In our daily life, bleeding gums, as a very common thing, often makes people ignore its existence. In fact, tooth bleeding is one of the many major manifestations of oral diseases. There are many reasons for the occurrence of gums, both external irritation and internal diseases of the body may cause bleeding gums.
If you often bleed while brushing your teeth, you should pay attention. Gingival bleeding not only represents oral diseases, but also indicates systemic diseases, such as leukemia's autoimmune system and chronic diseases. What exactly causes gum bleeding?
The causes of disease can be divided into local factors and systemic factors (or diseases)
01
Local factors
1, local stimulation of plaque and tartar. The accumulation of plaque and tartar can be caused by food impaction, poor restorations, poor oral hygiene habits, etc., causing inflammation of periodontal tissue, such as plaque gingivitis, periodontitis, etc.
2, other local stimulants (nonplaque tartar) and bad habits. Under the stimulation of machinery, chemical, poor restorations, poor fillers, poor remedies and mouth-opening breathing, local inflammation, such as proliferative gingivitis, periodontitis, etc.
3. Local tissue allergies. When local contact with allergens occurs, it causes an allergic reaction, which causes redness, swollenness and bleeding when it affects the gums. Such as plasmacytic gingivitis.
4. Gingival trauma and periodontal surgery.
02
Systemic factors
1, endocrine changes. Under the influence of increased sex hormones and increased progesterone hormone , gingival tissues under mild stimulation trigger non-specific inflammation, resulting in bleeding gums, increased exudation, and gingival hyperplasia , etc. Such as gingivitis during adolescence, gingivitis during pregnancy and gingival tumors.
2. Systemic disease. Such as hematologic diseases, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, abnormal liver and kidney function, tumors, etc. The pathogenic method is usually to reduce the immunity of the whole body, which in turn leads to a decrease in resistance to local stimuli, inducing gingival inflammation; clotting system disorders; organic changes in blood vessels, dynamic changes in blood flow, etc.
3. Some other external factors that act on the whole body. Such as smoking and taking anticoagulant drugs.
What to do if the gums are bleeding? 01
First of all, you must develop good oral hygiene habits to prevent the occurrence of gingivitis and periodontitis; secondly, you must insist on brushing your teeth in the morning and evening, rinse your mouth after meals, remove dirt and food residues, and also prevent the formation of tartar and tartar .
02
In daily life, please choose toothpaste specifically for bleeding gums to brush your teeth. If it is caused by poor oral hygiene and a large amount of tartar and tartar (this condition is most common), you can go to the dentist to ask a doctor to clean your teeth and remove tartar and tartar (commonly known as tooth cleaning , medically called scrubbing and scraping treatment), and take oral antibiotics for one week. The gingival inflammation will be eliminated quickly and the bleeding will stop. Generally speaking, even if you don’t have bleeding gums, you should clean your teeth once a year.
03
It is very important to choose the correct brushing. The correct way is to combine vertical brushing and horizontal brushing. The key points of the vertical brushing method are: when brushing the lip and cheek surface and the tongue palatal surface of the posterior teeth, the bristles are parallel to the long axis of the teeth, the bristles point to the gingival edge, the bristles are at a 45° angle to the long axis, and turn the toothbrush. When brushing the teeth, brush the bristles downward along the gaps of the teeth. When brushing the lower teeth, brush from bottom to top. Repeat the same area 5 to 6 times. The horizontal brushing method is used to brush the back teeth and grind the closure surface, clean the gaps of the closure surface, and brush back and forth 8 to 10 times on each side.
04
If it is bleeding from gums caused by residual roots or residual crowns, the residual crowns and residual roots should be removed and dentures should be inlaid; if it is bleeding from gums caused by poorly made braces or poor restorations, the braces or refills should be remade.
05
Women should pay attention to maintaining oral hygiene during menstruation and pregnancy. Usually, bleeding gums can be significantly reduced after menstruation and pregnancy.
06
Many people always have bleeding gums when brushing their teeth due to the sudden increase in work pressure recently and have bad breath. While relaxing stress, it is recommended to go to a regular dental hospital for dental cleaning (i.e., teeth cleaning), and then adhere to the correct and effective brushing method.
How to prevent bleeding gums?
1. After meals, gingivitis should be rinsed in time. Patients can use mouthwash, which can eliminate most pathogenic bacteria in the mouth, make the breath fresh, and it is also effective in protecting the gums.
2. Keep brushing your teeth in the morning and evening. Patients with gingivitis should choose to brush their teeth with toothpaste. It is best to buy several different types of drug toothpastes with hemostasis effects to use alternately, and it is best to use different brands.
3. Some gum bleeding is caused by vitamin deficiency, so eating more vitamin-rich foods such as vegetables and fruits, supplementing vitamins can prevent gum bleeding. In addition, you can also dip a cotton swab soaked in hydrogen peroxide to apply the edge of the gums. If bubbles are formed, rinse your mouth with warm water, and then apply iodine glycerol or iodine three times a day until the gums heal.
4. Check oral health regularly to maintain teeth health. Generally speaking, it is 1 to 2 times a year. If patients with periodontal disease are treated and diagnosed early, and do not leave it alone.
