On September 11949, Zhu Zhongli, who was preparing to go back to her hometown in Changsha to visit her relatives, was packing her luggage in the house. At this time, Ye Zilong suddenly walked in and asked softly, "I heard you are going home to visit relatives soon?"
Zhu Zhongli answered while packing up her things, "Yes!"
"Chairman Mao wants you to visit Yang Kaihui's mother, Old Lady Yang, on his behalf, can you?"
"Of course, I can do anything I need to do, I will definitely do it." Zhu Zhongli agreed readily.
"I just ask you to bring a letter and buy some more things to bring to Old Lady Yang in person." Ye Zilong said whispered.
"Tell the Chairman, I am happy to be this special envoy and ensure that everything is foolproof." Zhu Zhongli agreed happily.
"That's great!" Ye Zilong left happily.
A few days later, Ye Zilong found Zhu Zhongli again, handed her a small bag and a letter, and instructed: "The letter was written by the Chairman himself, and it must be handed over to Old Lady Yang. There was a leather jacket and two hundred yuan in the bag. This money was the royalties saved by the Chairman in the past. Please buy some gifts for Old Lady Yang's family."
Zhu Zhongli was a little embarrassed, not because she brought the goods, but because she didn't know what gifts to buy, so she said to Ye Zilong: "I don't know what to buy?"
"The Chairman said he would give it to you, but didn't say he would buy any gifts." Ye Zilong made a gesture to Zhu Zhongli as he said. The smart Zhu Zhongli immediately understood. Chairman Mao asked her to bring letters and things to Old Lady Yang, but did not discuss it with Jiang Qing, for fear of causing trouble.
Chairman Mao asked Zhu Zhongli to be the special envoy to visit Mrs. Yang on his behalf, which was indeed the most suitable candidate.
Zhu Zhongli is the youngest daughter of a famous modern Chinese educator, patriot and revolutionary Mr. Zhu Jianfan. She is ranked eighth at home and is nicknamed "Eight Sisters".
Zhu Jianfan went to Japan to study with Yang Kaihui's father Yang Changji in his early years. After returning to China after studying, Zhu Jianfan used all his savings to establish a modern girls' school, - Zhou's private school, which was later renamed Zhounan Girls' School.
Yang Kaihui and sister-in-law Li Chongde are both students of Zhou Nan Girls' School and studied under Zhu Jianfan. The Zhu and Yang families are close friends and have deep friendships.
Zhu Jianfan actively participated in the revolutionary cause, and from the May Fourth Movement to the Great Revolution, he engaged in the revolution with Mao Zedong, Cai Hesen, He Shuheng, Xu Teli and others.
920, at the invitation of Zhu Jianfan, Mao Zedong sent to Zhounan Girls' School. Zhu Jianfan admired Mao Zedong very much, and the two became friends with age. Zhu Zhongli was only five years old at that time and affectionately called Mao Zedong "Uncle Mao". After the failure of the Great Revolution, Zhu Jianfan was arrested by the Kuomintang authorities and moved his family to Shanghai to continue to engage in underground liaison work. He died of illness in 1931.
Zhu Zhongli has been educated in revolution since she was a child, and her heart is full of enthusiasm and yearning for revolution. In 1932, she was admitted to Shanghai Tongde Medical College with excellent results; later she was arrested and imprisoned for covering up her relatives to do underground work in the party, and was released from prison. After being released from prison, Zhu Zhongli was transferred to Shanghai Southeast Medical College . She graduated in 1936 and obtained a master's degree in medicine in . After graduation, Zhu Zhongli worked at Nanjing Central Hospital for a period of time.
Witnessing the corruption and incompetence of the Kuomintang and the crazy invasion of the Japanese invaders, Zhu Zhongli had the idea of going to Yan'an. At the end of 1937, under the arrangement of the Eighth Route Army Office in Changsha, Zhu Zhongli came to Yan'an, a revolutionary holy land.
A morning a few days later, Zhu Zhongli met Uncle Mao who had been away for a long time. Uncle Mao, who was energetic back then, is now the supreme leader of the Communist Party of China.
The moment I saw Chairman Mao, it was like seeing his relatives. Zhu Zhongli was extremely excited and forgot all the things he had thought about on the road. A Changsha dialect couldn't help but blurt out:
"Uncle Mao, you are forgetful!"
Looking at Zhu Zhongli's clumsy and embarrassing look, Chairman Mao couldn't help laughing, "Time is so fast! You have grown up. When I saw you in Changsha, you just learned to say a few words and take a few steps. Today I learned to salute me!"
