2021, 24-year-old Vilmorin was officially appointed as the creative director of women's clothing series by Rochas. This French brand with a history of nearly a century is looking forward to Vilmorin adding a new era of Paris to it. Neither the Rochas and Charles de Vilmorin brands are minimalist, but there are many differences. In Vilmorin's view, "Rochas' woman has the past. She is more confident and more complicated." In the 2022 spring, summer and autumn and winter seasons he designed for Rochas, we can see the controlled drama, but it has not disappeared, but has become a hint that among the countless carefully designed details, the Rochas woman coming from a distance must be very different from what we expected.

MW: First of all, can you introduce you and your design style to readers of "Weekend Pictorial"?

I am 25 years old and founded the same name brand Charles de Vilmorin two years ago. I am very passionate about film, music and painting, and naturally I often get design inspiration from these works. is why my haute couture collections often have strong colors. Of course, I also like to study fashion craftsmanship.

In my opinion, fashion is just part of the story, and this story is inspired by my life. If I were to describe myself in three words, I think it was: passionate, curious and real.

MW: You can share with us why you wanted to create the brand Charles de Vilmorin? Have you achieved the goal of establishing a brand at present?

In fact, creating a brand has always been my dream and goal. Fortunately, I quickly got the opportunity to turn my dream into reality just after graduating from school. I created Charles de Vilmorin to express myself through my work. I am very satisfied with everything I have done, especially through design to convey the message I want to convey; but on the other hand, my ready-to-wear part has not yet developed well, which is what I am working on at this stage.

MW: We found in your design that you like to design very exaggerated outlines for ready-to-wear. These exaggerated outlines even become your signature. We want to know, what does it mean?

often inspires my design inspiration. I have also been inspired by arts like Egon Schiele, Otto Dix and Tim Burton.

I like to draw some interesting creatures because they don't represent people of any particular category, but everyone can find their own shadow in these creatures.

MW: You love to use a lot of interesting and slightly weird illustrations in your design, why?

Because painting is the basis of my entire creative process. I love painting, just like designing fashion. Painting can embody the mysterious universe that is built in my mind.

MW: In your opinion, what is the difference between designing men's and women's clothing?

is actually no difference to me. My design didn't intend to deliberately distinguish genders. I think anyone who wants to wear the fashion I design can wear.

MW: How do you usually get inspiration for your creation?

I often look for creative inspiration in life, through the people I meet and my own experiences. Inspiration is everywhere for me, and of course it exists in movies and music.

MW: In your design, what is the reason for preferring high saturation?

Because I grew up in a very colorful environment, I am very sensitive to color, especially in photography and painting. Color can tell some problems and convey a strong message, and each color has its meaning.

But, I also like black because black will not cheat and will not lie.

MW: The rapid development of social media is a "double-edged sword". On the one hand, it allows everyone to obtain the information they want faster, but on the other hand, it also distances people from real life; then, is social media important to you? What is the proportion in your life at the moment?

social media is really very important to me, but you have to know how to use them. I have found a lot of inspiration in social media, which has helped me meet a lot of people and has made it easier for me to follow the artists I like and appreciate. It is because of social media that I can show myself and let people discover my work. I love sharing on social media and I will continue to do that.
