Wang Qiutong, consultant of the Hong Kong Artists Association and author of "Brilliant Glory":

Backed by the motherland, Hong Kong's prospects are getting better and better

I use the form of urban ink to express the bright night scene of fireworks blooming in Victoria Harbor to present it. Hong Kong has entered a new era - returning to the embrace of the motherland. The reason why I chose to use fireworks to express it is because every important festival in Hong Kong will hold a fireworks display. The fireworks illuminate the starry sky, the cheers thunder, and the peaceful and prosperous times are displayed in front of people's eyes. In the 25 years since Hong Kong returned to the motherland, all aspects of its economy and society have achieved steady development. I believe that with the support of the motherland, Hong Kong will have better prospects.

Urban ink painting is a new form of ink painting that transforms Chinese painting into modern times. I came to Hong Kong in the 1970s and started exploring urban ink painting in the late 1980s, and I have never stopped until now. Many of my urban ink paintings have participated in major national exhibitions and won awards. In the work "Brilliant Colors Shine on the River", I used more colors to add color to the ink to express it. I have painted relatively few fireworks. They come in various forms. It is a challenge to paint a splendid scene. I like to use the form of urban ink to express urban landscapes, urban customs, humanistic feelings, etc. from many aspects, so as to better describe Hong Kong, an international metropolis where Chinese and Western cultures blend.

This exhibition is an important cultural and artistic exchange event in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and is very meaningful. Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao have complementary advantages and will surely build a world-class bay area in the future. After Hong Kong returned to , the country took care of Hong Kong in all aspects, and the construction of the Greater Bay Area provided Hong Kong with new development opportunities. I believe that the Hong Kong that I and the people of the country love will get better and better. (Compiled by interview with our reporter Gong Liang)

Zhu Dacheng, honorary consultant of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Hong Kong and author of "Home":

National security and a good family are the best wishes for Hong Kong compatriots

"As graceful as a startled dragon, graceful as a dragon." The art of Chinese calligraphy is exquisite and profound, and it is a representative symbol of Chinese culture. I have been exploring the three-dimensional visual expression of flat calligraphy art for many years. In 2011, I made a three-dimensional cursive Chinese character "家" out of stainless steel for the Chinese University of Hong Kong. On the anniversary of Hong Kong's "returning home", nothing can express the Hong Kong compatriots' love for their country, Hong Kong and their homeland better than the word "home". Therefore, I decided to create the word "home" again, reduce the size of the sculpture that was 3 meters high in the past, change some structures, and use copper to create this work "Home" suitable for indoor exhibitions.

In my eyes, calligraphy has a front and a back, and is interspersed with the front and back. I apply this structure to sculpture, using the thickness of the form and the smoothness and roughness of the surface to simulate the brush strokes of calligraphy. The flexibility of calligraphy combined with the 360-degree sense of sculpture makes it appear more substantial than on paper. This sculpture is a high degree of combination of traditional Chinese culture and modern artistic language. It conveys the best wishes in the hearts of Hong Kong compatriots.

Backed by the motherland, Hong Kong has been developing steadily over the past 25 years. Its citizens live and work in peace and contentment, and its international influence has been greatly enhanced. The historical origins and overseas platform advantages of "Lingnan School" in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao have created a good atmosphere for the development of culture and art in the three places. The country supports Hong Kong in developing a cultural and artistic exchange center between China and foreign countries, and the SAR government has also established a new Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau. I am full of expectations for this. The Greater Bay Area will surely become a new highland for humanities. (Compiled by interview with our reporter An Shenglan)

Shen Ping, President of the Hong Kong Watercolor Research Association and author of "Golden Harbor":

Hong Kong has become even more shining in the 25 years since its return

My family lives on the edge of the bay, and I often look out from the window. It is such a golden harbor. Hong Kong has developed from a small fishing village into an international metropolis. There are many touching stories. The harbor I painted has many representative buildings of Hong Kong. There are yachts, gondolas and small fishing boats on the sea. In terms of technique, my paintings are relatively rough, not the kind of sophisticated depictions. I crumpled the paper first and then painted it. It has a lot of mottled texture. This texture effect actually carries a kind of historical precipitation and traces of history. The color is golden, and under the sun, the harbor shines brightly, symbolizing the beautiful Hong Kong and wishing Hong Kong a better tomorrow after experiencing ups and downs.

As a Hong Kong painter, I have the obligation to depict Hong Kong’s yesterday, today and tomorrow. Hong Kong and the Mainland share the same culture and ethnicity. Hong Kong has been a part of China since ancient times and will inevitably return to the motherland. I watched the live broadcast of the Hong Kong handover ceremony between China and Britain 25 years ago, and I still clearly remember the scene at that time. Hong Kong is a tolerant and friendly city. When floods and earthquakes occurred in the mainland in the past, Hong Kong people generously donated money, money and materials. At the beginning of the country's reform and opening up, Hong Kong people also actively contributed. Nowadays, the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is a great opportunity. We went to the mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area to collect works. It felt very good and further expanded the horizons of Hong Kong painters. (Compiled by interview with our reporter Gong Liang)

Chairman of the Macau Artists Association and author of "Working Together" Shao Yanliang :

Only by working together can we not be afraid of wind and rain

In August 2017, Typhoon No. 13 "Hato" struck Macao. Wherever the typhoon went, it was a mess. Trees were uprooted, and houses were damaged a lot. Everywhere you looked, there was devastation. Before I could care less about my sadness, I saw the officers and soldiers of the People's Liberation Army Garrison in Australia. They worked with the police and citizens to rescue the affected citizens. Natural disasters are merciless, but there is love in the world. As descendants of the same ancestry and origin, we are a family with no distinction between each other.

