In the Jiaodong Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on the eastern foot of Yashan , a monument stands towering. The big words "Comrade Hong Guozhi who sacrificed for the party's education cause will last forever" on the front of the monument are clearly engraved on it, and are also deeply engraved in the hearts of Jiaodong Anti-Japanese Teachers and Students. He is the only Anti-United University teacher buried in Jiaodong Martyrs Cemetery, and he is also a teacher who has been ill after overwork for the Anti-United University teaching and has worked hard until the last moment of his life.

Hong Guozhi was born in Xiashuige Village, Zhuji County, Zhejiang Province in 1916. His father died early and his mother raised him to adulthood. In 1933, Hong Guozhi graduated from high school and relied on his uncle to join the Provincial Xianghu Rural Normal School. After graduation, he became a primary school teacher. Hong Guozhi advocates the "rural construction" theory of Liang Shuming. After graduation, he will hold a farmers' night school and open a farmers' credit loan cooperative. He will work hard and spare no effort. The occurrence of

July 7 Incident aroused his strong enthusiasm for resisting Japan and saving the country, and at the same time broke his dream of rural construction. He traveled thousands of miles to northern Shaanxi and entered Shaanbei Public School to study. Joined the Communist Party of China in May 1938. After graduation, he stayed at school as a researcher at the China Research Office. In the winter of the same year, Shaanxi Northern Public School merged with the Chinese People's Anti-Japanese Military and Political University. Later, the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University sent several teams of personnel to the local base area to run schools, and Hong Guozhi was incorporated into , the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University first branch, and served as a political teacher. In May 1941, he joined the Jiaodong Anti-Japanese University and entered the Yashan Revolutionary Base Area, and successively served as chief political instructor, battalion director teacher, political instructor, and battalion deputy instructor.

Hong Guozhi is hardworking and meticulous in his work, and he is dedicated and serious in teaching. Due to his long-term selfless work and overwork, he became ill. In the summer of 1944, his condition was already very serious. He often coughed and vomited blood during lectures, but he and his comrades were still engaged in the tense "June Assault Movement Month". The cooking team made a doctor's meal for him, and he quietly asked the correspondent to give it to other patients, and ate coarse grains and wild vegetables like everyone else.

As the condition worsens, he often coughs up blood. Others are afraid, so he says, "It doesn't matter, doing a revolution means bleed and sacrifice. What are you afraid of if you vomit some blood?" He also told the comrades around him to keep it confidential. He often sacrifices rest time, listens to students' opinions, prepares lessons carefully, and improves teaching. The student was worried that he was tired of teaching while standing, so he stacked his two backpacks and asked him to sit and speak, but he said, "Sir, speaking while standing, facilitates gestures and enhances the teaching effect; students sat and listen, easy to record, and helps to remember knowledge."

In the autumn of 11944, Hong Guozhi was so sick that he couldn't sit up, but the fourth class student was about to graduate, and he didn't care about his rest, did not care about his own illness, and still insisted on working. In the end, he couldn't hold on, so he lay on the floor and listened to the students' thoughts and summed up until he sent the students away and was admitted to the hospital for treatment. Because of the limited medical conditions at that time and the delay in sending the doctor, the doctor no longer had the power to restore the situation. In February 1945, Hong Guozhi passed away at the age of 29.

After Hong Guozhi's death, the comrades who were familiar with him and his students were very sad. Li Shuxiang, chief political instructor of Jiaodong Anti-Japanese University, said with regret: "Comrade Guozhi worked hard and devoted himself to his work. He was exhausted! He is a role model on our education front. We all must teach by example and carry forward the spirit of the Anti-Japanese University like him."
