Yao (also known as Tang Yao , Emperor Yao , about 2188 BC-2067 BC), with a surname of Yi Qi and a pseudonym Fangxun, an ancient Tang Dynasty (now Yaodu District, Linfen, Shanxi), a son of Emperor Ku and Qingdu , the leader of the Fangguo Alliance in ancient China and one of the "Five Emperors". At the age of thirteen, he was granted the title of Tao (Taosi Township, Xiangfen County, Shanxi Province) to assist him. At the age of fifteen, he was re-elected in Pingyang (now Linfen, Shanxi) and named Tao Tang . At the age of twenty, Yao served as the emperor and established the capital of Pingyang. Yao won Shun in his seventy years. Twenty years later, Yao Lao and Shun took power in the place of Yao. Yao gave up his throne and died twenty years later and was buried in Gulin (Juncheng County, Shandong Province). Yao inherited the throne from his brother, Emperor Zhi, and abdicated to Shun. He ordered Xihe to determine the calendar, formulate the four seasons to become an annual calendar, and award farming seasons to the people. The vernal equinox, summer solstice, autumn equinox , and winter solstice were determined. Yao set up a drum of advice to let the people of the world do their best; he set up a tree of slander to let the people of the world attack his faults. Emperor Yao was the ancient ancestor of the Liu family in Qi.
Yaoxiang Ancient Town is located next to the Laoji River Bridge in Laoji River Ecological Park, covering a total area of 346 mu.