This is a realistic watercolor painting. The People's Liberation Army, police and citizens are standing on the ruins, either holding shovels to clean the collapsed brick walls, or holding garbage bags to fill with debris... They help each other, work together, focus and with love. The elements in the painting are full but not messy, and the colors are well-proportioned and harmonious. Although the movements, postures and expressions of the characters in the painting are different, there is no sense of conflict, but a harmonious beauty. This is the visual experience I want to bring to the audience with this painting, and I also want to convey to people a spirit of not being afraid of wind and rain, working together, and being responsible and loving.

It is an encouragement to me that this painting can be exhibited in the National Museum and be seen and liked by more people. Through this exhibition, I can see more fine paintings from Hong Kong and the Mainland. This is also an opportunity for exchange and learning. As the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area continues to advance, Macao’s contacts and exchanges with other cities in the Greater Bay Area have become closer and more frequent, which will give us more inspiration and motivation to create more and better works. Cui Xiaodong, professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and author of "Hong Kong Lion Rock":

highlights the momentum of Lion Rock and the vitality of Hong Kong

I learned that it could be created for the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland, despite my busy work , I happily participate. In this art exhibition, there are many paintings depicting figures, but I paint landscapes. What kind of scenery should I choose to express Hong Kong? There is a Lion Rock in Hong Kong, which witnesses the arduous development of Hong Kong from a small fishing village to an international metropolis; and the Hong Kong spirit of hard work and constant self-improvement represented by the Lion Rock has inspired generations of Hong Kong people to strive tenaciously. So, I decided to paint the Lion Rock, which symbolizes the spirit of Hong Kong.

After carefully studying the information related to Lion Rock and doing enough desk work, I spent nearly half a month creating this painting: the visual center of the picture is the majestic Lion Rock, hidden among the green trees and rolling mountains. In the meantime, the "lion" crouching on the top of the mountain looks ahead at the vibrant Hong Kong cityscape with numerous high-rise buildings, and in the distance is the blue sea under the morning glow. What I painted was Hong Kong in the morning, deliberately highlighting the momentum of Lion Rock and the vitality of Hong Kong, which heralded a new beginning for Hong Kong on the 25th anniversary of its return to the motherland.

I have deep feelings for Hong Kong. As early as 24 years ago, to celebrate the first anniversary of the return of Hong Kong, I and several other painters jointly created the 12-meter-long landscape scroll "Splendid China". The painting was presented to the Hong Kong SAR Government as a gift by the central government. Since then, I have been very concerned and concerned about the development of Hong Kong. I hope to use the paintbrush in my hand to participate in and support the cause of Hong Kong. Participating in this exhibition is to use pen and ink language to express our expectations for a better tomorrow for Hong Kong. I firmly believe that with the backing of the motherland, Hong Kong will get better and better. (Compiled by interview with our reporter Fang Li)

Wu Weijian, Chairman of the Macau Art Association and author of "Leading Prosperity":

The main theme of patriotism and love for Macao will surely become louder and louder

Macau - a beautiful city in the southern corner of the motherland, with an area of Although small, it has all the necessary features. Over the past 20 years since returning to the motherland, all industries have flourished, the economy has taken off, and residents' lives have become more colorful. This work of mine chose the most iconic and busy road section in the downtown area as the subject: the two major note-issuing banks in Macau - Bank of China and Atlantic Bank are located on the left and right sides, and in the middle and far away is Macau. The three leading gaming companies, Macau, Wynn and Macao Entertainment, coupled with the bustling traffic and crowds, present a prosperous scene of Macau's economy taking off and its society flourishing.

Macau has long been influenced by Western culture, and traditional Chinese culture is a lingering sentiment among local artists. As one of them, I often inadvertently integrate Chinese and Western cultural elements in the process of creating watercolor paintings, regardless of the materials used or the techniques used to express them, thus forming my own painting characteristics. In addition to painting, I have also been engaged in the design of Macao stamps for 40 years. Together with the latest set of stamps issued last month, I have designed 55 sets of 245 stamps. After the return of

, our artistic materials have become more and more abundant. There are too many subjects worth depicting the new construction and humanistic features in Macao and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. With the increasing exchanges between Macao and the mainland art circles, the art works of Macao artists have attracted more and more attention and attention. The main theme of Macao's art circles, patriotism and love for Macao, will surely become louder and louder. (Compiled by interview with our reporter Gong Liang)

Chen Zhi, deputy dean and professor of Tianjin Painting Academy and author of "My Chinese Heart":

Shows the national pride and cultural confidence of the Chinese people

I am a peer of the reform and opening up. When designing the art creation theme for the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland, I recalled the scene when I saw Zhang Mingmin singing "My Chinese Heart" on TV when I was a child. This song's catchy melody and heartfelt lyrics had a great impact on me as a child. It is a profound memory of Hong Kong for our generation.

When engaging in artistic creation, technical techniques are the foundation, and the ideological nature of the work is even more critical. Good works must be thoughtful and contagious, and the creator must first be emotionally full. I listened to and hummed "My Chinese Heart" over and over again, and my heart was extremely surging. I deeply felt the pride of being Chinese, and the desire of the Hong Kong literary and art circles to identify with the motherland and to return. With this enthusiasm, I am good at painting meticulous painting . For the first time, I used freehand brushwork to depict a scene where time and space overlap: on the streets of Hong Kong, Zhang Mingmin, in his sixties, led a group of children holding five-star red flags to sing a duet. "My Chinese Heart"; on the big screen behind him, footage of him singing at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala in 1984 was playing.

's participation in this creation has made me pay more attention to and think about what Hong Kong's literary and art circles are thinking, and I can more clearly feel the long and splendid history and culture of the Chinese nation. I hope that at such a special moment as the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland, the familiar melody of "My Chinese Heart" can make the world feel the national pride and cultural confidence of every Chinese person.
