Preface
In the early 1980s, Chi Haotian, then vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, was preparing to inspect work in Xi'an. When he was in the south of the country, he met an old man from the local area.
The old man is a deputy secretary of a party branch in the village. When Chi Haotian saw the old man, he shouted from afar: "Old leader, I'm here to see you."
Chi Nianjia's old man
Then, the two had in-depth exchanges. The words were filled with Chi Haotian's concern for the "old leader". So who is this old leader? Why was Chi Haotian so concerned?
brave and fearless, protecting his home
The old man's name is Chi Nianjia, and his legendary experience will start from the revolutionary war years.
1924, Chi Nianjia was born in a farmer family in Rongcheng, Shandong. At this time, China was in a warlord battle and the people were in dire straits, but the people were powerless to do anything about such a dark life.
The miserable life of poor people
Like most farmers, their family barely lives on the few acres of land they rented. When Chi Nianjia grew up a little, he began to herd cattle to relieve the burden on his home. Although he worked diligently at work, he was often scolded by landlords for no reason. At this time, he made up his mind to work hard to let his parents live a happy life.
1938, the Japanese army launched a large-scale attack on the Shandong region and successively occupied Yantai , Weihai and other places. Wherever the Japanese army went, they burned, killed, looted, and committed all kinds of evil. Chi Nianjia's hometown of Rongcheng County has many Japanese guardhouses. Every once in a while, the Japanese army would come out to harm the people. Seeing their compatriots being brutally killed by the Japanese army, Chi Nianjia was determined to drive the Japanese out of their homes.
In early 1940, Chi Nianjia joined the Eighth Route Army with a heart of serving the country and became an ordinary soldier in the Wendeng County Brigade of the Eighth Route Army.
At that time, the brigade where Chi Haotian was located had no guns. Every time he fought, the soldiers had to fight hand-to-hand with the enemy. Just in the first year after joining the army, Chi Nianjia participated in five battles. Because of his bravery in combat, he was soon recognized by the organization and honorably joined the Communist Party of China.
The Japanese army carried out a large-scale sweep
In this year, Chi Nianjia's only younger brother Chi Nianshun died on the battlefield in a battle of Qingdao , which also became an indelible shadow in his heart. From then on, his heart became more determined to fight the Japanese.
1942, the Japanese and puppet troops concentrated their forces to conduct a "big sweep" of the anti-Japanese base in Jiaodong, and carried out a tragic massacre of the people in Mashishan, . The second platoon where Chi Nianjia was located fought bloody battles and broke out of the Japanese encirclement. After covering more than a thousand people, they all died on the battlefield because they were outnumbered.
When I mentioned this experience later, Chi Nianjia always cried and said: "I felt even more sad when I saw my comrades around me one by one. But war is cruel. Only by killing more enemies on the battlefield can I be worthy of them."
On the battlefield, Chi Nianjia turned her longing for her comrades into strength, fought bloody battles with the enemy, and made many military achievements.
Eighth Route Army soldiers
In August 1945, the Chinese people finally achieved the great victory of the Anti-Japanese War after fourteen years of bloody battles. Just when Chi Nianjia thought that the peace situation in the country was about to come true, Chiang Kai-shek mobilized heavy troops to attack the liberated areas on a large scale, and the clouds of the civil war in hugged the people of the whole country.
During the War of Liberation, Chi Nianjia actively responded to the call of the party organization, united the local military and civilians, and fought with the Kuomintang reactionaries. On the battlefield, Chi Nianjia performed well and was appreciated by the party organizations many times.
In September 1948, the Central Military Commission made the strategic decision to "conquer Jinan". The East China People's Liberation Army unified the command of a siege group with a force of 140,000 and launched a large-scale attack on Jinan.
After the Jinan Battle started, the 73rd Regiment of the 25th Division of the 9th Column of the East China Field Army was in charge of the general attack, while Chi Nianjia served as the company commander of the 9th Company of the 73rd Regiment.
Jinan is the capital of Shandong Province, a large city with a population of nearly 700,000, and a strategic location connecting East China and North China. In order to stop the PLA's pace, the Kuomintang army strengthened the city defense in Jinan.
warriors launched an attack on Jinan City. The soldiers of the
73 regiment tied the ladders prepared in advance into ladders more than ten meters long, and went one after another to climb the city tower and fought desperately with the enemy.
