His name is Jixingpo and comes from Longhua County. This time, he represents not individuals, but ordinary people in the county. He hopes to meet the central leaders or even Chairman Mao, and asks the chairman to write an inscription for their hero Dong Cunrui.

The county government immediately started to make arrangements, and Ji Xingpo, who is working in the Civil Affairs Department, is responsible for the construction of the cemetery. During that time, the threshold of the county government was almost broken. Many people come here every day just to express one wish: asked Chairman Mao to write an inscription.
8 years have passed since Dong Cunrui's sacrifice, and the locals have not forgotten his contribution to the liberation of Longhua . There have been countless people who have been exiled heroically for the country and the people, but there are only a handful of people who can let Chairman Mao write an inscription on him personally.

On May 24, 1948, Tuyaozigou, less than 5 kilometers away from Longhua County, the 6th Company of the 96th Regiment of the 32nd Division of the 11th Column of the Northeast People's Liberation Army was holding a oath-taking meeting, with the purpose of selecting members of the fire support group, blasting group, bomb drop group, and ammunition support group for the Kuomintang troops who will attack Longhua County tomorrow.
Longhua County is located in southern Inner Mongolia and northern Hebei, and is bounded between Chengde and Chifeng . Its geographical location is of extraordinary value.
If we can occupy this place, our army will be able to divide and encircle and annihilate the Kuomintang troops in Chengde and Chifeng, open the channel to the northeast, and prepare for the "Liaoshen War". To this end, more than 20,000 people from the 11th Column marched rapidly on May 16, 1948 and rushed to Longhua County.
But this place is not easy to conquer, and there are several main reasons.
First, Longhua's terrain is easy to defend but difficult to attack.
Second, after the Kuomintang army stationed in Longhua County in 1946, it knew its strategic value, so it built solid fortifications and equipped with strong firepower.
There are 28 bunker groups around the county town, and there are also many hidden ditches that are connected together, with gun holes everywhere, and can attack nearby troops at any time. The
11 column has just been formed less than 3 months ago, and it is composed of local troops and guerrillas, and has not had much combat experience. In addition, fighting Longhua County requires a tough battle, not a mobile war they are good at.
Therefore, Shi Shi, the commander-in-chief of the 13th Kuomintang Army stationed in Chengde, felt that Zhilonghua was not panicked at all after being surrounded by the 11th Column. After all, the People's Liberation Army's heavy firepower was limited. "How can Xiaomi and rifles hurt the impure city at all?" He even shouted: "The Communist army can conquer Longhua, I will give them Chengde Bai!"

What he did not expect was that the strong lair of the Kuomintang troops in Longhua Middle School would be destroyed because of a young soldier who was not tall, black and solid.
This warrior is nothing else, it is Dong Cunrui. When 6 selected members of the blasting team, he took the initiative to sign up for the first time.
Although Dong Cunrui is not very old, he is a famous blaster in his army and has won the title of "Model blaster".
When he first practiced blasting, he threw explosives inaccurately. He always practiced harder than other warriors. Someone else has rested, but he is still practicing.
In order to improve accuracy, Dong Cunrui, who is good at thinking, thought about a solution to build fortifications such as soil and stone in the yard to simulate the terrain, and lead the soldiers to study how to blast quickly and accurately. For the sake of the party and the people, he can sacrifice everything, including his own life. Therefore, knowing that this mission was important and dangerous, he stood up without hesitation and was appointed as the leader of the blasting team.
With Dong Cunrui taking the lead, many soldiers also joined in to clear obstacles for the troops to launch a general attack. A big battle is about to begin.
Sacrifice heroically in the early morning of 25th, our army launched an attack on another important enemy stronghold, Taishan, and quickly took the place. The next goal is to attack the enemy's nest and eliminate the remaining enemies.
According to the plan, Dong Cunrui and his soldiers braved the enemy's dense artillery fire to blow up several bunkers and artillery towers one after another, successfully blowing up the enemy bunkers in the northeast.
At 3:30 pm, 6 connected to the superior's order and launched a charge against Longhua Middle School from the northeast direction. Everyone thought the charge would be very smooth, after all, the enemy's firepower point had been blown up.
What they did not expect was that the enemy's dense bullets flew towards them, and many soldiers fell down. In order to reduce casualties, the soldiers could only hide under the earth slope.
If the Sixth Company wants to attack Longhua Middle School, it must pass through a dry river. On the river, a bridge connects the two sides. The enemy used the bridge's location to build a castle on the bridge and equipped 6 heavy machine guns to shoot our army.
This hamlet must be blown up, otherwise it will be difficult for the 6th company to rush over. The company commander sent a blaster to blow it up. All soldiers, including Dong Cunrui, used artillery fire to cover their comrades' actions while closely following his movements.
Dong Cunrui saw that his comrades had just rushed out not long after they were unfortunately hit by the enemy's bullet and never got up again. The company commander sent a second and third blaster to perform this mission, and the result was the same.
Three comrades died, and there was not much time left for the 6th Company. Because the large army was about to launch a general attack at 4:30, Dong Cunrui was both heartbroken and anxious.
So, he made a choice in his heart and shouted to the company commander: "Company Commander! Let me blow it up!" He once again left the most dangerous task for himself.
Immediately afterwards, he saw that the squad leader of the 7th squad, Zhi Shunyi, also applied to the company commander to bomb the castle on the bridge.

