Recently, the Yuetang Police Station of the Hetang Public Security Bureau of Zhuzhou City eliminated this fraud gang in one fell swoop based on reports from the public, and detained 6 criminal suspects, including the owner of the health club, involving a case worth nearly 400,000 yuan.
Getting a massage turned into a cure
In 2018, Ms. Yang, who was nearly 70 years old, applied for a foot massage card under the introduction of the salesperson of the health club. During a shopping trip, Ms. Yang revealed to the foot-washing technician that she had been suffering from foot pain recently and couldn't exert herself. If not treated quickly, there would be a risk of paralysis. After hearing what the other party said, Ms. Yang was frightened and hurriedly asked about the treatment method. Mr. Lei told Ms. Yang that he had a secret recipe passed down from his ancestors, which could treat Ms. Yang's illness by massaging acupoints with essential oils. In this way, Ms. Yang charged 10,000 yuan to the card.
During the subsequent "treatment" process, Ms. Yang was "detected" by the staff of the health club and found to have tumors in her bladder, toxins in her blood, liver ascites , and liver cancer . In order to "treat illnesses", Ms. Yang recharged a total of 130,000 yuan in the health club.
Suddenly one day, Ms. Yang suddenly fainted during a massage. Afterwards, the more she thought about it, the more something was wrong, so she called the police.

After the police arrived at the scene, they found that the conditions of the health club were poor and the charges were not proportional to the grade of the place. More importantly, the technician who massaged Ms. Yang and Mr. Lei, who was born in a family of traditional Chinese medicine doctors, had no medical qualifications at all. Zheng Zhiyang, a police officer from Yuetang Police Station, said: "From the owner to the staff of this health club, all of them only have elementary school to junior high school education."
Through investigation, it was found that the owner of this health club, Mr. Ma, had been exposed to the massage industry. Because regular massages can't make much money, Ma found specialized health terminology from the Internet and organized employees to learn it. In the actual operation of , as long as a customer reveals something about themselves that feels uncomfortable, Ma and others will make up their identities as health experts, traditional Chinese medicine doctors, etc. to intimidate and deceive customers, and then induce them to apply for a card. Ma admitted that they used ordinary massage techniques and ordinary essential oils, which only had the effect of relaxing muscles and relieving stress, but could not cure the disease at all.
Six criminal suspects, including Ma, the owner of the health club, have all been detained on suspicion of fraud, and the case is still being processed. Currently, the police have received reports from 14 victims, involving cases worth nearly 400,000 yuan.
