However, no one can deny Li Dazhao's outstanding contribution to the Communist Party of China. Even Chairman Mao personally admitted that it was Li Dazhao who influenced him and led him to develop rapidly in the direction of Marxism .

Unexpectedly caused waves
On February 2, 1949, Peiping ushered in the third day of peaceful liberation. The city was filled with joy. Peiping citizens were celebrating with gongs and drums while preparing to welcome the People's Liberation Army into the city.
At the same time, the administrative department of Peiping was also undergoing a handover ceremony. In the Gongdelin Prison outside the gate of Desheng, a huge gallows attracted the attention of Beiping City Public Security Director Tan Zhengwen.
Tan Zhengwen's task at this time was very arduous. In addition to maintaining public security in Peiping and clearing out the remaining Kuomintang agents, he also had to deal with many historical issues left over.
He asked the old police officers who stayed at Gongdelin : "Who have you executed with this thing? " After seeing the gallows, Tan Zhengwen wanted to first find out which prisoners had been imprisoned in Gongdelin.
The old police officer muttered in a daze: "It seems that there is no one else except Li Dazhao." This sentence made Tan Zhengwen's eyes widen, and he immediately asked sharply: "Who are you talking about? Say it again? Repeat the three words just now. "Repeat?"
In fact, Tan Zhengwen had already understood. It was not that he had not heard clearly, but that he was in disbelief. After realizing that the matter was of great importance, he immediately reported it to Peng Zhen, who was then the Secretary of the Peking Municipal Party Committee.
"Start the investigation immediately. It's time to deal with the aftermath. Find all the murderers of Li Dazhao. We must catch them."

Peng Zhen immediately assigned Tan Zhengwen a task, but this matter gave Tan Zhengwen a headache. After so many years, is it easy to find another one? He didn't even know how Li Dazhao was killed.
There was no other way. Tan Zhengwen had to use the simplest and most difficult method, which was to find a needle in a haystack. He publicly wanted the murderer of Li Dazhao in Peiping City, hoping to get clues with the help of the power of the people.
More than two years passed in a flash. On June 10, 1951, a "report letter" was mailed to the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau. After reading the letter, Tan Zhengwen was ecstatic and quickly led his team towards the northwest corner of Beijing city.
The content of the letter was exactly the clues he had been waiting for about the murderer of Li Dazhao. The sender was an old Beijinger who was born and raised in Beijing. By chance, he broke through the disguise of the murderer lurking in Beijing.
"A few years ago, Zen Master Ling Ming, who appeared in a temple in the northwest corner of Beijing, was actually a traitor, a great spy, and a traitor who killed Li Dazhao..."
Tan Zhengwen only saw this, and he was convinced that Zen Master Ling Ming was the murderer of Li Dazhao, and he quickly led several groups of people to the temple, for fear of being too late.
However, the building was empty. When Tan Zhengwen rushed to the temple, he was told by the abbot that Zen Master Ming had already left the temple and was missing. Even with other information about Zen Master Ming, the abbot of the temple did not know anything about it.
Six years ago, in 1945, an old man ran to the temple in disgrace and asked the abbot to take him in. The abbot saw that he had a torn robe and a long beard, so he stayed in the temple very pitifully.
But when the host asked the old man where he was from and where his home was, the old man hesitated and hesitated. After being pressed for a long time, he told him that he was from the east, that all his relatives at home had passed away, and he did not want to talk about anything else.
"That's all, I see that you are a confused person. I think you came here to seek the truth for some confused things, so I will give you the Dharma name "King Ming". I hope you will wake up soon and understand your true heart."
After that, the old man ate and chanted Buddha in the monastery every day and rarely communicated with others. As for when he left and where he went, no one in the temple knew.
Tracking down the unknown murderer
After listening to the host's description, Tan Zhengwen became more convinced of the identity of Zen Master Ming. He hurried back and sent an investigation team to try to find out the whereabouts of Zen Master Ming. At the same time, based on the memories of the temple abbot, he listed the physical characteristics of Zen Master Ming.
Monk's robe, hair, beard, these things that are easy to change, Tan Zhengwen only carefully noted down, it is really difficult to arrest Zen Master Ming based on these.
As for the two clues of gold teeth and gold watch, Tan Zhengwen was overjoyed. People with gold teeth and gold watches are so easy to find. Sure enough, a year later in Shanghai, someone reported that an old warlock with gold teeth was hidden in a residential house.
The age was very similar to that of the wanted Zen Master Liao Ming. The Shanghai Public Security Bureau immediately dispatched two people to pretend to seek divination, and then used the excuse of checking the time to see the gold watch in the arms of the old warlock.
The gold watch was engraved with the name of the former Qing Dynasty emperor. After confirming it, more than 20 public security officers waiting outside swarmed him and arrested him in one fell swoop.
The graduation certificate of the Japanese Military Police Station, the graduate license of the Xuantong Army Police Course, and the appointment certificate of the Japanese and puppet county magistrates. One piece after another, the old warlock confessed and admitted his crime.

