From the renderings, it can be seen that the Zhang Daqian Museum is hidden in a lush area, surrounded by water, stone, pine and bamboo, showing a small and beautiful secluded temperament. It is reported that the Zhang Daqian Museum under construction will recreate the memories of the Bade Garden based on Daqian’s former residence in Brazil. The museum is expected to be completed and opened in September 2021.
In September last year, Sun Kai, the son of Zhang Daqian's disciple Sun Yunsheng, donated a total of 645 Zhang Daqian's items and paintings he inherited and collected to the Chengdu Municipal Government, realizing Zhang Daqian's long-cherished wish to return to his fallen leaves and "keep the pictures for future generations to see." During the same period, the construction of Zhang Daqian Art Museum was fully launched.
Sun Kai had previously stated that he wanted to rebuild the Bade Garden in an exclusive interview with the Oriental Morning Post. According to him, "Zhang Daqian personally designed the grass and trees in the Bade Garden and the strange stones of the lake, and found allusions and elegant names from ancient Chinese poems to name each scene. The garden not only has green bamboos and pine trees, flowers blooming in all seasons, and scattered courtyards, but also rare birds and beasts such as swans, peacocks, and spiritual apes. Sun Kai's father Sun Yunsheng is one of Zhang Daqian's closest disciples, who followed Zhang Daqian for 47 years. In 1956, Sun Yunsheng and his family moved to the Bade Garden, a Chinese-style garden created by Zhang Daqian near Sao Paulo, Brazil, to take care of Daqian's daily life and further study painting skills. Sun Kai often accompanied his father and Daqian when he was young, and was deeply loved by "Tai Teacher" Zhang Daqian. He and his father personally witnessed the formation of Zhang Daqian's artistic style of ink and color.
After Sun Yunsheng passed away in 2000, Sun Kai inherited the paintings given to his father by Zhang Daqian, nearly a thousand pink works, notes, letters, etc.

The reason why I consider these two places is because Shanghai is an external window and the main place where Zhang Daqian became famous in life. Sichuan is Zhang Daqian's hometown. Homesickness runs through the 34 years after he left Chengdu. One-third of the landscape paintings he created in his life are related to Sichuan's landscapes.

Sun Kai said that as early as 5 years before his father passed away in 1995, he began to have the idea of building the Daqian Art Museum. At that time, my father asked someone to write, recorded the matters about Dafengtang and Teacher Tai, and compiled them into a simplified version of "The Beautiful Intersection of Life" for publication. Later, many works were published one after another. "It would be a pity if these things were lost," said Sun Kai.

Sun Kai's donation covers works from Daqian from all periods, including 384 pieces of powder copies called "priceless" by Zhang Daqian. According to Sun Kai, in 1953, on his way back to Argentina from the United States, Zhang Daqian saw a flat wasteland near Sao Paulo, Brazil's largest city. Looking from the distance, the rain passed by the sky and the clear grass and trees made him feel as if he was back to his hometown Chengdu in an instant. So Zhang Daqian bought wasteland and built gardens, titled " Bade Garden". According to Portuguese pronunciation, the Mouji Town where Bade Garden is located was translated as "Mojie Town" to pay tribute to the Chinese Tang Dynasty poet and literary gardener Wang Wei (word Mojie).
