According to Fu Rujian, living conditions in Bohou Village were very difficult in the past. During typhoons, seawater intrusion easily occurred, turning farmland into saline-alkali land. At the same time, the income structure of villagers is also relatively simple, mainly relying on leasing land, planting and breeding, or going out to work.
Since 2017, Bohou Village has taken advantage of the development of beautiful countryside and relied on the resources and platform of Sanya Yalong Bay National Resort to vigorously develop the homestay industry, bringing new sources of income to the villagers, and the villagers' "pocket pockets" have gradually expanded. got up. In the 2019 Spring Festival month, the total revenue of Bohou Village B&B was nearly 10 million yuan. In Fu Rujian’s view, the B&B industry cluster in Bohou Village has the characteristics of “small but refined, excellent and diverse, and concentrated but prosperous”, which is different from the many star-rated hotels around Sanya Yalong Bay. "Tourists can get closer to rural nature and local culture here, and experience local experiences that hotels cannot satisfy."
In order to standardize the management of B&Bs and provide better services to tourists, Bohou Village has also established the Jiyang District B&B Association of Sanya City , aiming to solve the problems such as low-price dumping and homogeneity in the operation of B&Bs in villages by setting entry barriers, so that the B&B industry can truly promote the sustainable development of the rural economy.
In addition to developing B&Bs, Fu Rujian said that Bohou Village has also opened farmhouses, bars, barbecue gardens and other small shops to provide tourists with one-stop services of "eating, drinking, accommodation and entertainment", enriching the economic formats surrounding the B&Bs and broadening the source of income for villagers.