Zen Master Liao Ming, whose real name is Lei Hengcheng, was a scholar during the Xuantong period. He practiced martial arts as a boy, so he was later sent to Japan by the Qing Dynasty to study. After completing his studies, he came back to serve in the newly established Capital Police Department.

In 1912, after Yuan Shikai forced Puyi to abdicate, in order to promote the fruits of victory of the Xinhai Revolution and realize his ambition to become emperor, he committed heinous crimes in Beijing and killed tens of thousands of people.

The Peiping reactionary military and police who acted as Zhang Zuolin's thugs broke into Li Dazhao's home in Beijing. Fortunately, Li Dazhao had already received the news in advance.
At the end of March, Li Dazhao had already moved into the Soviet Embassy in Dongjiaomin Lane, Peking, in advance to continue working. The reactionary military and police rushed to nothing, destroyed Li Dazhao's home and left.
However, news of Li Dazhao's stay in the Soviet Embassy was quickly discovered. In September 1926, Li Bohai, an underground member of the Communist Party of China, was arrested by the reactionary military police while handing out leaflets on the street.
Under severe torture, Li Bohai rebelled and surrendered to the enemy. Unfortunately, Li Bohai happened to know the news that Li Dazhao was hiding in the Soviet Embassy.
In this way, the reactionary military and police quickly reported to Zhang Zuolin after learning the whereabouts of Li Dazhao. Zhang Zuolin issued a secret order to secretly capture Li Dazhao. The person responsible for this task was the Detective Team of the Capital Police Department.
Lei Hengcheng later confessed: There were more than 500 military and police teams dispatched at that time. He led 3 or 4 teams to surround the Soviet Embassy.
But the Soviet embassy was not so easy to enter. Lei Hengcheng led a team to wait outside. He had to get permission from other embassies before he could go in and arrest people.
Logically speaking, it was very safe for Li Dazhao to stay in the Soviet Embassy, but he did not expect that other Western countries would jointly target him and unexpectedly allow Lei Hengcheng and others to break into the embassy area .
Li Dazhao had no idea what was going on outside at that time. While he was immersed in his work, Lei Hengcheng rushed in and arrested him, taking Li Dazhao's wife and children away with him.
In addition, there were more than 30 other Communist Party members who were hiding in the Soviet Embassy at that time. After the reactionary military police took them away, they were imprisoned in a secret prison.
Electric chair , Tiger bench , Burning , fingernail pulling, various punishments were used on Li Dazhao, but Li Dazhao did not give in. He also wrote a great oath in prison:
"Zhao has been reading since he was a child. The purpose of writing is to work hard for the cause of national liberation. To this end, I will remain committed to doing what I do and what I know. A man born in this world must maintain his integrity even if his head is cut off and blood is shed!"
Lei Hengcheng exhausted all options and finally had no choice but to report Zhang Zuolin. Zhang Zuolin was also in a dilemma at the moment. He did not want to let Li Dazhao go because Li Dazhao was a Communist Party member and was always against him.
And Chiang Kai-shek also secretly called him, asking him to execute Li Dazhao to avoid future troubles. However, at the same time, Zhang Zuolin did not want to estrange from the Communist Party, and public opinion in society also opposed him to execute Li Dazhao.
In a dilemma, Zhang Zuolin thought of a way. He sent Li Dazhao to the court and let the court decide, so that he could prove his innocence: Look, I, Zhang Zuolin, did not kill Li Dazhao.
