The second moot court (arbitration tribunal) competition for mainland, Hong Kong and Macao college students, which lasted for six months, came to a successful conclusion on August 28 at the Shanghai International Dispute Resolution Center.
This competition will be launched in March 2022. It is hosted by Fudan University and jointly organized by the Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission ( Shanghai International Arbitration Center ) and Hong Kong International Arbitration Center , a professional arbitration institution.
This competition was warmly welcomed by law school students from universities in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao. A total of law schools from 55 universities participated, and a total of 78 participating teams were organized. Under the guidance of the procedural order of the Shanghai International Arbitration Center, each participating team submitted its pleadings before the deadline of August 1. Under the selection of a total of 29 foreign-related legal experts from co-organizing law firms, notary offices, and undertaking units, the 16 participating teams Stand out and participate in the main competition. The
semi-finals were held at the Shanghai International Dispute Resolution Center on the morning of August 28. Zou Rui, a senior expert from the Shanghai International Arbitration Center, served as the chief arbitrator, Qu Yinsheng, a senior expert from the Hong Kong International Arbitration Center, and Mou Di, an arbitration expert from the Shanghai Arbitration Association, formed an arbitration tribunal to participate. After passing the semi-final review, after a two-by-two competition, the Fudan University team and the South China Normal University team finally entered the finals. The
final was held at the Shanghai International Dispute Resolution Center on the afternoon of August 28. Wang Mingfeng, senior barrister of Hong Kong, chairman of the Arbitration Committee of the Hong Kong Bar Association and member of the Shanghai International Arbitration Center, served as the chief arbitrator, and the vice president of the Macau Legal Staff Federation Lawyer Li Huanjiang, the president, and lawyer Yu Weifeng, director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the All China Lawyers Association and president of the Shanghai Arbitration Association, jointly formed the arbitration tribunal. After fierce competition, the South China Normal University team won the runner-up and the Fudan University team won the championship.
In order to prevent students from being affected by the start of school, the organizing committee of this competition has decided that in the main competition, semi-finals and finals of this competition, students will participate in the court hearings through the Shanghai International Arbitration Center online hearing system, and the arbitrators will participate offline or online court hearing. This competition pioneered the application of the Shanghai International Arbitration Center Free Trade Zone Arbitration Rules, so that online simulated arbitration has rules to follow. Through the all-English arbitration competition, students' ideas are expanded, and competition replaces learning. Leading and training exercises students' ability to deal with international disputes.
