The disaster-stricken factory did not produce smartphones

In recent days, many places in Henan have continued to suffer heavy rainfall, and severe flooding occurred in cities such as Zhengzhou. During this round of heavy rainfall, Zhengzhou Airport Port Area, where Foxconn Zhengzhou Science and Technology Park is located, became the "lucky one".

, Wang Xue, deputy general manager of Foxconn Zhengzhou Science and Technology Park, said in an interview with China News Service reporter that Foxconn Technology Group has three factory areas in Zhengzhou, collectively known as Foxconn Zhengzhou Science and Technology Park. The largest factory area is located in Zhengzhou Airport Port Area, which is what the outside world calls the port area Foxconn, with a total area of ​​nearly 5.6 million square meters. The second largest factory area is located in the Eighth Street, Zhengzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, also known as the Eighth Street Foxconn. Both factories produce smartphones and their components. Among them, port area Foxconn assumes nearly 80% of Foxconn's smartphone production capacity in the mainland. The third factory area is located in Baisha Town, Zhengdong New District, also known as Baisha Foxconn. It mainly produces PC computer connectors and does not produce smartphones.

Wang Xue introduced: "Foxconn production and operation in the port area has been stable; Foxconn on the Bada Street was affected by the power outage, and employees gradually resumed production and operation on the evening shift on the 22nd, and on the morning of the 24th, the Baisha factory area was severely affected. On the 21st, more than a thousand employees were besieged in the apartment area and Fukang Jiayuan Community, waiting for rescue and help in an environment with water and power outages, and are currently recovering in an orderly manner."

orders are sufficient and the workload is large. It is optimistic about the outlook for the second half of the year. At around 13:00 on the 124th, a group of workers began to return to their posts after lunch. In the huge workshop, workers were busy with production operations on several production lines.

"This production workshop has more than 10,000 square meters, which is larger than a standard football field. Currently, nearly 2,000 workers work here." A person in charge of the production workshop introduced, "This place has not been affected by the flood situation, production is normal, and employees go to work normally."

The official WeChat message of Zhengzhou Airport Port District also shows that during the flood prevention period, production enterprises in the whole district did not stop work and production, especially more than 100,000 Foxconn employees went to and from get off work safely.

Not only that, Foxconn Zhengzhou Science and Technology Park's various business groups are actively recruiting workers in order to prepare for mass production of new products. According to the official account of its business group, the bonus of internal recommended partners will be increased from July 24.

"At present, our park has sufficient orders, large labor volume, and a large gap in front-line workers." Wang Xue introduced, "In the future, we will give priority to hiring the affected people."

He revealed that on July 23, Liu Yangwei, chairman of Foxconn's parent company Hon Hai , said at the company's shareholders' meeting that the heavy rain in Zhengzhou has little impact on performance and is optimistic about the outlook for the second half of the year.

How about other Foxconn factory areas in Henan?

The reporter learned from Foxconn Zhengzhou Science and Technology Park that the Foxconn Hebi factory located in northern Henan was affected by heavy rainfall. On July 22, the north and south main roads of the factory were seriously flooded. Measures such as urgently pushing down the fence on the south side and stacking flood prevention sand and gravel at the north gate were taken to force drainage of water and blocking flood water. Due to the high terrain of the factory and the rapid water discharge, work has resumed in full swing on July 23.

Foxconn's other factories in Henan, such as Jiyuan , Lankao , and Zhoukou plants, were not affected by the flood situation, and production was normal.
