Almost every city has a "way of liberation". There are noise and bustle during the day and thousands of street lights at night. In people's hearts, the road to liberation is unique.
7 cities, 7 "Laws of Liberation", and 70 years of magnificent. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China, Qianjiang Evening News launched a special report - "Walking on the Road to Liberation". Today, the reporter walked into the quaint and modern Jiaxing Jiefang Road.
Jiaxing Jiefang Road, as early as the Tang and Song dynasties, there were thousands of lights
Jiaxing Jiefang Road is on the bank of the outer ring city river of Ringcheng Road . The east side of the old Jiaxing City starts from Chunbo Bridge in the south and ends at Xiuzhou North Road in the north. Jiefang Road first faces north and south, then bends to east and west, like a big "7".
This road has a long history. As early as the Tang and Song dynasties, there were already thousands of fireworks; during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, this area was Chunbofang and Beibanfang, which became a commercial circle outside the city. In the Qing Dynasty, the northeast section of Jiefang Road was commonly called Xihe Street and the northwest section was called Chaichangwan, which was more lively than the city market in Jiaxing.
After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the government merged Xihe Street and Chaichangwan Road and renamed Zhongzheng Road, which corresponded to Zhongshan Road at that time.
After the liberation of Jiaxing in 1949, local people demanded that Zhongzheng Road be renamed. The new regime, which was newly established, conformed to public opinion and renamed Zhongzheng Road to Jiefang Road, which contained the joy of the people of Jiaxing being liberated.

When Jiaxing was liberated, the People's Liberation Army also lived in my house

The Yu family, who lives next to Jiefang Bridge, No. 143 Jiefang Road, has lived here for nearly 80 years since the Republic of China. It can be said to be the best witness of the vicissitudes of this road for a hundred years.
The Yu family once had 10 siblings, and now there are 6 living here.
75-year-old Yu Yuezhen is ranked seventh in the old age and now she often goes out for a walk with her sixth sister, 82-year-old Yu Meiying. Opposite the home is the small cultural square, with a long corridor on the green lawn. You can see the beautiful scenery on the city river when you sit, and you can see the Jiefang Bridge and the imitation Ming and Qing houses on the opposite bank of the river. Every night, a cruise ship will pass by the river.
"I was born here and lived here for more than 70 years." Yu Yuezhen pointed to the place beside her and recalled her past: "It turned out that they were all factories, including electric light factories, breweries, printing factories, and Dexin Hospital. My father worked at Yongming Electric Lighting Company, which is the lawn. Later, he was transferred to the Minfeng Paper Factory, which was better-paid, so he had the money to buy the later big house."
The house had been demolished in 1980. In 1984, their family moved back and moved into the current residential building.
The residential building where the Yu family lives is now
"What we wrote in our household registration book is actually not No. 143." Yu Yuezhen pointed to the sign of "No. 143 Jiefang Road" and told reporters, "Look at the wall, it is No. 73!"
Sure enough, there were mottled black characters on the old wall: No. 73 Jiefang Road. Full of history. Before the demolition, the Yu family's house was like the old buildings opposite the city river today, with white walls and black tiles, three floors and a whole large building.
Back then, all 10 brothers and sisters of the Yu family lived in this house. Because the home is very large, residents nearby gather at Yu's house for meetings.
"Even the People's Liberation Army has come to live!" said my sister Yu Meiying proudly.
At dawn on May 7, 1949, Jiaxing was liberated.
At night, the crowd sang and danced and celebrated. The parade walked from Xinma Road to Jiahe Bridge, crossed Chunbo Bridge, crossed the bustling Zhongzheng Road, and then went up Xiucheng Bridge to enter the city and North Street.
The People's Liberation Army stayed in Jiaxing for a short time and headed north to Shanghai. It was during this period that the Yu family welcomed 7 People's Liberation Army cadres.
"At night, the People's Liberation Army knocked on the door from house to house: fellow villager, open the door."
Yu Meiying recalled, "At that time, many families lived for the People's Liberation Army. Our place was big, so there were 7 People's Liberation Army cadres living in. They were still here during the day. I was too young at that time and couldn't understand what they were talking about.I only remember that the day they were leaving, a female cadre gave me a white round-neck shirt, which was an adult's clothes, but we were all very happy. "
Shortly after the People's Liberation Army left Jiaxing, "Zhongzheng Road" was renamed "Jiefang Road".

