread of the omicron variant BA.5 has officially entered the seventh wave of the new crown epidemic. Currently, the average daily death toll for confirmed COVID-19 (positive COVID-19 when dying due to illness) has increased from 3 people per day in May to 5 people.
According to Canadian Blood Services, updated data to the national working group every two weeks, their blood donation analysis shows that the highest seropositivity rate due to infection is young people, with young people aged 17 to 24, with about 65% of those in that age group having antibodies. People aged 25 to 39 followed closely behind, at 57%.
"Millions of Canadians now have mixed immunity against COVID-19 due to vaccination and infection." David, chairman of the COVID-19 Immunization Working Group CITF "But unfortunately, emerging evidence shows that most of these people are still at risk of reinfecting the Omicron variant BA5 virus." The
CITF study distinguishes antibodies that are naturally produced by infection with the antibodies produced by vaccines. This study, which has been in June 2020, found several strange phenomena:
First, people who have been infected with the new crown and are vaccinated after recovering from the new crown, will have a very strong immune response; after the first vaccination alone, their antibody levels are significantly higher than those who have been vaccinated twice but have not been sick.
2. Patients with infected with early virus strains (primitive strains or Delta variants) cannot guarantee that the antibody level in the body will not be infected with omicron, especially its child variant BA5.
Third, if an antibody is produced due to omicron infection, the immune level provided by the antibody is very low after recovery, and it is almost impossible to avoid re-infection.
4. Not all people who have been infected with the virus will develop immunity. In almost every eight infected people, one person's blood will not produce antibodies due to illness. The possibility of children becoming immunity due to infection is reduced by half.
But no matter in that case, as long as you have been vaccinated and have normal physical condition, people can indeed obviously prevent the risk of becoming seriously ill and dying.
Health Canada has publicly announced that it is expected to approve the Moderna vaccination for children aged 6 months to 5 years old in mid-July. According to the plan Moderna has applied to the government, children under 5 years old can receive two doses of the new crown vaccine, each dose of the vaccine is equivalent to one-quarter of that of an adult, and the vaccination interval is 4 weeks apart.