Zhu Zhongli was organized to work at the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region Hospital.
Due to work reasons, and Zhu Zhongli is the youngest daughter of her old friend Zhu Jianfan, Chairman Mao takes great care of her work and life and often teaches her revolutionary principles.
938, under the support of Chairman Mao, Zhu Zhongli and Wang Jiaxiang became revolutionary partners.
Chairman Mao and Mr. Zhu Jianfan are both teachers and friends, and so are Zhu Zhongli and Chairman Mao. From Yan'an to Beijing, from the War of Resistance Against Japan to the War of Liberation, and then to , after the founding of New China, Chairman Mao always gave Zhu Zhongli the same care as his elders.
The relationship between Zhu and Yang families, coupled with the friendship between Chairman Mao and Zhu Zhongli, is indeed the most appropriate for Zhu Zhongli to be the special envoy.
The day after returning to Changsha, Zhu Zhongli came to Old Lady Yang's house with Chairman Mao's instructions.
After greetings, Zhu Zhongli put Chairman Mao’s handwritten letter upright in the hands of Old Mrs. Yang and said, “This is the letter Chairman Mao asked me to bring to you the old man.”
Then, Zhu Zhongli gave the gift again.
Old Mrs. Yang opened the envelope, Yang Kaizhi The couple came over to watch together. The content of the letter is:
Old Mrs. Yang, the Kaizhi couple:
Hello, are you? Now, please come to visit you for your convenience. A set of leather clothes for the old lady. Two sets of clothing materials are given to Kaizhi couple.
The family read the letter repeatedly, unable to help but wipe their tears silently.
"You are in good health? Chairman Mao asked me to visit you in person and say hello to you." Zhu Zhongli spoke up and broke the silence.
"Thank you, Miss Zhu, I am in good health, but in recent years, the Kuomintang threatened and intimidated us, making us unable to live, but did not send my life away... In recent years, the situation in the country has been gratifying, and I am happy, only to worry about Runzhi's health... Today I read his handwritten letter, and I feel much more happy... Runzhi is my son-in-law and the leader of people. I wish him blessing him..."
Old Mrs. Yang, who is nearly 80 years old, excitedly told the past
"Runzhi often came to my house to discuss social issues when he was a student. He especially liked this big bookcase." Yang Kaizhi pointed to the brown bookcase standing against the wall and recalled affectionately.
"My father has a lot of books. Runzhi has come. Sometimes he has been reading for a long time. He forgot to sit down and keep standing there and looking down. His father doesn't want to disturb him. Sometimes when I come in, my father makes a gesture and I quickly walk away. Every time he reads, the bookcase is uneven."
Yang Kaizhi's words brought the family's thoughts to decades ago.
When Zhu Zhongli heard about Chairman Mao’s past, he was very interested and asked, “How old was he at that time?”
“Runzhi was about twenty-four or five years old at that time, thin and tall. Kaihui was only sixteen or seventeen years old at that time.”
Li Chongde then recalled, “I remember one summer vacation, Runzhi was wearing straw sandals, holding an umbrella, and his pants were soaked with sweat. He walked 120 miles to our house, and we still lived in Bancang at that time…”
The past was mentioned again, and when he thought of his daughter, Old Mrs. Yang began to wipe her tears again.
Zhu Zhonglili hurriedly comforted: "You should be happy every day! I think you will also call Beijing to meet Chairman Mao soon!"
"Of course we are looking forward to this day!"
The atmosphere in the room suddenly became lively.
Before leaving, Old Lady Yang grabbed Zhu Zhongli's hand, as if she had something to say, but in the end she didn't say it. She just asked Zhu Zhongli to bring a reply letter to Chairman Mao.
After returning to Beijing, Zhu Zhongli threw down her luggage and hurried into Zhongnanhai Juxiang Bookstore.
"Chairman, I've done what you asked me to do!"
"Okay! OK!" Chairman Mao was very happy.
Zhu Zhongli told Chairman Mao about the situation of Mrs. Yang's family and handed Chairman Mao the reply letter from Mrs. Yang.
After reading the letter, Chairman Mao fell into deep thought.
"This time I got some knowledge I couldn't learn from books by my side. They told me a lot of past events and introduced many of the revolutionary activities you were engaged in back then." Zhu Zhongli broke the silence with her words.
"Ao, have you told me?" Chairman Mao asked with a smile.
