Liuzhi "Shenyugou Village" should be "Leopard Yugou Village"

A natural village under the jurisdiction of Zhangqiao Village Committee, Liuzhi Town. In the 1980s, a place name census organized by the Civil Affairs Bureau was registered as "Shenyugou". The "Hua County Chronicles" published in 1992 is also recorded as "Turgling Rain Ditch" in the fourth chapter of Volume 2 "Cultivation Chronicles".

An old friend of mine, Wang Changsheng, is from this village. Many years ago, when he talked to me about the origin of the village name, he said, "When I was a child, I heard from the old man that there was a place called Nandang in the southeast corner of my village Moishantan. There was a thick "baoyu" tree growing, which made the gate of the nearby nine villages and eighteen society. The village name came from this tree. The "gou" in the village name should be Liugou in the south of the village." But how do you write the word "baoyu" in the "baoyu tree"? It became a problem. An old friend recently sent me a WeChat message: "I saw a post some time ago. It was about the recent survey of ancient trees and famous trees. It mentioned that there is an ancient leopard elm tree that has been for thousands of years in a certain place in Shaanxi. I didn't know how to write these two words. Now I see this post that there is really a leopard elm tree. It is because the bark of elm tree with leopard pattern is called leopard elm tree. Therefore, the correct way to write our village name should be called leopard elm village."

Old friend Wang Changsheng reminded me on WeChat. When the young intellectuals went to the countryside, I went to the countryside in Zhangjiashan, south of Baoyugou Village. I often saw such trees with spots in the bark, which really looked like leopard prints. From this point of view, the correct way of writing "Turgyugou Village" is indeed as Wang Changsheng said, and should be "Leopard and Yugou Village".
From ancient times to the present, some place names will be homophonic and deformed during the oral process. The transformation of "Baoyugou Village" into "Heavenly Raingou Village" is an example. Now, the name of "Baoyugou Village" should be cleared.
