Simple Share how to wear clothes in winter to keep warm without looking too bulky.

·Three-layer dressing principle
In the cold winter outdoors, if you want to keep your clothes as warm as possible, it is best to adopt the "three-layer dressing method". The "three-layer" mentioned here refers to clothes are divided into three layers: inner, middle and outer from the inside to the outside.
inner layer : moisture wicking layer.
middle layer : warm layer.
outer layer : windproof and waterproof layer.

The principle of the three-layer dressing method is to tightly lock body heat through the three links of wind protection, warmth retention and moisture absorption to achieve the purpose of efficient warmth preservation.
1. The inner layer

The inner layer is preferably thermal underwear with good breathability and moisture conductivity ( does not refer to underwear and bras), such as autumn clothes and autumn trousers. Many brands now have this kind of moisture-absorbing and quick-drying thermal underwear, such as Uniqlo HEATTECH series, CoolMax of Dupont , if you like sports, Under Armor Under Armor and Decathlon products are good choices. For high-intensity sports such as skiing and running in extremely cold conditions, the X-Bionic brand is recommended.
It is best not to wear pure cotton underwear as the inner layer, because pure cotton clothes are easy to absorb moisture, but not easy to dissipate moisture. They can easily absorb sweat and become damp. Wet clothes will take away a lot of heat, causing hypothermia, which can be uncomfortable to wear, or even life-threatening.
2. The middle layer

The middle layer is the thermal insulation layer. The main function of is to keep warm. By forming an air layer that accumulates in the clothes, it can achieve the effect of isolating the outside cold air and maintaining body temperature. Common warm layer clothes include sweaters, fleece jackets, down, etc. These clothes have wool fibers that can lock in the air to achieve a warm effect.

Although sweaters have many advantages, sweaters are not easy to take care of and have large gaps and are not windproof, so they are not recommended for outdoor use.

Down is basically one of the warmest materials. It is very suitable for outdoor use, but it is not suitable for high-intensity outdoor sports. The biggest disadvantage of down jackets is that they cannot touch water. Once they touch water, their warmth retention will be greatly reduced.

Fleece jacket is the most common thermal insulation layer for outdoor. It has good warmth retention and soft touch. It can still provide good thermal insulation effect even when it is slightly exposed to water, and the material dries quickly.
3. The outer

windproof and waterproof layer is the outermost layer. It is generally made of stiff and dense materials to block cold wind from directly intruding into the body surface and preventing it from taking away body heat, such as our common jackets, , windbreakers, windproof down, etc. How to choose a jacket can be read in my previous article.
In fact, raincoats have the best waterproof and windproof effects, but they have no breathability at all. It would be very uncomfortable to sweat all over during exercise in winter.
Most mainstream outdoor sports companies produce their own waterproof and breathable materials. The waterproof and breathable functions of these waterproof materials also vary greatly in use.
When purchasing, you must not only consider whether the waterproof and breathable properties will diminish with long-term use, but also whether they can be washed directly in a washing machine.

Well, I will share the three-layer dressing method here. The core strength of clothing to keep warm is the middle thermal layer and the outer windproof layer. Three-layer clothing does not mean three pieces of clothing. You need to match them according to your own environment.
I personally think that the three-layer dressing method is quite effective, but it is not necessary to match clothes according to this method. The sweater and down jacket that I wore before going to work would make me wet and uncomfortable after just two steps. For example, wearing sweat-absorbent underwear for daily travel, a sweater and a down jacket are enough to keep warm. [What] do you think?
