English Queen is buried in King George VI Memorial Church
Zhang Huadong
Yesterday I posted an article about the queen's funeral, but the description of the place where the queen was buried was a bit incomplete, because the official account cannot add or modify too many texts after it is posted. Today I will write a short article to explain it.
On the afternoon of September 19, the last farewell ceremony before the burial was held for the Queen at the St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.

It can be said that this church is the queen's favorite and frequent visitor place. Here, she spent many Christmases and attended several weddings of her grandson and granddaughter. She also gave her husband a mourning ceremony here and attended the memorial ceremony. I guess everyone still remembers the heartbreaking photo of the queen sitting alone at one end of the church, wearing black.

19 7:30 pm, King Charles III and the queen's immediate relatives attended the queen's burial ceremony. First, the queen's coffin was taken out from the underground resting place together with her husband, Prince Philip, and then they were buried together in the "The King George VI Memorial Chapel" on the side of St. George's Church, and buried with her parents (King and Queen) and her sister (House Margaret) ashes.

There is information that shows that the "King George VI Memorial Church" was completed in 1969, and then the body of George VI was transferred here from the resting place 5 meters underground in the royal area. In 2002, the Queen's mother and sister were buried here after her death. The body of the queen's husband Prince Philip, who died last year, was temporarily placed in the underground royal resting place. This time, as mentioned above, his coffin was also moved with the Queen to the Memorial Church of King George VI for funeral. According to the " Daily Mail ", King George VI Memorial Church is the only added building since the 1500s.

Regarding the Queen's coffin was temporarily stored in the underground royal resting place in the afternoon of the same day. It is said that it is 5 meters underground and only about 10 rest acupoints are left. It is estimated that this is why the "King George VI Memorial Church" was added. The picture below is a picture of the underground royal resting place from the Internet.

The picture above shows the 1936 King George V (the queen's grandfather, the old president of the Royal Mail Society of England) who was buried underground in the resting place after the funeral. His coffin was temporarily placed here. Later, he (1939) and the queen (1953) were buried in the hall of the church together. The number "5" in the picture below is the location of the sarcophagus of George V and his wife). The square mouth in the middle is the burial mouth (the picture below "13"), which is where the Queen of England was placed in the church at the final farewell ceremony (see the photo of the Queen's coffin in the church above).
