1968, an elderly man living in Macau, China, received a "special" guest at home. The guest came from Taiwan on the order of Chiang Kai-shek and took Sun Wan to Taiwan to spend his old age.
Sun Wan refused without expecting it. She said to the visitor: "I am over 70 years old and have difficulty moving. Thank you for the invitation from Mr. Jiang, so stay in Macau."
Sun Wan
However, Chiang Kai-shek did not give up because of this. Soon after, he sent another letter asking Sun Wan to go to Taiwan to "give gold to build a house" and take care of Sun Wan's diet and daily life.
This time, Sun Wan chose to refuse again. But she turned around and asked her daughter to write two letters, one to Deng Xiaoping and the other to Liao Chengzhi. In the letter sent to Deng Xiaoping, Sun Wan roughly described her experience and said: Life is difficult, I hope to take care of you or two.
After receiving the letter, Deng Xiaoping immediately instructed Xinhua News Agency's Macau Branch to take out a sum of funds to help Sun Wan's family. Under the care of the country, Sun Wan's life has improved a lot and she was able to enjoy her old age.
So, who is this Sun Wan? Why was he able to get Chiang Kai-shek's "invitation"? What about getting the care of Deng Xiaoping?
Sun Yat-sen's second daughter, exotic first love
896, Sun Wan was born in Honolulu, USA. Her father was Sun Yat-sen's "father of the nation" and her mother was Sun Yat-sen's original wife Lu Muzhen . She is Sun Yat-sen's second daughter, and there is also an older brother Sun Ke and an older sister Sun Ce.
In the eyes of outsiders, as Sun Yat-sen's daughter, Sun Wan will definitely be able to enjoy all her glory and wealth, but this is not the case. From birth to 16 years old, Sun Wan and her mother lived in the family of uncle Sun Mei . They lived a miserable life and had only seen their father twice. Her concept of father was learned from her mother and uncle that her father was a busy man who ran around for the revolution every day.
When Sun Wan was born, Sun Yat-sen was inspecting economy and politics in London, but was discovered and imprisoned by people from the Qing government's mansion in London. After being rescued and released from prison, he traveled around the world to unite the revolutionary forces and it was difficult to meet his family. It was not until 1912 that Sun Yat-sen overthrew the feudal monarchy and was elected as the interim president of the Republic of China that he sent someone to take his family back to the country.
But the time of reunion with his father was short. In the same year, Yuan Shikai restored the throne and took office as the second interim president. In order to win over the people, he sent Sun Yat-sen's children to study in the United States, and Sun Wan also went to the United States with her brother and studied at California National University.
Sun Yat-sen could not be with his daughter, so he entrusted his good brother Huang Xing , who is in the United States to take care of his daughter. Due to busy affairs, Huang Xing handed over the heavy responsibility to Wang Boqiu .
Wang Boqiu had a prominent life experience and his ancestors were an official in the Qing Dynasty, but he himself was an ambitious young man. In his early years, he joined the Tongmenghui and assisted Sun Yat-sen in launching the Xinhai Revolution, which was highly appreciated by Sun Yat-sen. Not only that, Wang Boqiu was in the wind and was full of knowledge. When the girl saw him, she couldn't help but look at him a few more times.
Sun Wan is in her prime and has been influenced by Western free thoughts. In addition, she lacks fatherly love since childhood, so she naturally falls in love with this excellent man. Wang Boqiu also fell in love with this little girl at first sight. Whenever Sun Wan came out of school, he would appear at the school gate on time, sending water in hot weather and getting an umbrella when it rained.
Wang Boqiu
But when the news of his daughter's love reached Sun Yat-sen's ears, he immediately expressed his objection. There are two reasons: First, Wang Boqiu is 13 years older than Sun Wan, and there is an insurmountable age gap; second, Wang Boqiu has a wife named Li Chengxiang in his hometown, and the two have 7 children. One of Sun Yat-sen's revolutionary spirits was to overthrow "polygamy". He would never allow his daughter to marry a married husband.
