In the past seven years in history, the Spring Festival was forbidden, everyone did not take a holiday and was arrested if they wanted to celebrate the holiday.

"Spring Festival" is a very important festival for the Chinese people. This cultural custom has been inherited for thousands of years. With the baptism of the years, it has extraordinary significance. At the same time, it has become synonymous with "Reunion". In 2020, a sudden epidemic prevented many people from returning home for the Spring Festival. "Going home" has become a dream.

As the New Year is approaching and the epidemic is raging again, whether it is possible to go home and reunite with family members as scheduled has become the most concerned topic for every “worker” outside. In fact, attention to the Spring Festival not only occurred in modern times, but also in history that the Spring Festival was forbidden for seven years.

After the outbreak of the Revolution of 1911, it overthrew the feudal rule of the feudal dynasty for thousands of years, and a large number of new ideas emerged. It is a good thing to overthrow the pedantic feudal ethics. However, there are a group of radicals who are too radical in the revolution. They completely deny traditional culture. They advocate abandoning Chinese characters, advocate pinyin, and even ban a traditional festival like the Spring Festival.

It turned out that on January 1, 1912, the National Government wanted to integrate with Western countries. It set January 1 every year as the Spring Festival, abolished the traditional Lunar Spring Festival, and did not allow the people to celebrate the traditional meaning Chinese New Year. However, the common people were used to the traditional Spring Festival, and suddenly changed to January 1st, and they were a little uncomfortable. Until 1914, people began to celebrate the Spring Festival one after another.

Lao She also talked about the "Chinese New Year" in his autobiography. At that time Lao She was the principal of Fangjia Hutong Primary School. On the day of the Spring Festival, the school was closed and Lao She was at home. I have to rush back to school to go to class after lunch. Lao She's mother was very unhappy when she saw this. She asked Lao She why she didn't let people have a good rest during the Spring Festival. She always blamed Lao She for this.

In 1928, with the victory of the Northern Expedition, the Nanjing government issued a decree prohibiting the people from celebrating the traditional Spring Festival. Later, some people still celebrated the traditional Spring Festival in private. In 1930, the Nanjing government increased its management efforts.A notice was issued again, requiring all agencies and individuals not to take a holiday on the day of the Lunar New Year. This will truly abolish the Spring Festival.

According to legend, after the notice was promulgated, during the Spring Festival that year, patrols were patrolling the streets back and forth. Anyone who was found to celebrate the Spring Festival had to be arrested, and even friends and relatives in the neighborhood would talk to each other. "Gong Xi Fa Cai" will be taken to the statue of Dr. Sun Yat-sen to admit his mistake.

In 1933, under the pressure of public opinion, the Nanjing government lifted this ban and people began to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The abolition of the Spring Festival started in 1912 and did not end until 1933. It was implemented intermittently for seven years, which can be said to be unprecedented. This enlightens us that the implementation of every policy must be based on the people, and listen more to the voice of the grassroots. If the people do not buy it, everything will be in vain.

Due to the epidemic, let us remember the Spring Festival last year and this year still fresh. The Spring Festival is approaching, I wish every wanderer who is out of town will be healthy and reunited with his family as soon as possible. Friends in high-risk areas of the epidemic, do not panic, take care of their own prevention and control, and reunite with their families again in the coming spring. See you again.
