When it comes to countries that are good at making suspense dramas, we have to mention South Korea. It can not only shoot "Secret Forest" and " Peeping ", which make the audience scratch their heads and wants to know the subsequent plot development, but also integrate suspense elements with warm elements to bring the audience the continuous reversal and healing sense of "Monster". In this type of drama, "The Truth Behind the Suspense Cases" is the main storyline. At the same time, the screenwriter and director will also set "heavy original family background or tragic criminal motivation" for other supporting roles around them to make the plot more profound and bring more discussions at the same time.
What I want to introduce to you today is also such a suspense Korean drama called "Blind", starring the new generation of Korean actors Yuze and Jung Eun-di .
Both were born as idols, but they have both taken the lead and starred in many dramas: Yuzawa played with Kim So-hyun cp in "Fighting Ghosts and Gods", and played the scheming villain in "Vincento " with outstanding acting skills; Jung Eun-di made his mark in the entertainment industry with " Please Answer 1997", and later starred in many popular dramas in "Unreasonable Forward" and "Drunkard City Women".
What kind of surprise will the two new generation young actors join forces bring us? Let’s take a look together.
, Clown murder case
The story begins with the death of "young woman Bai Zhien". She was brutally killed on the night of her birthday, and her death was very cruel: the corners of her mouth were cut open by a sharp weapon, and she became a clown who could not complain about pain and fear.
The body was discovered by an old lady, and the police soon arrived at the scene. The leader was a police officer named Liu Chenglie (played by Yu Ze). He had a very good case handling ability. He arrested the major suspect Zheng Manchun through the details of the scene in just three days. He was only about to end the trial and could bring him to justice.
It seemed that the case was going smoothly, but unexpectedly, Zheng Manchun had many backs on the trial: First, he threw out Bai Zhien's father owed him seven million yuan in salary to attract the jury's sympathy for him, and later said that he was not the last person to meet Bai Zhien at the scene. Finally, he pointed out that "it was the policeman Liu Chenglie who took Bai Zhien away." For a moment, the judge and the jury were both sighing and shocked by such absurd development.
Although Liu Chenglie proved his innocence, the move "Zheng Manchun accused Liu Chenglie" is meaningful. What is the relationship between the real murderer and Liu Chenglie? What happened in the past that the murderer wanted to kill Liu Chenglie?
Narrative rhythm is fast, and suspense murder brings a sense of thriller and suspense on the screen, which has successfully won praise from the audience.
, Nightmare Welfare House
Timeline pulls back, and goes back to a "nightmare army soldiers kill young children" incident many years ago. Military soldiers all call it a mad dog and are keen to violently beat children in welfare homes; five of the many children choose to escape, and even if they have little hope, they are eager to escape from the name "Happiness Home" but in fact it is a place of hell.
The scene schedule of this escape scene is amazing! The night sets off the fear, and the mad dog's whistle is like a notification of death, which makes the scalp numb. The evil dog was looking for the breath of the escaped child in the haystack. The child was trembling and mud was pasted on his face to cover it up. He was about to find himself only a few centimeters and was so nervous that he dared not breathe.
Two children escaped to the road by luck but were repeatedly crushed and killed by vehicles. The surviving child saw clearly in fear that the driver was not someone else, but the director who was in love with the mad dog. What makes people even more frightened is that the mad dog has already discovered the last child hiding in the cellar, but pretends not to know. The blood of other children was deliberately dripped on the faces of the children in the cellar to show a warning... In just 10 minutes, the children's sense of despair and depression that cannot escape hell were fully displayed.
Seeing this, the audience who carefully observed the clues had guessed that the mad dog of the army soldier many years ago was the father of the young woman Bai Ji-eun; and the murderer who killed Bai Ji-eun was one of the five children back then.
In Liu Chenglie's memory, there was a child looking at the mad dog with a terrifying eyes. It was obvious that Liu Chenglie was the child in the cellar back then. But the screenwriter and director will not really set the "police as the murderer", nor will they let the murderer appear in front of the audience so early, so the murderer may only be one of the other four children.
Plus in the third episode, the "Daughter Death Case" of the director with the mad dog many years ago appeared, and the series officially evolved from an ordinary murder case to a "revenge and counterattack". Many years ago, a young and kind child came back from bloodthirsty and became an existence that tortured his evil people many years ago. The evil people and the black man are thrilling, making the audience look forward to the development of the subsequent plot more.
, some production advantages
There are many characters in "Blind" and involves two narrative branches: the past and the present. If you are not careful, the plot will appear very chaotic. Therefore, the screenwriter and director use color tones and time periods to distinguish time. The beginning of each episode suppresses the color tones for 10 minutes is to recall the past. The subsequent color tones return to normal is to tell the normal time and space, which helps the audience understand the plot more clearly.
Narratively maintains the rhythm of each episode being reversal and details everywhere. It is reflected in the irony that the victim's family is the perpetrator, and in addition to Yoo Sung-yeol, Mad Dog, and Choi Man-young, the horror of "the 9 juries all have close ties with the perpetrators many years ago" at the trial in the court case.
Choi Man-young once told the jury that "you will all die". The camera language said that 9 juries have been targeted by the murderers behind the scenes, and one of the jurors is likely to be one of the surviving children back then! Could it be that the murderer is hiding in the middle of the jury, or is he working with the jury members? This suspicion undoubtedly made the audience creepy.
Of course, "Blind" also has some shortcomings, such as if you like to be mysterious too much, and deliberately shoot Liu Chenglie's gloomy expression misleads the audience; the story background that needs to be told has too many relationships with the characters that need to be unfolded, and I hope to achieve a fast pace but use too much force, which leads to a little too fast pace. Many plots have to be re-watched to understand.
But as a suspense drama, the creation of "Blind" in a horror atmosphere is completely nothing to say, the suffocation of being chased, the murderer hiding the murderer in the toilet and bathroom, and even the cruelty of witnessing the death of his daughter with his own eyes...Audiences who like this type of drama will never be disappointed with the audio-visual language and the development of the plot.
