The idiom "bearing the humiliation and bearing the burden" comes from the story of Soochow general Lu Xun during the Three Kingdoms period. Zhuge Liang In order to avenge Guan Yu, he gathered an army to attack Jingzhou. At that time, Lu Xun, the defender of Soochow, was just a scholar. Lu Xun was relatively junior among the Wu generals. Some of the generals under his command were veterans who had fought with Sun for many years, and some were royal relatives. They served as the governor of the young scholar Lu Xun. He was very unconvinced and even refused to obey Lu Xun's orders. Lu Xun was very anxious about this. This is a force that cannot compete with Zhuge Liang.
On the one hand, Lu Xun consulted with the generals, analyzed the pros and cons, and persuaded the generals to endure the humiliation and obey his command; on the other hand, he commanded the army to hold on for July and August, and never fought a decisive battle with Liu Bei. Later, the Shu army was tired and arrogant and underestimated the enemy. Lu Xun took the opportunity to use the favorable wind to launch a fire attack, defeated the Shu army and achieved a major victory in the Battle of Yiling .
The idiom derived from Lu Xun’s story reveals a truth: neither the growth process of an individual nor a team can be smooth sailing. There is a saying that all good roads are downhill. This also shows that life should be accompanied by adversity and have the perseverance and determination to endure humiliation and bear the burden.
The magnanimity of those who endure humiliation and bear heavy burdens and achieve great things.