Changes in Jiefang Road in the eyes of Dong Xiong, a scholar of literature and history:
Sun Yat-sen has been here. This was once the cradle of industrial
" editor-in-chief of "Nanhu District Chronicles" and expert of place name Dong Xiong, participated in the compilation of "Smoky and Rain Streets" and "The First Bay of the Canal Enters the Hebei-History Talks Jiefang Street". Both books record in detail the historical changes of Jiefang Road.
" The road name itself is related to the history of Jiefang Road. Mr. Sun Yat-sen once gave a speech at the Lanxi Guild Hall on this road. "Dong Xiong told reporters.
On December 8, 1912, Mr. Sun Yat-sen came to Hangzhou from Shanghai and passed by Jiaxing. He was a senior of the Revolutionary Revolution in 1911 and a well-known figure in Jiaxing. Mr. Chu Fucheng knew about this beforehand and invited Mr. Sun Yat-sen to give a speech in Jiaxing. At that time, the Lanxi Association in Chunbo Bridge, Xihe Street was chosen as the speech address. It was close to the Dongmen Railway Station, and there was a large courtyard with a wall, a temple platform about one meter above the ground, and a courtyard that could accommodate nearly a thousand people.
December 8 at 9:00 am Xu, Mr. Sun Yat-sen and his accompanying staff entered the Lanxi Association accompanied by Mr. Chu Fucheng and others. gave a speech for more than an hour, winning constant applause from the general public. After the speech, Mr. Chu Fucheng accompanied Mr. Sun Yat-sen and others to visit the Nanhu Yanyu Building, and took a photo with the welcome representatives.
"Jiefang Road is the cradle of modern industry in Jiaxing. "Dong Xiong said.
In 1910, Jiaxing Yongming Electric Light Company was founded on Xihe Street, and in 1912, Jiaxing Peri cloth factory was opened across the street of Yongming Company. These two companies were the earliest modern industries in Jiaxing. Yongming Company was occupied by the Japanese invaders during the War of Resistance Against Japan. It was jointly operated by the public and private in 1953 and state-owned in 1962. It was not until the factory site moved out of Jiefang Road in 1973.
Peri cloth factory was later renamed Jiahe Cloth Factory. After the public and private in 1951, it was changed to Nanhu Dyeing and Weaving Factory. The colored woven velvet produced was sold well overseas. At the end of the last century, the factory was renamed After the production, the old site was relocated, and the old site developed real estate.
On Jiefang Road, in addition to various shops along the street, there is a Jiaxing printing factory founded at the former site of Lanxi Guild Hall, as well as a brewery, paper factory, ironware club and silkworm seed farm, etc.
"The Jiefang Road in my memory is always filled with crowded people and bicycles. Every time I go to and from get off work, there are bicycle ringing and shouting. The entrances of several factories and the entrances of Chunbo Bridge are often blocked. Workers push their bicycles and move slowly, which has become a landscape on Jiefang Road. "Dong Xiong described it like this in his book "Historical Talks on Jiefang Streets".
"Now, Jiefang Road has completely changed its appearance, completely 'liberated', and the old factories have been demolished. "Dong Xiong said.
In 2001, the Jiefang Road section from Jiefang Bridge to Chunbo Bridge was expanded and completed. The road was 18 meters wide. A new residential residential community with a height and height was built on the east side of the road. On the west side, along the Xiushui River is a pleasing leisure grassland and small park. The Jiefang Road from Jiefang Bridge to Xiucheng Bridge was completed. According to the principle of repairing the old and being as old, the Ming and Qing commercial streets with pink walls and black tiles were restored on the banks of Xiushui River. The stone steps of the river port, the long door of the windows, and the flying eaves and horse head walls reflected Xiushui; famous villages in Jiangnan and Wuyue people The colorful flags and hotel flags of antique restaurants such as homes move in the wind and decorate the ancient streets.
The new Jiefang Road renovation plan is in the process of brewing.
This Jiefang Road, located in Nanhu District, Jiaxing, has its special historical significance and is destined to show a more outstanding appearance on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party.

The section from Fenshuidun to Yinghu Bridge is also known as Xiushui. It is an ancient and beautiful river in Jiaxing. It is said that the river water often appears in five colors and is named Xiushui. In Jiaxing in the Five Dynasties, Xiushui County was established in the Ming Dynasty, both of which were named after Xiushui. On the east bank of Xiushui, there are open grasslands and wide roads in parallel. The road turns north and west across Jiefang Bridge on the Changshui Xinhe River. Along Xiushui, it is a curved street that imitates the Ming and Qing houses.