Therefore, in the telegram to his daughter, Sun Yat-sen Zunzun taught: Wan'er should reflect on her, return home quickly, and handle the matter properly.
However, Sun Wan did not follow her father's opinion. In 11914, she just turned 18 and resolutely married 31-year-old Wang Boqiu.Due to the opposition of their parents, they didn't even have a witness around them when they got married, so they got married in a hurry.
Sun Yat-sen and two daughters
Father-daughter rifts are getting deeper, Sun Yat-sen is dying: Wan'er Come
1916, Sun Wan gave birth to his eldest daughter Wang Weihui for Wang Boqiu. Afterwards, Sun Wan became a housewife and took care of her children at home every day. However, Wang Boqiu alone could not afford to support his wife and daughter, and his life soon fell into trouble. Three years later, the two returned to China with their daughter on a boat, and Sun Wan gave birth to her eldest son Wang Hongzhi on the cruise ship.
Both children were all together, Sun Wan gathered the word "good", but what she was most worried about was that she was unable to get the recognition of her husband's family for a long time. So shortly after returning to China, Sun Wan and her children moved into the home of Sun Ke, a brother in Shanghai, and asked her husband to lobby for her hometown in Nanjing to terminate the engagement with Li Chengxiang. However, what Sun Wan did not expect was that her husband would never return.
It turned out that when Wang Boqiu returned to Nanjing, his eldest son had just died of illness. Li Chengxiang, as his mother, was crying every day. Therefore, when Wang Boqiu explained the reason, he immediately expressed his objection and angrily scolded his son: "If you divorce, we will not interact with each other from now on."
On one side is the mother and first wife, on the other side is the lover and a pair of children. Wang Boqiu had to make a choice and cut off Sun Wan's interactions. Not only that, he also asked his younger brother to go to Shanghai and took away two children. He also sent a message to Sun Wan: " 2 years, if you cannot reunite, please take advantage of it yourself. ."
years, Sun Wan waited hard in Shanghai for two years, but there was no news about her husband. She became more worried about gains and losses, and even resented her father Sun Yat-sen, believing that it was her father's suppression of Wang Boqiu (reducing Wang Boqiu to county magistrate), which caused the other party to completely abandon her and even unwilling to meet her father.
After Sun Wan divorced, in order to treat her emotional injury, she moved to Macau to live with her mother. She no longer had fantasies about love, but human calculations are not as good as God's calculations, and she unexpectedly met her true destiny.
This man is called Diansai . He graduated from Columbia University in the United States. He is a veritable top student, no less than Wang Boqiu. After returning from studying in the United States, Dainsai served as secretary in the Guangzhou Military Government and became the mayor of Wuzhou City.
After the introduction of his brother Sun Ke, Sun Wan and Dai Ansai met and got to know each other, and held a simple wedding in 1921. However, on this happy day, Sun Wan made it clear: refuses her father to attend the wedding .

Although he did not receive the invitation from his daughter, Sun Yat-sen always cared about his daughter. On the wedding day, he specially asked Soong Ching Ling to send 4,000 yuan in gifts as his daughter's dowry. However, Sun Wan's resentment towards her father did not diminish. Although she accepted the gift, she sent it to her mother Lu Muzhen.
After getting married, Sun Wan finally got out of the shadow of the previous failed marriage and gave birth to a daughter and a son for Dainsa. Sun Yat-sen was also very happy about the arrival of his two grandsons. He named his granddaughter "Success", which means that Northern Expedition will definitely succeed. He also named his grandson "Yongfeng" to commemorate the incident of Yongfeng ship (i.e. Zhongshan ship). He hopes to use his actions to express reconciliation to his daughter and let go of the grudges in his heart.
But obviously, Sun Wan didn't appreciate it. She rarely met her father, and even when she met, she was not cold or warm. Fortunately, her husband Dainsai was deeply loved by Sun Yat-sen and became the microphone of this stubborn father and daughter.
925, Sun Yat-sen suffered from liver cancer and lived in Beijing Hospital . After the news came out, Dai Ensai immediately went to Beijing to take care of his father-in-law, but Sun Wan refused to go with her. In the letter to her husband, she was full of concern for her husband, but she did not mention her father's name at all.
