According to Taiwanese media reports, an accident occurred in the Taiwan Railway "Taroko" train on April 2 last year, killing 49 people. The Taiwan Supervisory Agency said this time (September 7) that Zhang Zhengyuan, former director of the Taiwan Railway Bureau, Qi Wenzhong, deputy head of the Taiwan Transportation Affairs Department and former acting director of the Taiwan Railway Bureau, Chen Zhongjun, former director of the Taiwan "Work Affairs Office", and others were impeached and transferred to the Taiwan Punishment Court.
At about 9:28 am on April 2, 2021, a 408th train from Shulin Station to Taitung Station, "Taruko Ziqiang" passed through Heren Station to Chongde Station. When leaving the south exit of Heren Tunnel, it collided with a truck that had previously been constructed on the track, slipped down from the slope and stopped on the track. All 8 carriages of the train derailed, causing 2 drivers and 47 passengers to die, and 1 cleaning staff and 212 passengers to be injured.
Taiwan Supervisory Agency issued a press release today stating that on September 6, the impeachment case filed by Ye Yijin , Cai Chongyi, Hongyizhang, Zhang Jufang and Wang Lizhen was reviewed and passed, and the impeachment case of three people was transferred to the Taiwan Punishment Court for trial.
