In 1945, the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry established strict haute couture standards. Members of the Haute Couture Association must abide by specific rules as follows:

● has a studio in Paris employing at least fifteen full-time employees;
● has at least 20 full-time handcrafted technical craftsmen
● displays at least 50 original designs to the public each fashion season (twice in January and July each year), including daywear and evening wear.