At this time, Chi Nianjia suffered from acute appendicitis . In order not to drag down the soldiers' siege progress, he repeatedly pinched himself forward with his hands. Later, under the leadership of the company commander Chi Nianjia, the 9th Company of the 3rd Battalion successfully blew up the Sanhuang Temple, causing heavy damage to the Kuomintang defenders. The soldiers of the
73 Regiment went one after another, and finally liberated the inner city with strong city defense, allowing the main force to quickly enter Jinan and join the battle. After the battle, the organization decided to award them the honorable title of " Jinan First Regiment " in view of the contribution made by the 73rd Regiment in this Jinan Battle. After
, Chi Nianjia participated in Huaihai Battle , Crossing the River Battle and other large and small battles, making countless military achievements and making great contributions to the founding of New China.
Hero Battalion Commander Chi Nianjia
After the founding of New China, it did not usher in a peaceful and stable development environment. In June 1950, the " United Nations Army " led by the United States invaded North Korea on a large scale and sent planes to bomb the Northeast region of our country, resulting in the safety of the Chinese people's lives being guaranteed.
At the request of the North Korean People's Government, the Party Central Committee and Chairman Mao made the major decision to "resist U.S. aggression and aid Korea and defend the country." Under the leadership of Peng Dehuai, the Chinese People's Volunteer Army rushed to North Korea in a mighty manner.
Volunteer Army soldiers rushed to North Korea
On November 7, 1950, Chi Nianjia secretly entered North Korea with the 27th Army. At this time, he served as the battalion commander of the 1st Battalion of the 235th Regiment of the 79th Division of the 27th Army. When
first entered North Korea, the organization assigned a task to the first battalion where Chi Nianjia was, to capture the 1282 highland occupied by the enemy. But before the battle began, the food was cut off.
On November 13, Chi Nianjia led the soldiers of the first battalion to set off from Linjiang and headed straight to the assembly ground in the north of Changjin Hubei - Yumuli. Because they came out in a hurry, they only brought dry food for two days, and the logistics and replenishment could not keep up, and the first battalion was facing serious difficulties.
On the afternoon of November 27, the food was gone, and the soldiers could only rely on dry drinking snow water to fill their hunger. It was about to fight, but everyone was still hungry. At this moment, news came from the camp that there was meat to eat.
It turned out that Chi Nianjia killed his war horse for everyone's sake. On the Korean battlefield, war horses play a crucial role, but for everyone's sake, Chi Nianjia did not hesitate to let the soldiers kill the horses. After the soldiers of
had a full meal, Chi Nianjia made a mobilization speech in the team: "We are going to fight the Americans, and everyone must be strong in a twelve-point spirit. American imperialism is all paper tigers, what's the terrible thing? Back then, the Kuomintang army used American weapons, and we were not going to clean up."
Chi Nianjia during the revolutionary period
After listening to Chi Nianjia's speech, everyone cheered up and prepared to welcome the battle below.
In order to complete the tasks assigned to him by the organization at the lowest cost, Chi Nianjia sent a small team to investigate the target high ground to find out the general situation of the enemy. After investigation,
found that the 1282 1st Marine Division of the US military was . The 1st Marine Division is the ace force of the US military. They are not only one of the Eight-Nation Alliance that invaded China, but also the vanguard when North Korea landed in Incheon, and are also the first troops to fight against our volunteer army. They are comparable to those of extraordinary strength. Under the command of battalion commander Chi Nianjia, the first battalion of
, led by the first company, cooperated with the regiment spy company to launch an attack on the 1282 Highland. The instructor and most of the soldiers in the company have been sacrificed, but the attack has not made effective progress.
Faced with such an elite force, Chi Nianjia decided to give full play to our army's advantages, namely night battles and close battles.
The US military on the Korean battlefield
In the early morning, Chi Nianjia issued an order and launched an attack on the 1282 Highland again. The soldiers of the two squads fought hand-to-hand with the enemy, and finally killed more than 20 enemies, captured 6 enemies, and occupied 1,282 highlands.
After learning about the loss of the position, the US military immediately mobilized troops to counterattack the position. At first, they mobilized a platoon of troops to reinforce, and later a whole company was transferred. In an instant, the US military's strength on the 1282 high ground had reached 6 platoons, and after the battle, our army only had one platoon left.
