Zhuang Guanran, male, born in February 1944, from Shanghai. Professor and Master's Supervisor. Member of the Communist Party of China. He has served as director of the Department of Social Sciences (also known as the Department of Industry and Business Administration) and secretary of the Party Branch for more than 10 years. He graduated from the Department of Philosophy of Fudan University in 1966 and was assigned to work at the former Northwest Light Institute until his retirement in 2004. He has been engaged in the teaching and research of philosophy and social sciences for more than 30 years, and has taught many courses such as "Classic Works of Marxism", "Introduction to Dialectics of Nature", "Philosophy", "Science and Ethics", and "Corporate Culture" to graduate and undergraduate students, which has been popular with students. He has participated in the compilation or writing of more than 10 books, including "Encyclopedia of Chinese Ethics", "Ethics of Science and Technology", and "History of Western Science and Technology Ethics Thought", and has published many papers. Together with his partners, he has won the second prize of the first humanities and social science research achievements in higher education institutions in the country, the provincial "Five One Project" Award for spiritual civilization construction, etc. During his term as the head of the department, his department was rated as the "Chuangjia" advanced unit of provincial universities. From 1980 to 1981, he worked as a teacher to aid Tibet to teach at the Tibet Civil College. He has provided many theoretical guidance for party and government cadres, employees of enterprises and institutions, and self-study young people in society. In 1993, he was approved by the State Council to enjoy government subsidies and was elected as vice chairman of the Xianyang Federation of Social Sciences in 1996. After retirement, he has engaged in teaching, evaluation, supervision and other work.

These short 12 words concisely but truthfully summarize the tortuous and difficult development history of Shaanxi University of Science and Technology over the past 60 years, and are widely circulated on campus. However, how did this summary come about? Eyewitness and old professor Zhuang Guanran told us about the concise process of "three entrepreneurship, two relocations, and one transfer".
"Three entrepreneurship, two relocations, and one transfer" was born.
" In 2004, the school carried out an assessment of the undergraduate teaching work level of the Ministry of Education. In 9 of the same year, the school established an evaluation expert group, composed of 7 people. As one of the group members, I am responsible for indicators such as special projects. From then on, I began to explore the characteristics of our school."
talked about this experience, Teacher Zhuang had a very special emotion in his heart. As an old professor who has been working in the school for nearly 40 years, is familiar with the school history, has been to the former site of Beijing Light Industry College several times, and has also worked with many comrades from Beijing Light Institute, Teacher Zhuang feels that it is of great significance and glorious mission. Based on collecting relevant summary materials in the early stage, he kept thinking and pondering day and night. One day, while watching a TV program, he heard the term "self-improvement and hard work", which made him suddenly enlightened. "I think the term "eight words" is common, but it is very consistent with the actual experience of the school's development, and the connotation is more fulfilling and comprehensive."
On September 18, 2006, the school held a special symposium, with various departments, functional departments and personnel responsible for the evaluation. At this meeting, Teacher Zhuang put forward the argument that the excellent school spirit of "self-improvement and hard work" is a distinctive feature of our school, and discussed it from three aspects: from the vertical direction, it runs through the entire process of our school's development; from the horizontal direction, it is reflected in all work of our school; from the perspective of people and practice, it is reflected in the actual actions of leaders and teachers, students and staff at all levels. Teacher Zhuang also proposed: Looking back at the entire historical process of our school, it can be summarized as the historical process of "two relocations and three entrepreneurships". Because this is rare among colleges and universities across the country and is one of the characteristics of our school. "It is still difficult to relocate a family. Not to mention a university, but it has been relocated twice. It is not easy to start a business once, and it is even more difficult to start a business three times, and it is even more tiring." Speaking of this, Teacher Zhuang still feels deeply touched.
In December 2006, according to the school’s work needs, Teacher Zhuang sorted out his ideas and "submitted the paper" within a few days.After careful consideration, he wrote an article of about 7,000 words on December 19 under the title "The excellent school spirit of self-improvement and hard struggle is the distinctive feature of our school." The article summarizes it as follows: "Looking at the development history of our school, we have experienced the tortuous process of "one transfer, two relocations, and three entrepreneurship", and have endured more hardships than other schools. However, it is precisely in this ups and downs that our Shaanxi University of Science and Technology has tempered the excellent school spirit of self-improvement and hard work."
Later, the school added 'one transfer' on the basis of "two relocations and three entrepreneurships", which formed the term "one two three" and became more complete. Teacher Zhuang further explained: "A few years later, when she met Professor Zhang Meiyun, the then vice principal, she told me that based on the term "two relocations and three entrepreneurships", she suggested adding "one transfer". Because "transfer" belongs to the category of management system reform and has a great impact on our school. Therefore, "transfer" is also a challenge brought by changes, and we must actively adapt to this new change."
In 2007, on the eve of our school's undergraduate teaching level assessment experts from the Ministry of Education entering the school for evaluation, some evaluation experts from across the country were invited to provide guidance. They have fully understood the school’s development history over the past 50 years and affirmed the characteristics of “self-improvement and hard work”. According to the opinions of the experts, the school finally formed the first feature of "being rooted in the west, striving for self-improvement, and working hard, transforming spiritual motivation into high-quality educational resources", and reversed the order of "one transfer, two relocations, and three entrepreneurships" and turned it into "three entrepreneurships, two relocations, and one transfer", and wrote the final evaluation report.

Teacher Zhuang took the Marxist-Leninist teaching and research department and the later social science department as an example, "We have quite a few of us here here. The teacher graduated from famous universities such as Peking University, Renmin University, Fudan, Zhongshan, Nankai, etc., with relatively solid professional skills and good ideological and political qualities. In addition to teaching conscientiously, the teachers have not relaxed in scientific research. "At that time, we were engaged in scientific research and the funds were very tight! He also told us that the research conditions were insufficient at that time, and teachers often had to travel between Xi'an and Xianyang, trying every means to borrow from provincial libraries and brother colleges. In 1989, under the leadership of Xu Shaojin, the then director of the teaching and research department, the book "Science and Ethics" written by the philosophy group teacher was published by Shanghai People's Publishing House. It was rated as "This is a pioneering and innovative work" by the president of the Chinese Ethics Society. In 1995, it won the second prize of the first outstanding social science research achievement in higher education institutions in the country.