1 On March 12, 2025, the "Father of the Nation" Sun Yat-sen died of illness in Beijing. In addition to leaving behind the warning that "the revolution has not been successful yet, and comrades still need to work hard", the one he was most worried about was his second daughter Sun Wan.As he was dying, he stretched out his arm with difficulty, as if he wanted to catch something. When the family got closer, he kept muttering: "Wan'er Come quickly, Wan'er Come quickly, I owe you....."
However, Sun Yat-sen still did not wait for his daughter. Before his death, he gave Soong Ching Ling a photo of himself and handed it over to his daughter Sun Wan on his behalf as the only souvenir.
In fact, Sun Wan is not a stern heart, she just can't let go of that past. After her father passed away, she went to Zhongshan Mausoleum for commemoration many times. She kept the photos she left to her and would take a look when she missed her father. This habit has not changed until she passed away.
Sun Wan Dai's family
moved to Macau and wrote a letter to Deng Xiaoping in his later years: Requesting for care
929, Dai's was appointed as the Minister of the Brazilian by National Government , and Sun Wan took office with her husband. Before going abroad, she wanted to see her eldest son and daughter again, and contacted her ex-husband Wang Boqiu. But when Sun Wan was waiting in Shanghai, Wang Boqiu broke the appointment and eventually failed to see her children.
933, Sun Wan returned to China with her husband and stayed at Xiamen to work. After the War of Resistance against Japan was launched, Sun Wan, the daughter of the founding father, did not even have a pension and could only work with her husband to barely survive.
Before the founding of New China, Dai Ansai decided to move his family to Macau, but his son Dai Yongfeng wanted to land in Guangzhou and contribute to the New China. So, Sun Wan, her husband, Dainsai and daughter Dai successfully went to Macau and their lives settled down.
Unfortunately, in 1955, Dai Ansai died of a sudden cerebral hemorrhage, leaving only Sun Wan and his daughter to depend on each other. It was a very difficult period. For the sake of life, Dai Chenggong was forced to sell Dai's mansion left by his father and moved to a two-story building with his mother. By 1968, the mother and daughter had almost consumed all their property and their lives became increasingly difficult.
At this moment, Sun Wan received an invitation from Chiang Kai-shek to invite her to move to Taiwan, "give a gold to build a house" to take care of her diet and daily life.
Although Sun Wan didn't care about politics, she also realized that Chiang Kai-shek had ulterior motives. Once she goes to Taiwan, Chiang Kai-shek will make a big fuss about it and swear that she is the successor of Sun Yat-sen's will. Therefore, despite the difficulties in life, Sun Wan still rejected Chiang Kai-shek's invitation.
Sun politely rejected Chiang Kai-shek, but thought of the Communists. She called her daughter Dai Chenggong and wrote a letter to Deng Xiaoping and Liao Chengzhi in her own name, mentioning her identity as "Daughter of Sun Yat-sen" and begging the country to take care of her.
in his later years, Sun Wan
Dai Chenggong's letter attracted the attention of Deng Xiaoping. immediately instructed Xinhua News Agency's Macau Branch to take out a sum of funds to help Sun Wan's family. Under the care of the country, Sun Wan and her daughter's lives finally got better.
1969, Sun Wan ushered in another happy event. Half a century later, she finally met her eldest daughter Wang Weihui. The mother and daughter slept in the same bed as before, telling the pain of lovesickness. During this period, Sun Wan mentioned her father Sun Yat-sen again. She told her eldest daughter that she did resent her father back then, but after her father passed away, she exhaled her tone, and there was no overnight revenge between the father and daughter.
Ten years later, Dai Chenggong contacted his half-brother Wang Hongzhi, and the two met in Shanghai. Sun Wan, who is already in her 80s, was very happy and asked her daughter to help her apply for her passport, hoping to see her son.
Unfortunately, on June 10, 1979, 83-year-old Sun Wan died in Macau Jinghu Hospital and was unable to see her eldest son again in her life, which became her biggest regret.
