In the Democratic Progressive Party presidential vote held on January 6, the "former secretary-general of the Executive Yuan" was elected chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party.

According to Taiwan's "China Times Electronic News", Taiwanese leader Tsai Ing-wen resigned as chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party due to her defeat in the "nine-in-one" election. The voting time for the new DPP chairman election is from 8 a.m. on January 6 to 5 p.m. that day.

The voting results were announced at about 6:30. Lin Youchang, acting chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party, announced that Zhuo Rongtai became the chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party with 24,699 votes.

Zhuo Rongtai is a native of Taipei City. He has served as a Taipei City Councilor, Taiwan's "Legislator", "Executive Yuan Spokesperson" and "Executive Yuan Secretary-General" "Other positions.

On December 14 last year, after the Democratic Progressive Party's "nine-in-one" electoral defeat, Zhuo Rongtai was elected as a registered citizen by seven DPP Mesozoic politicians, including Pan Meng'an, Zheng Wencan, Lin Jialong, Lin Zhijian, Huang Weizhe, Chen Qimai, and Weng Zhangliang. He entered the party chairman election and resigned from the position of "Secretary-General of the Executive Yuan" on December 28.

This time the Democratic Progressive Party held a presidential by-election vote, with a total of 34,230 votes and a turnout rate of 16.9%. Zhuo Rongtai received 24,699 votes, accounting for 72.6%. Another candidate is You Yinglong, chairman of the Taiwan Public Opinion Foundation.

During this voting, polling stations were deserted in many places in Taiwan. Some people even asked Chen Ju, secretary-general of Tsai's Office, "Why is it so cold" at the polling station, causing Chen Ju to be embarrassed. Regarding the situation of the chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party, Chen Ju bluntly said that the Democratic Progressive Party is facing its biggest setback in history. "It seems that the people who voted are not very enthusiastic."
