In the process of our lives, many troubles in our hearts are always revolving around "I". For the sake of "I", I always feel dissatisfied and uncomfortable. I often desire and desire external things, and I often complain, doubt, jealousy, greed, and hatred from time to time, and have created all kinds of karma. When you have to receive retribution, you often don’t want to receive retribution, just like you owe debts but don’t pay back the debt, so you create more karma. This is what Buddhism calls “the rich suffering of the five aggregates”.

The so-called " Five aggregates ": form, feeling, thought, action, and consciousness are the composition of our body and mind, that is, the elements that constitute the human body, which can be divided into two parts: spirit and material. The part of matter is called "color", which means shape and form, which is the material phenomenon of the body. The other four types belong to psychological and spiritual phenomena: among them, "feeling" means feelings; "thinking" is the cognition that arises after feeling; and "action" is the decision of how to deal with and how to react after cognition arises. These three belong to the psychological level.

And the fifth aggregate is called "consciousness". Consciousness is the subject of our life, from birth to death, from this life to the next life, and is the subject of the entire life process. When our body and mental parts are combined and influenced by each other, behaviors and actions will occur. After the behavior occurs, a kind of force will be formed, which we call "karma", which is the essence of our consciousness. Behavior includes three aspects: body, language, and psychology. Therefore, "consciousness" is caused by the behavior of the body, speech, and mind, and a force left behind. We have created the causes of consciousness now. With these consciousnesses, we may receive the consequences in this life, or we may receive the consequences in the next life.

Overyone thinks that "knowledge" is "soul", but "soul" is unchanged and always the same, while "knowledge" is constantly changing. As long as we continue to create karma, whether it is good or bad karma, the components of consciousness will change with each other. When we accept the consequences, the components of consciousness will also vary. Therefore, while accepting the consequences, you create the causes, and while creating the causes, you will receive the consequences. This cycle continues, and the content of consciousness is often changed.

The so-called "I" is actually formed by the combination of the physical and mental phenomena of the five aggregates. This is a kind of combination of causes and conditions, and there is no eternal and unchanging soul in it. So, you yesterday are different from you ten years ago, and you even an hour ago are different from you now. Not only are your bodies different, but our psychological state, behavioral patterns and consciousness content are also changing at any time. Therefore, the self composed of the five aggregates is constantly changing, not the real self at all, nor does it remain unchanged.

The cause of the "five aggregates are full of pain" is that we do not understand that the subject of our life - consciousness, is unrestrained. The Heart Sutra says that Guanyin Bodhisattva "sees that the five aggregates are empty", so he can "save all sufferings and troubles", and ordinary people do not know that "the five aggregates are empty", so they suffer so much.

If we don’t know that “the five aggregates are empty”, the five aggregates will become tools for creating troubles, constantly creating troubles, just like a prairie fire, bringing us a lot of pain. If we can understand that "the five aggregates are empty", the five aggregates will no longer create troubles, but will become tools for cultivating blessings and wisdom, helping us to achieve complete liberation.
