On the day of the Spring Festival, the school was closed and Lao She was at home. I have to rush back to school to go to class after lunch. Lao She's mother was very unhappy when she saw this. She asked Lao She why she didn't let people have a good rest during the Spring Festival. She always blamed Lao She for this.
In 1928, with the victory of the Northern Expedition, the Nanjing government issued a decree prohibiting the people from celebrating the traditional Spring Festival. Later, some people still celebrated the traditional Spring Festival in private. In 1930, the Nanjing government increased its management efforts.A notice was issued again, requiring all agencies and individuals not to take a holiday on the day of the Lunar New Year. This will truly abolish the Spring Festival.
According to legend, after the notice was promulgated, during the Spring Festival that year, patrols were patrolling the streets back and forth. Anyone who was found to celebrate the Spring Festival had to be arrested, and even friends and relatives in the neighborhood would talk to each other. "Gong Xi Fa Cai" will be taken to the statue of Dr. Sun Yat-sen to admit his mistake.
In 1933, under the pressure of public opinion, the Nanjing government lifted this ban and people began to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The abolition of the Spring Festival started in 1912 and did not end until 1933. It was implemented intermittently for seven years, which can be said to be unprecedented. This enlightens us that the implementation of every policy must be based on the people, and listen more to the voice of the grassroots. If the people do not buy it, everything will be in vain.
