In the second year of Yuanyou (1087), the situation in the court formed three major parties: Luo Party (Henan People), Shuo Party (Hebei People), and Shu Party ( Sichuan People ).
Luo Party and Shuo Party united to use various political means to crack down on the Shu Party headed by the Su Shi brothers. A serious "Yuanyou Party Controversy" broke out.
Su Shi, who has experienced Wutai Poetry Case , does not want to be involved in this endless party struggle, nor does he want to involve his family and friends. He repeatedly wrote letters to ask for a job in the local area. In March of the fourth year of 1089 (1089), he was finally allowed to be a bachelor's degree in Longtuge (six prefectures and counties in Zhejiang West Road) and also the governor of Hangzhou.
It has been eighteen years since the last time I was entrusted to Hangzhou. When he came to Hangzhou again, Su Shi seemed to be a different generation.
West Lake and Qiantang River water, which often dreams, are back in front of you. The beautiful scenery of Jiangnan once again soothes Su Shi's tired body and mind. After taking office, a sudden outbreak occurred in Hangzhou. Su Shi quickly organized doctors and monks who knew medicine to go to the streets to treat the people. And a large amount of medicine called "Sheng Sanzi" was made and distributed to the public for free. This medicine was a secret recipe he learned when he was in Huangzhou, and it was very effective in treating plague.
Due to the timely response and the significant efficacy of "Shengsanzi", the epidemic was quickly controlled and the people of Hangzhou survived.
The second year, Su Shi found that West Lake was seriously silted, "the water surface was decreasing day by day, and the water plant was growing day by day." West Lake is not only a landscape, but also a source of water for residents to use water and farmland irrigate.
Su Shi was deeply afraid that "there will be no West Lake for twenty years", and was determined to comprehensively govern West Lake.
He convened dozens of water conservancy experts to study governance plans. Finally, a method of best of both worlds was adopted: using the water and grass removed from the lake and blocked silt to build a long dike in the lake to connect the north and south.
Half a year later, the lake surface is clear and open, and a long dike across the north and south stands in the lake. Su Shi also ordered the planting of willows, hibiscus on both sides of the strait and the construction of pavilions.
West Lake not only continues to nourish the people of Hangzhou, but also has a elegant scenery with the long dike pavilions and pavilions. From then on, there were endless crowds of people coming and going, and there were crowds of tourists.
In order to thank Su Shi, people called this long dike " Sugong Dike ", which was abbreviated as " Sudi " in later generations.
After a thousand years, "Sudi Chunxiao " is still the scenic spot of West Lake that people linger in today.
"Two years to read the three states"
Before his term of office in Hangzhou was over, Su Shi suddenly received an imperial edict to return the capital and had to bid farewell to Hangzhou again.
At that time, my younger brother Su Che had returned to Beijing to serve as the Right Chief of the Shangshu. Su Shi was afraid that he would be jealous again, so he wrote a letter to ask for continued employment, but he did not receive any answer.
After returning to Beijing to serve as a bachelor's degree in Hanlin, the political enemy began to capture Su Shi's poems and essays and tried to impeach.
Su Shi was tired of this unnecessary struggle. After distinguishing the truth, he earnestly wrote a letter to another post and was finally allowed to serve as the governor of Yingzhou (now Fuyang, Anhui). Just half a year after he took office in Yingzhou, the court ordered him to be renamed Yangzhou.
In just two years from the sixth year of Yuanyou to the seventh year of Yuanyou (1091-1092), Su Shi went from Hangzhou to Yingzhou and rushed to Yangzhou.
"Two years of reading the three states", behind this is the pulling contest of political forces, and there is always undercurrent in the turbulent situation.
Su Shi was a little helpless, but he always maintained a heart that was loyal to the emperor and the people.
Return to Beijing Fengbo
In August of the seventh year of Yuanyou (1092), the court issued an edict to recall Su Shi.
At this time, Song Zhezong was already eighteen years old. After holding the suburban worship ceremony, Su Shi was appointed as the Hanlin attendant bachelor's degree, the Minister of Rites, and the Duanmingdian bachelor's degree.
Su Shi, who was in a high position again, gradually felt unable to do so. The next year he was allowed to leave the capital to Dingzhou. In September of the eighth year of Yuanyou (1093), the situation changed again. Empress Dowager Gao, who had always supported Su Shi's brothers, died of illness and Song Zhezong took power.
This young emperor had long been dissatisfied with his grandmother's jurisdiction. After taking power, he changed his lunar name to "Shaosheng" and used his father's reformers during the rebellion period of Emperor Shenzong to Chapter Dun , An Tao, etc.
Due to years of unsuccessful success, these ministers who returned to the center of power began to retaliate against the officials who were reused during the Yuanyou period to vent their anger.
In just a few dozen days, more than a dozen officials have been demoted one after another.
The news came, and Su Shi, who was in Dingzhou, had a deeper helplessness about the current situation and had the idea of retreating and returning home.
"There is a crane in the garden that can be called, and I am standing in the corner... I suddenly cried out and then went down, it was difficult to advance and retreat, and I was not as good as I was." ("Crane Sigh")
It was just that, but I couldn't help but Su Shi's wish to retire was finally difficult to realize.
