18-year-old Chinese Taipei table tennis player Lin Yunru days ago donated NT$200,000 to the Yilan county government, which helped him as a free nutritional lunch fund for students. But in an interview, Lin Yunru, who is shy, smiled and said that he didn't know what to say.
At the Czech Open in the ITTF Tour in late August, Lin Yunru, who had just turned 18, defeated German star Ocharov 4-1 in the men's singles final and won the first Open championship in his career. In the previous match of the T2 Diamond League, which was known as the "most expensive league on the surface", he defeated the national table tennis team 4-1 and won the men's singles championship, and in the quarter-finals, he also defeated Malone 4-2. It was in the T2 Diamond League that Lin Yunru decided to donate NT$200,000 (equivalent to about NT$46,000) to the Yilan County Government to sponsor the county's free nutritious lunch policy. Lin Yunru had a nutritious lunch when he was in elementary school and thought the dishes were pretty good, but after he went to junior high school, he taught himself at home and never ate it again. When the media asked Lin Yunru to say something, Lin Yunru smiled and said that he didn't know what to say. After Lin Yunru won the Czech Open, he was praised by fans during an interview and became able to speak. At that time, Lin Yunru said that because the questions he asked were almost the same every time, he knew how to answer them. It seems that only by accepting more interviews from now on, he will know what he wants to say.
Lin Yunru didn't know what to say, but his father Lin Xueyi had something to say. He said that Lin Yunru received a lot of assistance from the Yilan County Government during training, and now he has achieved some achievements and wants to give back. After receiving the bonus of $100,000, Lin Yunru took the initiative to say that he wanted to donate, but he didn't know who he wanted to donate to. After contacting the county government, he decided to sponsor the free nutritious lunch policy. Before this donation, Lin Yunru made donations to Yilan Jiafu Center and others. Although he is not very old, Lin Yunru has a love to give back to society.
Currently, Lin Yunru is participating in the T League in Japan. After that, he will lead the Chinese Taipei team to the Asian Table Tennis Championships. He has four events. In addition to men's team and men's singles, he will partner with Wang Taiwei in men's doubles and Zheng Yijing in in mixed doubles. The mixed doubles combination of Lin Yunru and Zheng Yijing has the strength to compete for gold. They won the Open Championships of China and Hong Kong this year back to back. With the 38-year-old Zhuang Zhiyuan announcing his withdrawal from the Asian Championships and giving up the Tokyo Olympics , the 18-year-old Lin Yunru will take on the banner of the Chinese Taipei team's table tennis.
