1. Sweet potatoes currently need to move vines and weed
Regarding sweet potatoes moving vines, we call it "turning vines". Our farmers believe that it can improve the yield and quality of sweet potatoes, but in recent years another saying is that moving vines may reduce sweet potato production, which has no effect on increasing sweet potato production. However, our farmers "turn over" sweet potatoes once a year, and shovel grass at the same time. Generally, it is usually based on the growth of sweet potato vines in July. After "turning over vines", top dressing is still necessary. Move the vines, weed and apply top dressing holes.
(1) Sweet potatoes must lift the sweet potato vines, leave the ground, move from one direction to the other, pinch off the excess vines, retain one main vine, two side vines, and knock off the top core of the vine;
(2) There are weeds on the sweet potato bed manually, or eradicate them, and it may be inconvenient to use a hoe to hoe. Punch a hole between the two sweet potatoes, with a diameter of 10cm and a depth of about 10cm;
(3) Top dressing. You can mix and stir the nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium ternary compound fertilizer of 10 kg/mu and superphosphate 15 kg/mu to apply it to the soil in the hole. Avoid applying nitrogen fertilizer urea after applying.
2. "Seven longs, eight longs, and eight longs" sweet potatoes are going to top-dress recently
There is a proverb on our sweet potatoes: "Seven longs, and eight longs, and eight longs," which means that the sweet potato vines grow vigorously before the seventh month of the lunar calendar, and the sweet potato root balls expand and grow vigorously in the eighth month of the lunar calendar. At this time, you should chase the fertilizer at least once for sweet potatoes, and it is best to chase the fertilizer twice for large-scale planting. Sweet potatoes should be organic, environmentally friendly and green-growth, and should not be used in pesticides, plant growth hormones, or regulators. Sweet potatoes have a high demand for potassium fertilizers and , and like potassium crops. In the past, farmers all had wood ash, livestock and poultry manure, and cake fertilizers, but now there is no livestock in rural areas, and it is difficult to find fertilizers in farmers. You can use potassium chloride + superphosphate + compound fertilizer top dressing.
(1) Top dressing can be performed once in July of the lunar calendar. Sweet potato top dressing can be used for mixed compost 125 kg of wood ash / mu + 25 kg of cake fertilizer + 1,000 kg of chicken manure for fermentation for more than 45 days. Top dressing cannot be done without fermentation or fermentation time is not enough;
(2) If there is no farm fertilizer, 5 kg of potassium chloride + 15 kg of superphosphate + nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer 10 kg of top dressing;
(3) Scale-based planting of sweet potatoes can be followed by the second fertilizer, and the time is before and after the "Mid-Autumn Festival", and the amount of top dressing can be the same as the first time. Sweet potatoes are resistant to drought, but not waterlogging. Therefore, planting should be done with higher terrain and more acidic sandy loam, with high ridges and deep trenches and smooth drainage.
3. There is another proverb on our side: "A nest of potatoes, a handful of ash, harvest a lot of sweet potatoes."
Sweet potatoes were introduced to my country from South America, with high yields and strong sense of fullness. In an era of scarcity of staple food, sweet potatoes can help us overcome the famine. Our organic planting yield per mu is more than 3,000 kilograms, but now farmers only plant a few bits of land. In order to process sweet potato flour, eating too much sweet potatoes as meals will hurt the stomach. Many elderly people here have old stomach problems. It may be because of the reason why they eat too much sweet potatoes from the 1960s to the 1970s. Can eating sweet potatoes for half a year not hurt the stomach? Sweet potatoes are still grown organically in our place. The old ladies in the countryside sprinkle wood ash from cooking on fire to the sweet potato field every day. While sprinkling, he said, "A nest of potatoes, a handful of ashes, and a lot of sweet potatoes are harvested." This "ash" refers to the ash of plants and trees. Wood ash is rich in organic potassium, which is conducive to the absorption of sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes like potassium crops, so potassium fertilizer should be the main focus on fertilization and avoid nitrogen fertilizer. For base fertilizer, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer may be used, and for top dressing, compound fertilizer may be used. But our farmers think it is better to use wood ash and farm fertilizer. Sweet potatoes are not the main crop in the middle season, and applying chemical fertilizers is not cost-effective.