But Zhang Zuolin made a mistake. He sent Li Dazhao to the military court. At the beginning of the founding of the Communist Party of China, Li Dazhao did not hold any position in the party. When he was arrested, he was a teacher at Peking University.
Why was a teacher sent to a military court? Zhang Zuolin's reason was far-fetched. He even used the excuse that Li Dazhao conspired to collude with foreigners in order to initiate civil strife and betray China's sovereignty.
On the execution ground, Li Dazhao died generously. Lei Hengcheng swallowed all the belongings left by Li Dazhao, and even kept the Browning pistol that Li Dazhao carried with him for his own use.
Zhang Zuolin was soon assassinated by the Japanese Kwantung Army and bombed to death. At this time, Peking was no longer peaceful. Lei Hengcheng followed Zhang Zuolin's son Zhang Xueliang to the Northeast and continued to serve as a military policeman in the Northeast.
After the "September 18th Incident", Zhang Xueliang led his troops to retreat from the Northeast. When Lei Hengcheng saw that the Japanese army was relatively powerful, he immediately defected to the Japanese and worked as an official and a semi-official under the Japanese and puppet regime, which was very comfortable.
From then on, he followed wherever the Japanese invaded. He also followed the orders of the Japanese invaders, massacring his own compatriots and suppressing local anti-Japanese activities.
With so much blood debt, how could he not know his crimes? After Japan surrendered , he felt deeply about his sins and began to dream of hiding his name and escaping trial.
first fled to a temple in Peiping, thinking of living in seclusion in the temple, but after not staying long, he couldn't help but live a quiet life in the temple, and always sneaked out to enjoy the fireworks in the world.
It was precisely in this way that he exposed his identity. In a market in Peiping, he walked around the streets as Zen Master Liao Ming, saying that he was alms to spread Buddhism, but in fact he was eating and drinking to satisfy his appetite.
Such a scene was noticed by the vendor Zhao. Such a strange Zen master made him pay attention. He saw the gold teeth leaking out when Lei Hengcheng was eating and drinking, and he saw the gold watch Lei Hengcheng took out to read the time when he hurriedly returned to the temple.
How can there be a Zen master who loves eating, drinking and money? Zhao always remembered this incident. After the founding of New China, when the Peking City Public Security Bureau found Zen Master Ming, he reported the matter as soon as possible.
The "reporting letter" was written by him. Lei Hengcheng ran away from the temple backyard over the wall in a hurry that day. He disguised himself all the way to Shanghai and hid under the pseudonym Zhao Zhicheng again.
After he was exposed and arrested in Shanghai, he knew in his heart that he would not escape death. After confessing all his crimes, he made a request to the Shanghai police:
"Don't hit me on the head. I have done all bad things in my life, but I have calculated my fate and I will still have a chance to be honored in my next life." "Huafugui, so please leave me a complete body."
Such an extremely absurd request makes the police think it is extremely ridiculous. People who have done all bad things in their lives without even repenting at all still hope for glory and wealth in the next life.
On April 26, 1953, on the execution ground, a righteous bullet passed through his chest. Lei Heng paid the due price for the crime of killing Li Dazhao and killing many compatriots.
But in the end, his request was responded to. The police saw that he was really pitiful, so they let his head be avoided during the execution, just hoping that he could use this head to understand his heart in the next life.
