Seven Days and Six Nights Military Summer Camp Life

Author/Li Ziyu Shiqi Central Primary School

In order to get rid of my problem of being slow in doing things and not having the concept of time, my father signed me up for a seven-day and six-night military summer camp. The military summer camp is at the Zhongshan National Defense Education and Training Base. July 10 is the day when the first phase of the military summer camp is opened. Therefore, on the evening of July 9, my mother and I packed up the daily neatly for the daily necessities needed for military summer life and neatly filled my small suitcase.

After breakfast on the morning of July 10, my father drove me to the national defense education and training base. Along the way, my mother kept telling me what to pay attention to in summer camp , listen to the instructors, get along with classmates, do sun protection, and remember to drink more water... But I enjoyed the free summer camp life after leaving my father.

After getting off the bus, the view was a straight cement road, that is, Qiangjun Road, which directly leads to the main gate of the base. The tall green trees on both sides of the road swayed green branches and leaves in the breeze, waving to me like tall guards, warmly welcoming me. The birds on the trees sing happily, and white clouds float freely in the blue sky. After completing the sign-in before 10 o'clock in the morning, I bid farewell to my parents, and then dragged my beloved suitcase and walked into the base with firm steps.

After entering the base, I led it down to the dormitory assigned to me by a female instructor's place. There are four iron high and low beds inside, and the bedding is neatly laid. The most eye-catching thing is that the bedside is placed on the ground like a square green quilt with tofu blocks. It can be folded so neatly, which really shocked me. The bed nearest to the door was my bed. After putting my suitcase, I received two sets of children's camouflage military uniforms and a military cap with the enthusiastic female instructor. Then I immediately changed into my camouflage uniform, put on my hat, and was about to go to the bathroom to look in the mirror, and look at myself in the military uniform when I heard a loud whistle coming from downstairs. So I and my roommate hurriedly ran down to meet.

When I came downstairs, I saw "little soldiers" busy looking for their own class everywhere. The scene was simply chaotic. I didn't know where my class was, so I asked everyone: "Where is Class 3?" I finally squeezed into my class, and I was sweating profusely. Everyone gathered under the shade of the trees and chatted, and they were like small stoves around them, making people feel even more stuffy. In this situation, I felt that time passed like a snail crawling. Suddenly I heard a loud voice: "Everyone, quiet. Now I send famous brands, and whoever I call them will be called, Li Yihong, Xiao Beibei, You Shunxin... Li Ziyu." Finally, I heard my name, and I quickly responded: "Come!" The instructor came over and brought me the famous brands. I smiled and said, "Thank you, instructor."

After everything was ready, the military training mode was officially started. Our first class is to learn to organize housework, mainly learning to make tofu cubes, that is, fold quilts. I listened carefully to the instructor's explanation and carefully observed every detail he demonstrated. After the demonstration, it was our turn to practice it myself. Although it could be folded, it could not make a square piece of tofu. The next step is to learn how to place small stools. After he finished his explanation, he practiced in groups and practiced repeatedly according to the basic procedures introduced by the instructor until everyone can complete the prescribed movements neatly.

It was soon time for lunch, so the coach took us to the entrance of the canteen. At this time, other classes also stood at the entrance of the canteen. We saw the chief instructor standing on the steps of the canteen and speak: "We are in the military summer camp, and there are rules for eating. First, we cannot grab food, each person eats his own portion; second, we cannot speak during meals, and always keep quiet; third, if there is an urgent matter, we must first talk to the instructor before we can do things. Do you understand?" Our twelve classes said together: "Look------!" Under the instructor's instructions, we lined up into the canteen. When we entered the canteen, it was very quiet. After a while, the canteen became lively. The chief instructor walked in and said, "You started arguing again. If you quarrel, you can't eat it. Whoever quarrels will be punished to stand outside!" After hearing this, we were so scared that we didn't dare to speak out. Suddenly, the cafeteria was silent. The chief instructor then said: "Just keep this state and can't speak." However, after the food is served, you have to sing military songs together, and you can only eat after singing Jun Ge. After dinner, each class arranged several students to wash dishes and clean the dishes. The others returned to the dormitory under the guidance of the instructor and started taking a nap. The nap time was from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