"Although not all, it also made me deeply educated,"
"The year I sent Kaihui and my children to Bancang, it was the time when Chiang Kai-shek rebelled against the revolution and massacred Communist Party members and patriots. I put forward the views and propositions of the regime from the gun at the 87th meeting, and then began to organize the Autumn Harvest Uprising. I did not expect that I would part with Kaihui in my life and death... "
It can be seen that Chairman Mao is still very attached to Yang Kaihui.
1950, Chairman Mao said to his eldest son Mao Anying:
"You can go home now and go to your mother's grave for me. Bring some things to celebrate the old lady's birthday on my behalf. Then go to my hometown in Xiangtan and say hello to the villagers."
Mao Anying was naturally overjoyed.
Then, Chairman Mao said with a heavy expression:
"Your mother is a very virtuous person, and she is very brave, and has helped me a lot. Your grandfather Yang Changji is a progressive person and has provided me with a lot of support. Your grandmother is also a virtuous and noble person. She fully supports the careers of your mother and I... I miss it very much."
As he spoke, Chairman Mao's eyes were wet and his voice was a little choked.
htmlOn April 13, Chairman Mao wrote letters to Mrs. Yang and Mrs. Yang Kaizhi respectively. The content of the letter to Mrs. Yang is:
Reveal the old lady:
Happy to celebrate the old lady’s 80th birthday. Because she asked her child An Ying to return to her hometown to pay tribute, and to express her congratulations on ginseng, deer antler, clothing and other small objects to express her congratulations. Nan Qi accepted it with a smile.
The letter to Yang Kaizhi (named Zizhen) and Li Chongde and his wife is:
Zizhen, Comrade Chongde:
The letter was received. You work in the provincial government, which is very good. I hope to work hard and show my achievements. The child Anying returned to his hometown to celebrate the old lady's birthday and visited his mother's grave. At the same time, he visited you and asked you to give him advice.
With Chairman Mao’s advice, Mao Anying traveled thousands of miles to Bancang to visit his mother’s grave. In front of Yang Kaihui's tomb, Mao Anying burst into tears: "Mom, now it's liberated. Dad wants me to come back for him to visit your grave! Mom! We miss you!"
After the national supply system was changed from supply system to salary system, Chairman Mao took out a portion of his salary on schedule and sent it to Old Lady Yang to do the best of his son.
956 Chairman Mao visited Changsha for inspection. In his busy schedule, he personally went to Furong Garden for dinner.
1960 On April 25, 2019, Chairman Mao, who was busy, did not forget that this day was the 90th birthday of Mrs. Yang. He personally wrote to Yang Kaihui's cousin Yang Kaiying to celebrate his mother-in-law's birthday.
Comrade Kaiying:
Old Mrs. Yang’s 90th birthday this year, I have no respect for her. I send you 200 yuan, which is a matter of trouble. You can either buy a gift and send it, or just send it with 200 yuan, it is up to you.Thank you for your hard work!
1962, Mao Anying and Shao Hua returned to Beijing from Dalian and met Chairman Mao in Zhongnanhai .
Chairman Mao smiled and said to the couple: "The new wife should always recognize her home and let her grandmother and relatives see her!"
Following Chairman Mao's instructions, Mao Anying and Shao Hua returned to Hunan together. They first went to Bancang to visit Yang Kaihui's tomb in front of the tomb, and then went to Shaoshan to visit the villagers. Then he returned to Changsha and visited his grandmother, uncle and aunt.
In November of the same year, Old Lady Yang died of illness in Changsha. Chairman Mao immediately sent a telegram to Yang Kaizhi to mourn:
Comrade Kaizhi:
got the telegram and was shocked to hear that Old Lady Yang died, which was very sad. I hope you and your wife will mourn. I sent five hundred yuan to mourn. For funeral ceremony, you can have the same cave as Comrade Yang Kaihui, my dear wife. Our two are one, one, no distinction between each other. I hope you will be mournful and follow the changes.
Chairman Mao’s care and concern for Old Mrs. Yang embodies his respect for his mentor Mr. Yang Changji and his deep longing for his wife Yang Kaihui. He once said to Yang Kaiying:
"You Sister Xia had a child who died bravely by your side, which is rare!"
When I met the nanny Sun, Chairman Mao asked about Yang Kaihui's arrest and his situation in prison in detail, and said affectionately: "Kaihui is a good person! Anying is a good man! The victory of the revolution is hard-won, so my family sacrificed six, and some of the whole family sacrificed."
