In 2008, archaeological experts came to Zhejiang's "Emperor's Tomb" uncovered a scam that has been passed down for many years. According to legend, this "Emperor's Tomb" has always been guarded by people in the village, but many people still don't know which emperor the tomb they are guarding, because there is no information on the tomb. So what did archaeologists find in this tomb? Why is it a scam?
Today, Durian will share with you the story of this tomb.
This "Emperor's Tomb" is located in Nanshantou Village, Cangnan County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province. From the outside, this ancient tomb is on the hillside. The diameter of the cemetery is more than ten meters and the height is about 400 meters. The main tomb faces the south, and there is a four-meter-high wall made of bluestone around it. When you walk in, you will find that each bluestone brick that forms the fence is built in a regular manner, looking simple and atmospheric. Although it looks a bit dilapidated now, if you look closely, you can still vaguely see the majesty of the ancient wall at the time, which is quite like an "emperor's tomb". .
But when asked if the villagers knew who the owner of the tomb was, everyone shook their heads and said they didn’t know. This has attracted great interest from archaeologists.
Later, after investigation by archaeologists, the identity of the owner of this ancient tomb was finally determined in 2008. He was the last king of the Wu Yue Kingdom, , King Zhongyi, , Qian Chu, .
Who is King Zhongyi Qian Chu?
Qian Hongchu is from Lin'an, Zhejiang. He was born in a prominent family - Wu Yue Qian family . His ancestors were the founding emperor of Wu Yue, who was known as " Sea Dragon King ".
Qian Hongchu's father is Wenmu King of Wu Yue . He ranks ninth in his family, and there is an older brother named Qian Neng . When he was a teenager, he had already held many official positions.
QianNe
After his brother QianNe was launched by his generals in a coup, Qian Chu ascended the throne with the strong support of his ministers and became the monarch of Wu Yue.
And the minister who helped Qian Chu become the emperor of Wu Yue was Hu Jinsi . This person was also directly related to Qian Chu's death later.
Hu Jinsi helped Qian Chu to be the emperor but he was not very tempted. He originally thought that after he helped Qian Chu to the throne, he would "use the emperor to order the princes" to let Qian Chu be a puppet emperor, but he did not expect Qian Chu was not simple at all. Since Qian Chu became the king, Hu Jinsi's power was gradually weakened and he had no good ending in the end. Qian Chu no longer had to be a puppet emperor. He worked hard to govern and ordered all taxes to be exempted from all taxes over the years. Those who were abandoned in the territory "will the people farm it, and the public did not increase their taxes", and the people were very happy. The fields near Songjiang were also developed and distributed to the people to cultivate, so as to achieve a social environment of "no abandoned fields in the territory", a bumper grain, and a ten-ciete rice.
Qian Chu
However, Wu Yue Kingdom has always been a small country. If other countries want to attack, they will have no power to resist.
The country that existed in the same period as Wu Yue Kingdom was the Song Kingdom. After Song Taizu unified the Central Plains, he wanted to continue to expand his territory. His goal was to Southern Tang . Li Yu asked Qian Chu for help, but Qian Chu refused, but instead helped Song Taizu attack the Southern Tang together, and the Southern Tang was eventually extinct.
However, Qian Chu could not escape unscathed. He was placed under house arrest by Song Taizu in Bian Liang. On his 60th birthday, he had a banquet with the birthday envoys of the Song Dynasty court until nightfall, and died soon after. " Song History " records that Qian Chu was buried in Beimang Mountain, Luoyang after his sudden death.
, and archaeologists read a large number of books and found that the "Pingyang County Chronicles" of the Republic of China period also clearly records Qian Chu's tomb:
"The tomb of King Qian is in Songshan, Guiren Township, and it is said to be the tomb of King Qian."
According to this record, archaeological experts also made a bold assumption. Perhaps when Qian Chu visited Songshan area in Zhejiang during his lifetime, he had already chosen Songshan area as the location of his imperial tomb .And a tomb was quietly established in this place, but later because of Song Taizu's orders, Qian Chu's descendants did not dare to violate Song Taizu's orders, and did not want to violate Qian Chu's last wishes, so they secretly arranged a coffin with Qian Chu's clothes and transported it to Luoyang for burial according to the orders of the court. But in the dark, they quietly put Qian Chu's body in another coffin. Then he quietly buried Qian Chu in the tomb built during his lifetime. These inferences from experts from
can explain why there are two tombs of Qian Chu. At the same time, there is also a lot of evidence of ancient buildings such as temples, pagodas and bridge pier Efeng Academy built for Qian Chu. This can also explain why the people in the village don’t know which ancient emperor is buried in the tomb they are guarding. If everyone knows that Qian Chu is the one who is buried in this ancient tomb, it is a crime of deceiving the king. At that time, they would have been beheaded by Song Taizu, so the fewer people know, the better.
Although there is still controversy in the owner of this tomb now, the discovery of each tomb can allow archaeologists to uncover the story of a dynasty, which is of great significance to us to understand the history of the country.
