First thing: A few words about Astra 6
As we all know, the new Astra is closely related to the latest Peugeot 308, although Opel emphasizes that it was designed at the company's German headquarters. It will be able to come with gasoline, diesel and plug-in hybrid engines with power from 110 to 225 horsepower (the top variant of 180 and 225 horsepower is a plug-in hybrid). The all-electric Astra-e will also be available within two years.
The latest Opel is at least 4mm more than the previous generation (4374mm longer), a little more — 13mm more — and its wheelbase is increased. It's lower and wider - in size chart and optically.
New design with known old Manta-style features front, etc. New Mokka and redesigned Grandland add vitality to the Astra body. The speech emphasized that the sixth generation was "exciting". I won't go that far, but it looks good and certainly not boring.
It impressed people
When the sheets fell off the exhibits, the reporters watching this spectacle would undoubtedly moan with joy, but it must be admitted that almost everyone nodded to express their gratitude. I am in this noble group. Not only that—I even murmured to myself with satisfaction.
Yellow varnish is the "release color" of the latest Astra. Obviously, this has nothing to do with lunch (except for offering after the speech). This is how to describe the varnish that appears on the first photo, ads and copies in the exhibition. In the case of Mokka, green was chosen, and in the case of Astra, yellow was chosen—very opaque.
I think the lines of Astra VI will look good in any paint job. White, black, red – absolutely no problem, especially the black roof and larger rims. If I really want to find a flaw in this design, I would look for it in the C-pillar area, maybe it's too wide. Or maybe I'm just looking for a hole.
The question is still about the appearance of the basic version
Will Opel’s simple, minimalist design also protect itself in the most common version on the road – that is, the equipment is more rudimentary, without two-color paint, the smallest rims and "balloon" tires? After all, Astra has always been a team favorite, and if Opel isn't pricing in a crazy way (or crazy, but at the same level as its competitors are crazy), that might not change.
They are very modern
I think Astra will look good anyway. Not only that—I dare say it may be better than the “related” Peugeot 308, because it has calmer lines and less aggressive. But maybe things change when I see 308 live because I haven’t seen it yet.

Then I sat in the back. Even if the tall editor sits in front, I feel comfortable. Head and knee space - plenty. There was a little less on the feet, but they could still be stuffed under the armchair. A nice addition is not only the rear airflow, but also the console with USB socket and buttons for heating the sofa.

is similar to Mokka. It's modern, but I think...a little too modest. In my opinion, the edges, sharp lines and - that's for sure - the piano black material is slightly overdose. Instead of minimalist , the whole thing turns to oversimplicity. It seems that the designers are a bit lacking in this idea. As comfort, the screen has a special reflective layer. Due to this, there is no need to install a roof.
Also, fortunately, the use of physical buttons including air conditioners has not been forgotten. It's very happy in Stellantis's attention, as many Peugeot or Citroen models don't have knobs or buttons that adjust the temperature and you have to take your eyes off the road. So it seems that when it comes to ergonomics, Astra won’t disappoint.
The new Opel steering wheel looks good, and the AGR seats that Opel loves to brag about are almost certainly still comfortable. The Astra is lower in position – 12mm below the predecessor. A new and advanced multimedia system is used. The new Opel Astra also features an improved driver assistance system, a 360-degree camera and better adaptive Intelli-Lux LED headlights. Although those from Astra V are good.
What is the price of the new Opel Astra? This is still a mystery. Price will determine whether the new model will be sold, and whether the customer prefers not only the golf and Focus but the Peugeot 308. My impression of the first meeting with the new model so far is positive. This is a very beautiful, neat and modern car. But why does he need so much shiny plastic inside? The lighting of the show was very ruthless to them.
I am waiting for a dynamic demonstration, i.e. driving. The first copies will be delivered early next year (hopefully!) to customers.