Since the two are the backbone of the company, the company commander is very reluctant to let them perform such a dangerous task. But the number of casualties is still increasing, and the company commander has to bear the pain of giving up and agree to their request.
Dong Cunrui immediately held a 15-kilogram explosive pack and shouted: "Lao Zhi, come with me!" The two acted quickly and divided the work and cooperated. He was responsible for blowing up the bridge, and Zhi Shunyi was responsible for using grenades to cover his actions.
After the enemy discovered them, they shot at the two of them like crazy. Bullets passed by their ears, and the dust on the ground was smoked, and their vision was very bad. Even so, Dong Cunrui and Zhi Shunyi did not retreat a little and rushed forward bravely.
After coming to a small mound of soil, he asked Zhi Shunyi to stay here to cover his cover, and he tried to find a way to go to Hanhe. When Zhi Shunyi blows up the barbed wire and the deer fort, he rushes to the open ground.
Dong Cunrui is very smart and does not rush around without shelter. He first lies on the ground and waits for the enemy's firepower to weaken slightly, and then seizes the opportunity to leap forward.

Dong Cunrui did not give up, there was only one thought in his mind - he must complete the task and blow up the castle! He endured the pain, dragged his legs on his hands and continued to move forward, and finally jumped into the drought ditch and rushed under the bridge.
Although he reached his destination, another difficult problem arose: has no tripod, how can I put the explosives at the bottom of the bridge?
The bridge is more than one person tall on the ground. If the explosive pack is placed on the ground, it will not be able to blow up the bunker at all with its power.
. Both sides of the Han River are made of bricks and stones. Dong Cunrui tried it several times and found that the explosive packs would fall down if they could not be placed firmly. What's even more terrible is that he looked around and did not see the branches, which meant that he could not make tripods from local materials.
In theory, the blasting hand must carry a tripod made of branches with you. The 6th Company originally had enough tripods, but some bunkers cannot be handled by just one explosive pack, which causes it to consume very quickly.

At the critical moment, Dong Cunrui stood at the bottom of the bridge with a decisive look on his face, raised the explosive pack with his left hand, and prepared to use his body as a tripod, pulling the lead with his right hand, and shouting heart-wrenchingly: "Company Commander! Go!"

Unfortunately, because the explosion of the explosive pack was too powerful, they couldn't find anything related to him.
Recalling all the things that happened to Martyr Dong Cunrui during his lifetime, they couldn't help but shed tears, and some soldiers even started to sob in a low voice.
The local people are also as sad as the soldiers. They thanked Dong Cunrui for everything he did to liberate Longhua County, so they urgently hope that Chairman Mao would write an inscription for him. Unexpectedly, Ji Xingpo "failed" their expectations.

Ji Xingpo met with the director of the Youjiao Department. The latter took out the lyrics written by the central leader for Martyr Dong Cunrui, and saw several vigorous and powerful words written on it, "Sacrifice your own life for the country and live forever."
He had no time to be happy, so he was stunned by the signature of the inscription. The signature reads "Zhu De, May 29, 1957". means that the lyrics were written by President Zhu, not by Chairman Mao.
"Didn't you ask Chairman Mao to write an inscription? Why did it become President Zhu's inscription? Is the Chairman unwilling to write an inscription for the martyrs? But he wrote an inscription for Liu Hulan twice. What is the reason for the Chairman to do this?"
Ji Xingpo was very puzzled and asked the director why Chairman Mao did not write an inscription. The director replied that it was not that the Chairman was unwilling to write an inscription, but that considering the identity of Martyr Dong Cunrui, he specially asked Mr. Zhu to write an inscription for him.
In Chairman Mao’s view, Liu Hulan and Dong Cunrui have different identities, one is a masses and the other is a soldier. He himself has never held a military post, so it is more appropriate to ask Comrade Zhu De, Commander-in-Chief of the People's Liberation Army of China to write an inscription for Dong Cunrui.
Chairman Mao’s move not only reflects the central government’s attention to the martyrs, but also reflects his respect for President Zhu. From the 1930s to the 1970s, the word "Zhu Mao" resounded at home and abroad, and it refers to Chairman Mao and President Zhu.

After learning about Chairman Mao’s good intentions, Ji Xingpo was very moved and happy and returned to the county with the lyrics written by President Zhu. After the local people knew the reason why Chairman Mao refused, they were also very moved and could understand his approach.
On October 18, 1957, the 14.5-meter-high Martyr Dong Cunrui Monument was completed, and Mr. Zhu's inscription was inlaid on the front of the stele and stood forever at the foot of the mossy mountain together with the monument.
Although martyr Dong Cunrui has been sacrificed for many years, his spirit will always be learned and passed down by people!