At the same time, the US military also sent planes to reinforce, and our soldiers faced a more severe situation.
battalion commander Chi Nianjia suffered from severe stomach disease, but he could only grab the snow ball and swallow it. However, the more he ate, the more he felt the pain. Chi Nianjia had to cover his stomach and fight with the enemy.
At dusk the next day, a bunch of people suddenly appeared in the snow in front of us. It turned out to be reinforcements from nearly three squads of our army. Under the leadership of the instructor, they crawled forward in the snow, rushed straight to the position, and regained an unknown high ground in front of the main peak position.
A scene in the Battle of Changjin Lake
From then on, the US troops stationed nearby no longer reinforced the 1282 highland. The enemy and us could only confront each other at close range, but neither of them had the ability to defeat each other.
Later, when Chi Nianjia recalled this battle, she always said with tears: "The battle was extremely fierce at that time. The soldiers did not eat a bite of food or drink a sip of water in the middle. They fought fiercely with the enemy several times with their tenacious will. Just when the soldiers were about to die with the enemy, the Americans finally collapsed. Whenever I think of the scenes of my comrades falling beside me, I feel very sad."
Since then, Chi Nianjia has made many contributions on the Korean battlefield and has been recognized by the superiors. In this war, he deeply felt the strength of the US military and decided to study hard and contribute his own strength to the military construction of New China.
Chi Haotian visited the old leader: You can make any requests you have to put them into
1955, in order to commend those comrades who made contributions in the revolutionary war years, the Party Central Committee decided to award these revolutionary heroes the title. Chi Nianjia made great contributions to the War of Resistance Against Japan, the War of Liberation and the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, and was awarded the rank of colonel.
1955 Chinese People's Liberation Army rank award ceremony
rank award ceremony ended, Chi Nianjia took the initiative to apply to the organization, hoping to study at Nanjing Advanced Infantry School.
1959, Chi Nianjia successfully graduated from school. The organization decided to transfer him to the position of the team-level treatment. Faced with all this in front of him, Chi Nianjia decisively gave up.
It turned out that Chi Nianjia learned about the news that his hometown was facing famine, and even his parents suffered from severe edema due to hunger. Chi Nianjia decided to return to her hometown and contribute to the local construction.
After returning to his hometown, Chi Nianjia did not enjoy any special treatment. He worked in the grain system and personnel department one after another. Later, Chi Nianjia actively responded to the state's call for farming and voluntarily resigned from her current position.
The medal won by Chi Nianjia
In the village, Chi Nianjia served as the deputy secretary of the party branch. Although he was over 60 years old, he was still working himself and won the respect of everyone.
Under his leadership, the village built chestnut gardens, apple orchards and kiln factories, which greatly enriched the lives of the villagers. According to regulations, all working farmers have job points . Faced with these, Chi Nianjia refused righteously. He said, "I am just an ordinary person. Besides, the country has paid me a salary, how can I ask for two copies?"
Not only that, he is also very frugal in life. In order not to cause trouble for the organization, the family of seven of them squeezed into a small land reform house.
While he strictly demanded himself, he did not allow his children to have any special treatment. Sometimes his son went to the mountain to pick grass with him, and he would scold him if he broke an extra branch.
worked in the army for many years, and Chi Nianjia had many comrades who lived and died together, and Chi Haotian, the former vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, was one of them.
General Chi Haotian
When they were in the Ninth Column, they were in the same battalion. At that time, Chi Nianjia was the company commander, and Chi Haotian was the clerk. Chi Haotian always remembered the former old leader deeply in his heart.
In the early 1980s, when Chi Haotian went to Xi'an for inspection, he passed by Jinan and remembered the former old leader. He made a special trip to visit Chi Nianjia. After learning about his current life, he took the initiative to ask: "If you have any requests in life, I can ask the organization for instructions. After all, you have made such a great contribution to the revolution. "
After hearing this, Chi Nianjia couldn't help but recall his comrades who had fallen beside him. Then, he slowly said ten words: "I have no requirements for the Party and the people. ”
Then, Chi Nianjia said, “So many comrades have sacrificed their precious lives for the liberation of New China. Compared with them, I am already very lucky to be able to enjoy my old age. "
Chi Nianjia in his later years
There are no heroes falling from the sky in the world, only mortals who stand up. These revolutionary heroes use their blood and lives to protect our great motherland. As younger generations, we must inherit their revolutionary spirit, follow the party forever, and strive to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation as soon as possible.
