: Speaking of famous temples and ancient temples, it is not unfamiliar to everyone. Since Buddhism was introduced to China, we have also had thousands of years of Buddhist culture history. To this day, there are many ancient temples and many monks, and many ancient temples are very popular.
When I visited Kunshan, Jiangsu, I encountered an ancient temple. Although it is not well-known, it is very distinctive. It is an ancient temple with the "Min-Taiwan" style and Lugang characteristics. It is "Huiju Temple".
Huiju Temple is located at the intersection of Kunshan City Dongting Hubei Road and Yangshu Road. Loujiang and Zhangjiagang flow slowly from the side. For tourists, there may be few people knowing that here, but for locals and believers, this place is very famous. Whether on holidays or on weekdays, there are endless people coming here to burn incense, and it is not like other temples to collect tickets. Visiting here is free.
Although I have been in Kunshan for several days, I would not have come here if I hadn't been recommended by my friend. My friend is a Taiwanese who works in Kunshan. Whenever I have time, I will go to Huiju Temple to pray for blessings or stroll around. In short, I like it very much.
Huiju Temple has a very long history, and it can be traced back to the ten years of -day supervision in the Liang Dynasty. It has a long history of more than 1,500 years. It is a veritable thousand-year-old temple.
Of course, the Huiju Temple I am seeing is rebuilt in 2005, and its original site is not here. The rebuilt Huiju Temple Master Temple area covers an area of about 22 acres and is the largest Mazu Temple in East China. If you have visited temples in Fujian before, you will not have any doubts about Huiju Temple. Huiju Temple is a typical "Fujian-Taiwan" style temple, which is different from the temples we usually see, and is mainly reflected in the architectural style.
Huiju Temple is also a temple built with the characteristics of "Lugang". During the reconstruction, it was based on the Longshan Temple in Lugang, Taiwan. During this period, it visited famous Fujian-Taiwan style temples such as Lugang Longshan Temple, Chengtian Zen Temple, Quanzhou Kaiyuan Temple, , and Tianhou Palace to learn scriptures. It also combined the graceful and beautiful Suzhou classical gardens. After the completion, Huiju Temple attracted many people's attention in Kunshan for a time.
Huiju Temple is mainly composed of the mountain gate, the Heavenly King Hall, the Bell and Drum Tower, the Yuantong Treasure Hall, the Tianhou Palace, the Schujangxian Hall and other temples. It also has a cross-strait cultural exchange center.
There are many famous temples in the Jiangnan region in history. The common saying " 480 temples in the Southern Dynasties, , how many towers and rain are there", which includes Huiju Temple, and the allusion of "the finishing touch" that people often say also comes from this.
day harem is also called "Mazu Hall". It enshrines Mazu inside. The overall building is magnificent and spectacular. It is a typical Fujian-Taiwan style temple. Even the internal wooden structure is a traditional Fujian-Taiwan wooden structure building. Walking inside the temple, apart from being amazed by the buildings in front of me, my biggest feeling is inner peace. Even though I am not a Buddhist believer, I am very interested in the temple.
In addition to the main temples built along the central axis, a nine-story pagoda has been rebuilt here. The Huiju Temple in history has a pagoda. Now, after its reconstruction, it provides a good place to climb high and look out over the temple.
I don’t know, have you ever been to or heard of “Huiju Temple” in Kunshan, Jiangsu? What are your impressions of this thousand-year-old temple? If you haven't been there, will you visit here if you have the chance? Welcome to leave comments.
