htmlOn October 12, Times Higher Education (Times Higher Education , referred to as THE) released the 2023 World University Rankings.
This ranking refers to the following five aspects of performance indicators: teaching (learning environment) (30%); research (number of papers, income and reputation) (30%); citation (scientific research influence) (30%); international outlook (academic personnel, students and research) (7.5%); industry income (knowledge transformation) (2.5%).
This year, 1799 universities from 104 countries and regions were listed on the list , an increase of 137 from last year.
Among them, there are 27 universities in Asia among the top 200 universities in the world. Mainland Chinese universities have entered the list of the Fortune 200. There are 11 universities in Hong Kong, China, 1 in Taiwan, China, 6 in South Korea, 22 in Singapore, and 2 in Japan.
Mainland Chinese universities perform
Mainland Chinese universities continue to climb steadily, shaking the dominance of the United States. In this ranking, there are 95 universities in mainland China on the list, among which Tsinghua University ranked first in Asia, is also the best university in mainland China (16th place), Peking University followed closely behind , ranking 17th in the world.

As the performance of Asian universities led by mainland China continues to rise, the United States' traditional advantages in the world rankings continue to weaken. The number of U.S. universities entering the top 100 continues to decline, from a peak of 43 in 2018 to 34 this year.
Mainland Chinese universities continued to rise steadily, with the total average score increased from 35.9 three years ago to 41.8, shaking the dominance of the United States.
