The relevant allocation was originally scheduled to be reviewed by the Finance Committee last Friday (November 22), but it has not been processed on the same day. In a letter withdrawing the grant, the Hong Kong Treasury Bureau stated that it would submit relevant grant recommendations to the Finance Committee for consideration "as soon as possible within this legislative year."
This is the third time the SAR government has withdrawn funding for university engineering projects in two weeks. The Hong Kong Legislative Council Finance Committee originally planned to review the 1.418 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 1.274 billion yuan) allocation for the expansion project of Polytechnic University on the 15th of this month and provide teaching and research facilities for students of the School of Rehabilitation and Treatment Science and Optometry, but the SAR government temporarily withdraws the project due to "needing more time to explain" on the same day; as November 19, the SAR government sent a letter to the Hong Kong Legislative Council Working Group and withdraws a 340 million Hong Kong dollars (about 300 million yuan) allocation for the expansion of Polytechnic University's library, saying that Polytechnic University needs to review the project schedule due to recent incidents.
