International Day for Biological Diversity: Protect tuna!
Today is International Day for Biodiversity (International Day for Biodiversity Diversity). Biodiversity is a concept that describes the degree of diversity in nature. Jiang Zhigang et al. (1997) defined biodiversity as: " Biodiversity is the ecological complex formed by organisms and their environment, as well as the synthesis of various ecological processes related to it, including animals, plants, and microorganisms. and the genes they possess and the complex ecosystem they form with their living environment".
Today I would like to introduce to you the tuna known as the giant panda in the sea. This large bony fish that is both familiar and unfamiliar to us is very fascinating. The largest Atlantic bluefin tuna can reach 4.6 meters long and 685 kilograms. Heavy and huge body.
Tuna on the taxonomy refers to the genus Thunnus, which is divided into two subgenus: Thunnus, also known as the bluefin group; and the new tuna subgenus, also known as the yellowfin group.
Tuna subgenus includes 5 species, namely albacore tuna (T. alalunga), southern bluefin tuna (T. maccoyii), bigeye tuna (T. obesus), Pacific blue fin tuna (T. orientalis) and Atlantic bluefin tuna (T. thynnus).
The new tuna subgenus includes three species, namely yellowfin tuna (T. albacares), blackfin tuna (T. atlanticus) and long-tail tuna (T. tonggol).
Due to long-term overfishing, two species of tuna are currently classified as Vulnerable (VU), one is Endangered (EN), and one is Critically Endangered (CR). The existence of tuna is very important to the marine ecosystem. Protect tuna and protect the earth's biodiversity!
