in 78 games, Derozan didn't have a game with less than 10 points, in the playoffs in 10 games he had two of them including a game where he went 0-8.
playoffs are different, defenses are much better and focused, thats why u see players choke and not be as good as in the regular season, the pressure and the defense
In 78 games, DeRozan scored in double figures in every game, but in the ten games of the playoffs, There were two instances of not scoring in double figures, including an 0-for-8 game.
The playoffs are different. The defense is stronger and more focused. This is why you see players getting stuck and they are unable to perform as well as they did in the regular season. Mainly because of pressure and defensive intensity.

Yet LeBron goes into another gear for the playoffs.
But James still has a way to become another state in the playoffs.

LeBron is an all time great, these guys are just all star level players, there have been hundreds of players like DeRozan or Thomas, there have only been two players as good as LeBron
James is a historical superstar. These people are All-Star players. There have been hundreds of players similar to DeRozan and Thomas in history, but there have only been two players at the same level as James.

hes 5'9" and dropped 53 in the playoffs, due to his size imo there will be nights when he pretty much has to pass and the celtics still won a lot of games like that even tho he wasn't the biggest scoring punch because he can provide other things. he brings more to the table than just scoring 20+ imo.
He only has 175 but scored 53 points in the playoffs. Considering his size, there will definitely be games where he has to pass the ball, but the Celtics are in games where he is not the first scoring firepower. Still won a lot of games, because he can still make other contributions besides scoring. In my opinion, his contribution is not just averaging 20+ points per game.

he had to. pass more in order for the celtics to get past the wizards. there was too much attention on him and celtics were getting killed. IT made the adjustments and they paid off.
He needed to make more passes before Celtic finally Over Wizards . He got too much attention, and the Celtics were about to lose. Thomas made adjustments, and finally the adjustments paid off.

It sounds like his hip has been a much bigger issue than anyone ever guessed. Celtics were surprised he wasn't shut down in Washington series.
Between that and his sister, the guy has been through a lot more than most. I wouldn't really judge his performance for anything.
I think his hip injury seems to be more serious than everyone suspected. The fact that he was not locked up in the series against the Wizards should have surprised the Celtics.
Between the hip injury and what happened with his sister, he's been through more than most of us. I won't comment on his performance.

People should actually bother watching the games before talking. He didnt choke in the playoffs at any point. 3 of those games were against the bulls which the Celtics won all 3. He simply didnt need to score 20+ in some games because he was getting doubled and had to give up the ball. Lets not forget he was apparently playing with an injury, had a death in his family right before the playoffs, and had an 11 hour surgery. Despite all this, he didnt miss a single game and dropped multiple 30+ point games, as well as a fucking 53 point game. Really the only time you can blame him is for the last 2 games against the cavs (which theyre not supposed to win and are completely outmatched. Im just tired of all the disrespect he still gets despite proving everyone wrong his whole life.
You should watch his games before talking casually. He has never been stuck in the playoffs. The three games the poster mentioned were against the Bulls . Those three games. Celtic Everyone won, he didn't need to score 20+ in those games because he was double-teamed and had to get the ball out, and we can't forget that he was playing with injuries, which he suffered at the beginning of the playoffs. I was devastated by the death of my loved one and underwent an 11-hour surgery (on my teeth). Based on these things, he has not missed any game and has played many times with 30+ performances in a single game. Of course there is also Ritian’s 53 points. The only thing that can be blamed on him is his performance in the last two games against Cavaliers (although they couldn't win in the first place and the matchup was completely restrained). But I'm really fed up with him being so disrespected when he's spent his life proving everyone else wrong about him.

Teams really game planned to shut him down. When they did, he adjusted and passed to guys for open looks more. When those players with open looks actually made the shots, the Cs won. When they missed....they got blown out. His turnovers did go up a little in the playoffs from 2.8 to 3.3.
The teams all came up with tactics to lock him down. When they do execute, he adjusts his game to get the ball to open teammates more often. When those open teammates can actually hit the shot, the Celtics win. When they can't make shots...the Celtics get beat. His turnovers did go up in the playoffs, from 2.8 to 3.3.

He's also been playing with a hurt hip since mid March and re-aggravated the injury multiple times during this playoff run...
While playing, he aggravated his injuries multiple times in the playoffs.

