Dongfeng Company, Lantu Automobile, Dongfeng Hongtai, Wuhan Jinfa Technology and other four companies in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone were selected to undertake the "national mission" of exploring resource recycling and low-carbon development.
Extended producer responsibility refers to extending the resource and environmental responsibilities that producers bear to their products from the production link to the entire life cycle of product design, circulation and consumption, recycling, waste disposal, etc., and requires producers to implement their resource and environmental responsibilities throughout their life cycle by carrying out product ecological design, using recycled raw materials, ensuring standardized recycling and safe disposal of waste products, strengthening information disclosure, etc.
Specifically for the automotive industry, producer responsibility extension system mainly involves upstream and downstream enterprises such as automobile production, scrapped motor vehicle recycling and dismantling, parts remanufacturing, and comprehensive utilization of power batteries.
The list of pilot enterprises announced by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology shows that the main units include 11 automobile companies including FAW , Dongfeng , Geely , Chery , SAIC. There are 62 joint declaration units, including scrapped automobile recycling and dismantling, power battery recycling and utilization, and power battery production.
Dongfeng Company as the main unit, Lantu Automobile and Dongfeng Hongtai as joint application units were selected as pilot enterprises.
In recent years, the market penetration rate of new energy passenger cars has continued to rise, and power batteries have ushered in a period of rapid growth. The recycling and utilization of retired batteries has also become a problem that needs to be solved urgently in the development of my country's new energy vehicle industry. Implement a producer responsibility extension system and cannot avoid the recycling of power batteries.
Dongfeng Hongtai is an enterprise under Dongfeng Company that undertakes core automotive parts and low-carbon service businesses. Since 2019, it has accelerated the implementation of battery recycling and utilization business and gradually built a full-process capability system for detection, dismantling, restructuring, cascade utilization, and traceability of waste power batteries.
"The cascade utilization battery we independently developed has been loading and testing on factory forklifts for nearly a year. Compared with the traditional lead-acid battery , it has the advantages of pollution-free, fast charging, low cost and high efficiency." Li Huanqi, project manager of Dongfeng Hongtai Cylinder Utilization, introduced that cascade utilization refers to the process of conducting necessary inspection, testing, classification, splitting, battery repair or reorganization of waste power batteries into cascade products, so that they can fully utilize their surplus value and apply it to other fields. It plays an important role in promoting the development of new energy vehicles, alleviating the recycling pressure caused by the large amount of battery retirement, and reducing the industrial cost of electric vehicle .
Li Huanqi introduced that Dongfeng Hongtai has become a power battery cascade utilization enterprise registered by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and has expanded the application demonstration of cascade utilization batteries in the fields of electric forklift , individual combat vehicles, four-wheel low-speed vehicles, elevators, etc. Some products have completed customer trial production and gradually realized industrialization.
