2010 was my first visit to Mr. Ma Guifang. Her first impression she gave me was that she was kind and approachable. 10 years have passed since today. This year, I visited Mr. Ma Guifang again. This time she told me a story about her. After listening to it, I sincerely expressed my admiration.

Ma Guifang has always depended on her daughter. Ma Guifang's daughter Liu Zixin and I are still alumni. They both graduated from Shaanxi Normal University , but I graduated ten years earlier than Liu Zixin. Liu Zixin is now a teacher in a high school in Xi'an.

Ma Guifang's husband is Liu Xiaoming, an educated youth in Beijing. There is also a heroic love story between them. Liu Xiaoming was born in a not-rich family in Beijing. His father was a worker in the steel factory, his mother had no job, and the family of four relied on his father to support his life alone. After Liu Xiaoming graduated from junior high school, he actively responded to the national call and came to Miaogou Gate Brigade in Fugu County, Yulin City to work as an educated youth in the lineup. It was at this time that Liu Xiaoming met Ma Guifang.

Because the temporary residence built for educated youth has not been built yet, the educated youth can only live temporarily in the home of a fellow villager. Liu Xiaoming lived at Ma Guifang's house at that time. Ma Guifang's father was feeding cattle in the brigade. He was very honest. It is said that children from poor families were early. After Ma Guifang graduated from elementary school, he began to help his family do farm work, which also led to Ma Guifang looking mature and steady than children of the same age.

Ma Guifang's family took great care of Liu Xiaoming and specially opened a spacious and bright house for Liu Xiaoming to live in. At Ma Guifang's house, Liu Xiaoming was not idle either. Liu Xiaoming rushed to do the farm work of all sizes at home. When he first came, Liu Xiaoming was a little unaccustomed to rural life because he didn't know much about rural living utensils and made a lot of jokes.

Because the Miaogou Gate Brigade is remote, the fellow villagers are not living a wealthy life, and there is not even a decent elementary school in the team. Students can only go to the cave to teach. After Liu Xiaoming found out, he decided to help the Miaogou Gate Brigade build a school. Liu Xiaoming took out the 20 yuan his father gave him before leaving, and called on other educated youth to donate money, but the money is far from enough to build a decent elementary school.

Liu Xiaoming and more than 20 educated youths wrote a letter to the county education committee. Later, the county considered the actual situation of the Miaogou Gate Brigade and allocated some funds to build the school. After raising funds for the construction of the school, Liu Xiaoming found the team leader Ma Youcai and organized fellow villagers. After more than a year, Miaogou Gate Primary School was finally completed. Ma Guifang saw that Liu Xiaoming was so kind and responsible, and she admired Liu Xiaoming and had a little more favor.

In 1971, Ma Guifang and Liu Xiaoming fell in love. At that time, Liu Xiaoming had moved out of Ma Guifang's house and lived in the dormitory of educated youth. Shortly after falling in love with Ma Guifang, the Miaogou Gate Brigade was assigned two military quotas. Liu Xiaoming's dream since childhood was to become a soldier like his grandfather. Liu Xiaoming's grandfather participated in the Liberation War and the Korean War, but unfortunately he died unfortunately on the Korean battlefield.

Considering Liu Xiaoming's outstanding performance during the team-running period, the captain directly gave Liu Xiaoming a quota to join the army. His parents expressed their support for Liu Xiaoming's military affairs, and Ma Guifang even gave Liu Xiaoming support and encouragement. Ma Guifang told Liu Xiaoming that no matter how long she would be, she would be willing to wait for Liu Xiaoming to come back.

Before Liu Xiaoming joined the army, Ma Guifang knitted a scarf for Liu Xiaoming overnight. Liu Xiaoming first trained at Yan'an Workers' and Peasants' School for three months. After the training, Liu Xiaoming was transferred to work at the Sixth Surveying and Mapping Brigade of Lanzhou Military Region. During his work in Lanzhou, because Liu Xiaoming performed outstandingly, in 1974, Liu Xiaoming was recommended to study in Lanzhou University Geology major. During this period, Liu Xiaoming kept in contact with Ma Guifang and read Liu Xiaoming's letters, and for Ma Guifang's only spiritual sustenance.

After graduating from Lanzhou University, Liu Xiaoming was directly promoted to work in the military district organs. Liu Xiaoming then took the time to go back to northern Shaanxi to visit his first love girlfriend Ma Guifang, who had not met for many years. In 1977, Liu Xiaoming applied to the organization to marry Ma Guifang. In August 1978, Liu Xiaoming returned to northern Shaanxi to hold a wedding with Ma Guifang. What Ma Guifang did not expect was that this time was the last time she and her husband Liu Xiaoming met.

In 1979, the Sino-Vietnam self-defense counterattack started. Liu Xiaoming's troops received an order to gather in the Sino-Vietnam border area. At that time, Ma Guifang was pregnant. Ma Guifang wrote a letter to ask her husband Liu Xiaoming to name his daughter, and Liu Xiaoming named his daughter Liu Zixin, but in the letter, Liu Xiaoming did not tell Ma Guifang that he was going to the front line.

Until her daughter was born, Ma Guifang had never received a letter from her husband Liu Xiaoming, but unexpectedly waited for news of her husband's sacrifice. The only thought she left for Ma Guifang was the scarf she had knitted for her husband with her own hands. Until now, Ma Guifang still kept this scarf. After her husband died, Ma Guifang did not remarry, but chose to raise her daughter alone to grow up.

More than 40 years have passed, and Liu Zixin has started a family and started a career. After graduating from college, Liu Zixin became a teacher. Ma Guifang is now living with her daughter's family. In her later years, she lived a very happy life.