The harsh whistle sounded on time at 4:00 pm, so everyone immediately got up and started to work hard to sort out the housework: make tofu cubes, dress and wash, fill their water cup with mineral water, and then rush downstairs to meet before 4:30 pm. The afternoon of the first day was quite relaxing, which was a self-introduction and talent exhibition. I really didn't expect that they all looked like orators, talking endlessly. Not only that, everyone has their own talent, singing, dancing, and performing martial arts in the ground... They also know how to play the piano, playing drums, , playing violin , playing flute , saxophone... However, the instruments are not allowed to be brought, and they have not seen more exciting programs, but they use jokes, stories, and chanting poems.

Happy times always pass quickly, and before you know it, dinner time has come. After the instructor gave a summary speech, we were taken to the cafeteria again. Dinner time is from 6:30 to 7:00 pm, and there is an hour of free time after dinner, which is usually used to write a diary. There is no specific training arrangement from 8:00 to 9:30 pm, and the instructors of each class arrange activities by themselves according to their own class situation. The half hour from 9:30 to 10:00 is the busiest, because after 10:00, all dormitories are turned off, and everyone must go to bed. In the past half an hour, everyone in a dormitory had to complete the task of washing hair, bathing and washing clothes. Time was tight, and many people didn’t have time to wash their hair. In six nights, I only washed my hair twice.

had a fresh and tense day like this. It seems that the time has been planned, the movements are faster, and you can do many things in a day!

The following six days, the activities are the same every morning, only the afternoon and evening are different every day. We get up at 6:20 in the morning, and before 6:30 in the morning, we have to fold the quilt into tofu pieces, brush our teeth and wash our faces, tidy up our appearance, and fill our kettle with water... Before 6:40, we gathered at the playground and all the team members ran for 20 minutes. After running, practice standing in a military posture for 20 minutes. After a 10-minute break, you will have 30 minutes of morning exercises and 30 minutes of tidying up your military uniform. Then it is breakfast time from 8:30 to 9:00 in the morning. After the meal, we can go back to the dormitory to rest from 9:00 to 9:30 in the morning. From 9:30 to 10:00, go to the playground to practice standing military posture, and then practice the square formation from 10:00 to 12:00. It is 12:00 to 12:30 noon. It is the rest time. Lunch hours are from 12:30 to 1:30, and after meals, there is a pleasant lunch break, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. After taking a nap, I only have half an hour to organize my housework, wash up, and fill water. From 4:30 to 5:00 pm, they all listen to the passionate and exciting lectures of the chief instructor. From 5:00 to 6:30 pm, it is the happiest time for each class to do and rehearse and perform. Dinner time is from 6:30 to 7:00 pm, and there is an hour of free activity afterwards. From 8:00 to 9:30 pm, each class organizes activities on its own, but the instructors have a different theme activity every day: the second day at this time instructors teach us how to understand sniper rifles and how to use them; the third day goes to the shooting hall to practice shooting; the fourth day runs fiercely; the fifth day shows each group's talent; the sixth day listens to the stories of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea and the education of gratitude, touching the little soldiers to tears. Then the busiest half an hour of the day is washing your hair, bathing, and washing clothes. When the time comes, turn off the lights immediately. Everyone must go to bed and fall into a sweet dream.

I thought that military summer camp life would be free and relaxed. After experiencing it, I realized that fantasy is always full and infinite, but reality is so backbone. However, although time is tight every day and you have to do a lot of things yourself, it is a little hard work, but you can still accept it.But I don’t have to listen to my dad nagging in my ears like Tang Monk , I don’t have to be forced to recite ancient poems every day, nor do I have to do Olympiad mathematics... More importantly, I also gained happiness from it and truly felt the warmth of home. I have learned a lot of knowledge that I cannot learn from textbooks, understood the importance of time, and knew how to better plan time and use it efficiently.
