Dongguan and Hong Kong have worked together to break through many institutional and mechanism barriers and created a cross-custody sea-air transport project - Hong Kong-Dongguan International Airport Center. "It is equivalent to the 'urban terminal', which 'moves the function of the Hong Kong International Shipping Center forward, and builds a fast overseas channel for high-value-added products such as electronics in Dongguan and surrounding areas, greatly improving the international competitiveness of the high-end manufacturing industry." said Ye Jingchao, the project leader.
This model fully utilizes Dongguan's favorable location advantages in the center of the three major airports of Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. A new international trade channel for sea, land and air widening, allowing Dongguan's foreign trade to "run fast". Municipal Bureau of Commerce shows that the scale of foreign investment utilization in Dongguan is constantly expanding. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Dongguan's exports to the "Belt and Road" countries increased from US$16.73 billion to US$33.53 billion, an increase of 100.4%; exports to ASEAN countries increased from US$9.19 billion to US$16.37 billion, an increase of 78.1%.
What surprised many people was that foreign-invested enterprises that used to do foreign trade exports also actively integrated into the "dual circulation", and many foreign-invested enterprises bosses also started live streaming and selling goods... Data shows that during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the domestic sales of foreign-invested enterprises in Dongguan increased from 335.63 billion yuan to 499.64 billion yuan, an increase of 45.2%.
