In 1923, appointed by Li Dazhao, Chen Weiren came to the Northeast to carry out party work. After the "August 7th" meeting, the Northern Bureau of the CPC Central Committee sent Chen Wei to the Northeast to prepare for the establishment of the Manchurian Provincial Party Committee. With the efforts of Chen Weiren, Wu Lishi and others, in October 1927, the Manchurian Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China was formally established. Chen Weiren serves as secretary, secretary-general and minister of propaganda. In January 1928, at the second party member congress in the Northeast, Chen Weiren continued to serve as secretary. In September, Chen Weiren presided over the third party member congress in Northeast China. The meeting decided to change the Manchuria Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China to the Manchuria Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Chen Weiren was appointed as the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.

After the establishment of the Manchuria Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, Chen Weiren actively carried out the mass movement of workers and peasants to restore and develop the party's organization. By the end of 1928, party organizations such as Fengtian Municipal Committee, Shenbei District Committee, Liaoyang District Committee, and Guandong County Committee had been restored and established, with more than 270 party members. Here, under the leadership of Chen Weiren, he successively published publications such as "Manchuria Newsletter", "Manchuria Red Flag", and "Manchuria Workers", and trained a group of grassroots party cadres through short training courses and other methods. From the establishment of the Manchuria Provincial Party Committee in October 1927 to his arrest in December 1928, he was re-elected as Secretary of the Manchuria Provincial Party Committee three times.

On December 24, 1928, Chen Weiren and other 14 people were arrested when they held an enlarged meeting of the provincial party committee in Shenyang. Despite the severe punishment, they never revealed their identity. Since the enemy did not obtain any evidence, Chen Weiren was released in July 1929. In the spring of 1931, he was arrested again. At the end of 1931, he was rescued by the party and was released from prison.

Chen was imprisoned twice and suffered severe physical damage. He was eventually treated ineffectively. He died of illness in Shanghai on March 13, 1937, at the age of 38. To commend him for his outstanding contributions to the Chinese revolution, at the Seventh National Congress of the Party held in 1945, Comrade Chen Weiren was ratified as a revolutionary martyr.
