Seeing that this truck was hopeless, he immediately ran to the remaining trucks and opened the nearest door with the help of tools.
He used all his strength to roll down the oil drum in the carriage. Without this batch of aviation gasoline on the battlefield, our army's fighter would no longer be able to fight.
He kept rolling the oil barrels and pushed out more than twenty barrels in one breath. This often required three or four people to complete the task.
The enemy plane seemed to have discovered his move, and the fighter jets kept firing at him.
The bullets made a crackling sound when they hit the truck. As the fire grew bigger and bigger, it gradually spread to the top of the truck. The oil drums became very hot and could explode at any time.
Liu Zuokun did not give in at all. He endured the boiling heat and continued to boil the oil barrel. Soon a soldier came here under gunfire.
Liu Zuokun was responsible for rolling the oil barrel down, and the soldier moved the oil barrel to a safe area.
Subsequently, more and more soldiers joined the ranks of rescuing oil barrels.
Under the scorching flames, the soldiers went all out to rescue the oil barrels. They had to beware of aerial bombings and the oil barrels that were about to explode at any time. The difficulty was unimaginable to ordinary people.
After two hours of rescue, these oil barrels were finally safe.
Liu Zuokun did not stop for a moment in the past two hours. He rescued 85 barrels of gasoline by himself. His palms were burned with blood blisters from the hot oil barrels, and his body was still injured by artillery shells.
After the last barrel of oil was pushed out of the car, he could no longer hold on and fainted on the ground.
The next day, the North Korean military specially sent people to the field hospital to thank Liu Zuokun. If he had not protected these important fuels, the subsequent battles would have been unimaginable.
Our army also sent personnel to express condolences to him, and later wrote a book about his deeds in the army for soldiers to learn from.
