On November 7, 2015, the Taipei Sales Department of China Eastern Airlines held a flight opening ceremony at Taipei Taoyuan Airport to celebrate the official launch of China Eastern Airlines’ scheduled route from Taipei Taoyuan to Huai’an Lianshui.
Huaian is located in the core area north of the Yangtze River in Jiangsu Province and is an important transportation hub for Jiangsu Province and the northern Yangtze River Delta region. Taking advantage of its geographical advantages, in just over ten years, Huaianli has become another new highland where Taiwanese capital gathers. At present, there are nearly 1,200 Taiwan-funded enterprises in Huai'an, and nearly a thousand Taiwanese businessmen are resident in Huai'an. The Taiwan Business Forum has been held for ten consecutive years, and it is one of the important platforms for cross-strait economic, trade and cultural exchanges and cooperation. Direct flights between Huai'an and Taipei can greatly improve the transportation conditions for inspections and exchanges, sightseeing, and visiting relatives and friends between the two places. It can also build a more convenient air channel for Taiwanese businessmen to "enter Huai'an, get to know Huai'an, and invest in Huai'an."

In July this year, Huai'an Airport was included in the regular new destinations for cross-strait passenger transportation, and China Eastern Airlines was approved to become the first mainland airline to fly directly to Huai'an-Taipei route. The Taipei Sales Department of China Eastern Airlines Marketing Committee actively assists the Jiangsu company in coordinating and making full preparations to smoothly cooperate with the company in launching the Taipei-Huai'an route during this flight season change, and strives to increase the number to three flights per week in January next year. As of this season, China Eastern and Shanghai Airlines have operated nearly 100 scheduled cross-strait passenger and cargo flights every week, with destinations covering 20 cities and 22 airports on both sides of the strait. China Eastern Airlines hopes to continue to increase cross-Strait flight routes, build a bridge for cross-Strait economic and trade cooperation, and cultural exchanges, and continue to contribute to the peace and stability of cross-Strait development.
China Eastern Airlines’ flight number MU2911/2 on the Taipei-Huai’an route is operated by an Airbus A320 aircraft and operates once every Saturday. The outbound flight takes off from Huai'an Lianshui Airport at 08:00 and arrives at Taipei Taoyuan Airport at 10:20; the return flight takes off from Taipei Taoyuan Airport at 11:20 and arrives at Huai'an Lianshui Airport at 12:30 (the above times are all local times) .