Shut down a lot? You did not watch any of the games. lol
3 or 4 of those games he didn't even need to score 20+ and we still won.
16 point against Chi , C's win 104-87
12 points against Chi, C's win 105-83
18 points against the Wiz. C's win 123-101
Celtics fans: Got locked out many times? ? ? Haha, maybe you didn’t watch those games.
There are 3 or 4 games where we don't need him to score 20+ points to win. When
scored 16 points against the Bulls, they won 104-87. When
scored 12 points against the Bulls, they won 105-83. When
scored 18 points against the Wizards, they won 123-101.

I mean, he is known for scoring a bunch in the fourth quarter. Kind of hard to do that when you're sitting on the bench in a blowout.
I mean, he is known for scoring a bunch in the fourth quarter. He is famous for his ability to score crazy points in the fourth quarter. If he sits on the bench during the game, it will be difficult to score many points in the fourth quarter.

You're conveniently leaving out his FG% in those games. Just because they didn't need him to win, doesn't mean he didn't get shut down.
There's a big difference between going like 6/11 for 15 points in a blowout win where you played 24 minutes vs going 7-18 for 16 points in 31 in a blowout win (IT G3 vs Bulls).
You are so comfortable that you just missed the shooting percentage in those games. He's playing like that because they don't need him to play to win, and that doesn't mean he's locked in either. There is a big difference between
scoring 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting in 24 minutes in a poor game and 16 points on 7-of-18 shooting in 31 minutes (Thomas' third game against the Bulls).

Yet no one is talking about his assists in these games. Multiple 10+ assists games when he was under 20 points.
There were many assists in double figures during the game.

In nearly all of those wins he was kicking the ball out for assists.
I guess you could say that a star is truly not shut down if they just play off the double team , but even LeBron James hardly does that and continuously kicks out for the open 3 or whatever. Maybe his FG% was low; but his presence still led to the W- I wouldn't call that getting shut down. It would be getting shut down if he were removed from the offense and couldn't playmake against the double team.
In almost those winning games, he distributed the ball to assist his teammates. .
I think if a star is double-teamed, it cannot be said that they are locked up. But even James will not always be double-teamed and distribute the ball all the time. Maybe his shooting percentage will be low, but his presence on the court will still lead them to victory in the end. I wouldn't call it being locked in. If he completely disappears on the offensive end and cannot create offensive opportunities at all when facing double teams, it is called being locked.

Because its the "choke" narrative. Choking means you didnt perform when your team needed you most. As we can see, he clearly performed when he was needed, and as literally every player not named Lebron, he had some bad games.
Because we are talking about getting stuck. Being stuck means that you failed to perform as well as you should when the team needs you most. We can all see that when the team needs him, he has been there for the team. Also, except for a player named James, everyone else will occasionally play some poorly performed games.

It's unreal how much disrespect IT gets. What he does for his size is unique. He has his challenges but still I don't remember seeing anyone like him. Stars with better physique like Lowry , DeRozan, Kyrie and so many more can't even match what he has done this year but people still keep finding faults. His defense is going to be a problem. He is the shortest star player in the league. People said he is going to be shut down in playoffs. He has outplayed Wall ,Beal, Butler, and pretty much everyone so far. He is pick # 60 guys. Look where he is now. Choke is the last thing I can ever think about IT when stars like LeBron (2011 mavs finals, 2010 Celtics ECF), Harden (Finals against Heat, this year) have quit on their teams or choked hundreds of times before. What are the excuses there? Despite sisters death, surgery on teeth, he didn't take a break.
The disrespect Thomas received was incredible. What he does for his size is so unique. He had his share of challenges but I still can't remember meeting anyone like him. Some stars have better physical conditions, such as Lowry, DeRozan, Irving, and many others, but they cannot achieve his performance this year, but people are still always criticizing him.His defense will be an issue. He is the shortest star in the league and so on. People say he's a lock in the playoffs. But he played better than Wall, Bill, Butler, and even everyone. He's the 60th pick, folks. Look what he has accomplished now. Stuck is the last word that comes to mind when I think of Thomas, considering James (in the 2011 Finals against Dallas, 2010 in the Eastern Conference Finals against Celtics), Harden (in the Finals against Heat, and this year) ) have abandoned their teams many times, or have been stuck many times before. What excuse do they have? Aside from the death of his sister and the dental surgery, little Thomas really didn't relax at all.
